New THE LOFT Trailer Takes Karl Urban and Wentworth Miller to the Height of Paranoia

by     Posted One week ago

We saw the first trailer for The Loft more than two years ago, and now the film will finally see the light of day. Open Road Films has acquired The Loft from Universal and just released a new trailer and poster. The film stars Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet, and Matthias Shoenaerts as five married friends who share a secret penthouse where they can cheat on their wives and indulge in whatever fantasies they chose without leaving a paper trail.  Their party train quickly derails when they find the body of a dead woman in the loft and fall to paranoia as everyone begins to suspect one another.

The movie looks like it could be trashy fun, but none of the characters come across as particularly likeable, just a bunch of entitled dudes cheating on their wives.  It’s hard not to like Urban and Marsden though, so maybe the casting will make up for the off-putting nature of the characters. The film also stars Isabel Lucas, Rhona Mitra, and Rachael Taylor and opens in theaters January 23, 2015. Check out the first The Loft trailer after the jump.

Red-Band Trailer for THE LOFT Starring Karl Urban, James Marsden, Eric Stonestreet, and Rhona Mitra

A red-band trailer has gone online for the thriller The Loft.  The film centers on five friends who have a loft where they can go to cheat on their wives.  Their perfect locale hits a bit of a snag when they find a woman brutally murdered in the loft, and they don’t know who’s responsible.  I first thought that this would be a claustrophobic film where the five friends would be turning on each other since they each have a key to the loft.  Instead, they start suspecting their wives to be jealous murderous who discovered their husbands’ secret.  It’s an odd approach, although it makes sense since the guys seems sleazy enough to distrust the woman they’ve wronged rather than the dishonest guys in their company.  The only question is whether or not we’ll care what happens to the five adulterers, and if we’d rather see them get their comeuppance than solve the mystery.

Hit the jump to check out the red-band trailer.  The impressive cast features Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet, Rachael Taylor, Rhona Mitra, Valerie Cruz, and Isabel Lucas.  The film currently has no release date.

This Fall, actor Terry O’Quinn of Lost returns to ABC in the supernatural thriller 666 Park Avenue, playing an agent of the devil who helps people fulfill their lifelong dreams with sometimes deadly consequences.  Based on Gabriella Pierce’s novel by the same name, the show also stars ABC regulars Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor.  Creator David Wilcox is no stranger to supernatural series, having worked on Fringe and Life on Mars.

On the show, O’Quinn and Williams play the ultimate New York power couple, Gavin and Olivia Doran, who reside and own the historic 666 Park Avenue building.  Taylor and Annable play a young, unmarried couple who are hired to serve as resident managers, but it becomes apparent, early on, that the Dorans have other intentions for them.  This year marked the first time any of the cast had been to Comic-Con, and they were all excited to talk about their new show.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

Trailer for THE DARKEST HOUR Starring Emile Hirsch

by     Posted 3 years, 138 days ago

The trailer for the alien invasion flick The Darkest Hour has gone online.  While we’ve been inundated with alien movies this year, you should know that The Darkest Hour picked up some positive buzz from it’s Comic-Con presentation and the concept art looks pretty neat.  The Moscow setting is also a nice change of pace.  That’s right, America: other countries sometimes get invaded by aliens too.  As for the trailer, it starts out a little too much like “Hey!  Another alien invasion movie!  I’m sure you’re in no way tired of these!”  But once it reveals its concept, that the aliens feed on electricity and that a small band of survivors has to come up with some inventive ways to stay alive, then it gets interesting.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, and Rachael TaylorThe Darkest Hour opens in 3D on December 23rd.

Comic-Con 2011: CHARLIE’S ANGELS Panel Recap: “We’re Angels, Not Saints”

by     Posted 3 years, 149 days ago

While it was billed as Sony TV’s highly anticipated action-packed series, the Charlie’s Angels panel was woefully under-attended. Perhaps it was due to poor scheduling at the end of a long day of Con events. Regardless of the reason for the lack of interest, the cast and creative team of Charlie’s Angels gave the audience more than enough reasons to tune in when the pilot airs on ABC this September. Not just a reboot of the 1970s franchise or a continuation of the Drew Barrymore movies, this iteration of Charlie’s Angels promises to bring something new to the table. Stars Annie Ilonzeh (General Hospital), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Rachael Taylor (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ramon Rodriguez (The Wire) were joined by executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar of Smallville fame. Hit the jump to see why this new reboot may be worth watching.

Al Gough and Miles Millar Interview CHARLIE’S ANGELS slice

Al Gough and Miles Millar are a prolific writer/producer team with a string of successful hits on both the large and small screens. Currently, they are deep into developing an edgy remake of the 1970s classic television series Charlie’s Angels for ABC, with the pilot set to shoot in March. With Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and Annie Ilonzeh (General Hospital) set as their Angels, and Robert Wagner as the voice of Charlie, the pair are hoping to surprise audiences with a really great show that will confound expectations.

During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Al Gough and Miles Millar talked in-depth about everything from this re-imagined update, to their time on the critically acclaimed CW series Smallville, currently in its 10th and final season, to their upcoming feature film I Am Number Four (due in theaters on February 18th), to their writing partnership. This portion of the interview covers what they had to say about Charlie’s Angels and where they hope to take the series, and you can check it out after the jump:
