Poised for Valentine’s Day, the Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum love story The Vow opens this weekend. The pair play young newlyweds who are fiercely in love until a car accident leaves McAdams’ character with such severe memory loss that she cannot remember her husband. While her husband tries to make her fall in love with him all over again, she must decide if she wants her old life back. Based off a true story, the film is absorbing and hits deeply on a variety of emotions. With an excellent supporting cast—Scott Speedman, Sam Neill, and in particular Jessica Lange, the film is an engaging and satisfying love story, and also one that deals with the intricacies of family dynamics. Also, McAdams has a way of injecting believability into all her roles, and she was great in this.
At the film’s press junket, I sat down with the charming duo where we discussed how they got involved in the project, if they met the real life couple, and their favorite dating stories. Hit the jump to watch.

With director Michael Sucsy‘s The Vow opening on February 10, Screen Gems has provided us with five movie clips and eleven images from the film. Based on a true story, the film stars Rachel McAdams as a woman who loses all her recent memory in a car crash, including that of her husband played by Channing Tatum. The film focuses on McAdams trying to get her life back, anchored by Tatum’s struggle to make her fall in love with him again. The Vow also stars Sam Neil, Scott Speedman, and Jessica Lange. Hit the jump for the clips and images and look for exclusive video interviews with the cast next week.

Director Brian De Palma is assembling all the pieces to shoot Passion, his remake of the French thriller Love Crime. Noomi Rapace is set to play a young protege engaged in a tense cat-and-mouse game with her heartless boss. According to Thompson on Hollywood, Rapace’s Sherlock Holmes 2 co-star Rachel McAdams is in talks to join the project, presumably as the executive (played by Kristin Scott Thomas in the original). [Correction: McAdams is actually just one year older than Rapace, so I am not sure who will play which role.] Passion will take precedence over The Key Man, the paranoid thriller De Palma was prepping for a late 2011/early 2012 shoot. Passion is scheduled to start shooting in Berlin in March with a $20 million production. More after the jump.

With the release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows only a few weeks away, Warner Bros. has released 47 new images from the movie. If you want to see 47 moments from the movie including a first look at Stephen Fry as Holmes’ brother Mycroft, hit the jump. The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, and Jared Harris. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens December 16th.

A new trailer for the drama The Vow has been released. Based on a true story, the film stars Rachel McAdams as a woman who loses all her recent memory in a car crash, including that of her husband played by Channing Tatum. The film focuses on McAdams trying to get her life back, anchored by Tatum’s struggle to make her fall in love with him again. This trailer centers a bit more on the whole “courting” aspect of the film, and is a great deal less depressing than the first one which was basically McAdams giving Tatum the “I don’t know you, go away” face over and over again. McAdams is a talented actress, and I’m sure the movie will do big business on its Valentine’s Day release date, but I’m not really seeing much here to get the male moviegoers in the seats (at least willingly).
Direct by Michael Sucsy (Grey Gardens), the film also stars Sam Neil, Scott Speedman, and Jessica Lange. The Vow opens February 10th.

Earlier this week, we reported that writer-director Terrence Malick had two new films (both starring Christian Bale) in the pipeline, which was surprising considering the huge time gap between Malick’s previous movies. But neither of the Bale movies are the follow-up to The Tree of Life. Malick’s next movie is an untitled romantic drama (previously titled The Burial) he shot last year, and 24 Frames has some new details on the plot. To begin, it’s Malick’s first movie set in the present day, and he’s currently at work editing the picture, which he expects to be finished by next year (although that doesn’t mean a distributor will release it in 2012). So what’s this mystery flick about? Philandering! Europeans! Oklahoma!
Hit the jump for more details. The film stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Barry Pepper, and Jessica Chastain.

Warner Bros. has finally released a new trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and it is discouraging. There are a few neat moments like some glimpses of Rachel McAdams reprising her role as Irene Adler (although the role will amount to a cameo this time around), and the formation of ye old sniper rifle. But what I find troubling about this trailer is that it’s very light on story. Usually the second trailer is all about laying out the plot and this one is just more action. Lots and lots of action, which is fine, but Sherlock Holmes vs. Professor Moriarty is one of the great fictional battles of all-time. This movie may have boiled it down to excessive speed-ramping. Here’s hoping I’m wrong.

Director David O. Russell is readying his follow-up to last year’s The Fighter, and he’s begun searching for his lead actress. Russell will next tackle an adaptation of The Silver Linings Playbook, which already has Mark Wahlberg set to star as a former high school history teacher who has just been released from a mental institution and plans on reconciling with his estranged wife.
Now Risky Business reports that Russell will be testing a number of actresses throughout the weekend to find his leading lady. Those meeting with Russell include: Elizabeth Banks, Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Andrea Riseborough and Olivia Wilde. Jennifer Lawrence is also mentioned, but her status is unclear. Filming is set to start in August. Angelina Jolie had recently been mentioned as a possibility as well, but she’s not included in this report. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of the book.

I can’t remember the last time Woody Allen made a film as delightful as Midnight in Paris. He’s certainly done it before and it’s not one of his comedy classics like Annie Hall and Sleeper, but Midnight in Paris is undoubtedly one of Woody Allen’s best films of the past ten years. It’s the rare Allen comedy where he doesn’t insert an Allen-like neurotic character, and the script finds inventive ways to be funny and thoughtful. Johanne Debas and Darius Khondji’s cinematography is gorgeous, the film is filled with wonderful performances where you can tell that all of the actors are having a marvelous time, and Allen brings it all together with a joy rarely seen in his movies these days.

The first trailer for director Michael Sucsy’s (Grey Gardens) drama The Vow has gone online. Starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, the film was inspired by a true story and centers on a young woman (McAdams) who loses all recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity, while her husband (Tatum) tries to win her heart for the second time. Surprisingly, this is not based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.
Judging from the trailer, the flick looks like it’s better than it has to be. McAdams is a fine actress, and Sucsy’s work on HBO’s Grey Gardens was fantastic. Tatum’s been trying to work his way into more dramatic fare (both in acting and producing), but I’m still not sold on him as a serious actor. Hit the jump to watch the trailer for yourself. The Vow hits theaters February 10th, 2012.

Writer/director Terrence Malick’s latest film, The Tree of Life, just opened in limited release this weekend, marking only the fifth film released by the auteur in an almost 40-year career. To say Malick takes his time in choosing and editing projects is an understatement. But the director’s trademark lag between productions may now be a thing of the past. Last year, Malick shot his follow-up to Tree of Life, a romantic drama starring Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Barry Pepper and Olga Kurylenko. While details on the plot are extremely hard to come by (typical of a Malick film), a bit more information has been unveiled about the drama.
Previously referred to as Burial, the untitled drama is a love story described as being even more experimental than Tree of Life, a film that has drawn some polarizing responses given its lack of narrative and expansive reach for greatness, despite winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Someone who has seen footage from Malick’s follow-up stated that the director’s trademark meditativeness “is there in spades.” Even more interesting, though, is the fact that Malick has alerted his production crew to keep the summer and fall open to possibly shoot another film this year. Hit the jump for more.

It is quite clear that Woody Allen loves Paris, and even though her character in his latest film, Midnight in Paris, is quite the contrary, actress Rachel McAdams admits to loving Paris too. In this romantic comedy set in the City of Lights, Gil (Owen Wilson) is a successful Hollywood screenwriter who is following his dream of becoming a novelist, much like his idols Hemingway and Fitzgerald. When he and his fiancée Inez (Rachel McAdams) tag along on a trip to Paris with her father, his literary ambitions seems to annoy everyone and makes them question his focus. When Inez realizes that this is more than just a slight preoccupation for Gil, she begins to question whether or not they still have the same aspirations.
At the film’s press day, Rachel McAdams talked about working with Woody Allen and the type of director he is on set, how much she enjoyed working in and around Paris, working with the First Lady of France (Carla Bruni), and how the best acting advice she’s ever received is just to be as honest and present as you can be. She also talked about reprising her role as Irene Adler for a cameo in Sherlock Holmes 2, and working with director Terrence Malick on a still untitled film. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

This week, we got a chance to speak with Rachel McAdams, who is currently promoting another project that we’ll be writing about later. But, in the meantime, we wanted to post what she had to say about revisiting her role as Irene Adler for a cameo in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, as well as working with Terrence Malick on an untitled film that is being described as “a powerful and moving love story.”
While McAdams said that she isn’t actually sure of her her role in the Malick film (meaning that she’s either being very coy, or that she only received her own script pages), she did admit to there being a bit of a love triangle involving her character. She also talked about the extensive preparation that Malick requires, and said that working with him was a wonderful and inspiring experience. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

A number of images from Woody Allen’s latest film Midnight in Paris have been released. The romantic comedy centers on a man (Owen Wilson) who is in Paris with his wife (Rachel McAdams) but begins going off on his own a midnight to explore the nightlife the city has to offer. The trailer for the film was released last month, and actually shows a bit of promise given that Allen hasn’t really made a worthwhile film in quite some time.
The cast includes Wilson, McAdams, Michael Sheen, Kathy Bates, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, and Adrien Brody. Hit the jump to check out the images. Midnight in Paris opens May 20th and will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The trailer for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris has gone online. The film centers on a man (Owen Wilson) who is in Paris with his wife (Rachel McAdams) but begins going off on his own a midnight to explore the nightlife the city has to offer. It’s tough to be excited for Midnight in Paris since Woody Allen insists on turning out one film per year regardless of whether or not it’s a film worth making. While he has a great cast lined up (Michael Sheen especially looks to be having some fun), a Woody Allen film these days is a crapshoot and at best he feels like he’s repeating himself. Hopefully Midnight in Paris will offer a change of pace, but nothing in the trailer hints that it will.
