If your idea of a good movie is Rachel Nichols (Conan the Barbarian) and Zoe Bell (Whip It) fighting each other to the death in nothing but wife-beaters and sweatpants, just go ahead and hit the jump right now. If you need a little more prodding, how about the fact that their new project, Raze, has been touted as a cross between Hostel and Fight Club? In the film by director Josh C. Waller (The Nail), Jamie (Nichols) and Sabrina (Bell) are pitted against each other in a vicious fight for survival in what appears to be a tournament-style death-match. The tagline of the movie reads, “Fight or Die” and that pretty much explains it all. Hit the jump to check out some images from the picture.

A good Conan the Barbarian movie shouldn’t be that hard to make. The character is simple. He’s a buff, taciturn guy who caves in skulls and cuts his enemies in half with a gigantic sword. This is Conan. This is simple. And yet director Marcus Nispel has no idea what kind of Conan movie he wants to make. Is it a good, old-fashioned sword-and-sorcery flick? Is it a modern spin on the classic comic book? Is it a campy action movie? Is it a self-serious “realistic” drama? Perhaps a better movie could have melded all of these elements together, but Conan the Barbarian is an absolute mess, and even worse, an absolute bore.

After years in pre-production, including a well respected but unproduced John Milius draft, an aborted Red Sonja redux and a countless hours of fan casting, Conan The Barbarian returns to theaters this Friday with Marcus Nispel directing Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa, as the titular warrior. Rose McGowan, Ron Perlman and Stephen Lang round out the cast of this 3D bloodbath.
Hemming closer to the fantastical Robert E. Howard books, this new Conan is stripped down and vicious. Recently, I sat down with Rachel Nichols to discuss her role as a pure blood missionary in the film. During our interview we discussed the benefits of being the only girl on set, the way that the story is built around her femininity, what it takes to win the heart of a barbarian and she gives us a little taste of what the new Alex Cross film, I, Alex Cross, starring Tyler Perry will look and feel like. Hit the jump to watch.

Rachel Nichols has worked out her own little niche: having chick fights, which she lovingly terms as “dope.” The stunning blonde actress stands 5’10” but is as gentle and open as can be. No wonder they found her to be a great match for the 6’4” Jason Momoa as they co-star in Lionsgate’s Conan the Barbarian revamp. When I sat down with Nichols yesterday afternoon, we explored what it feels like to be a first-timer at Comic-Con, girl fights, the challenges of shooting in Bulgaria, and even the other Rachel Nichols at ESPN. The UK trailer for Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian reboot has been released. This new look at the film was apparently put together by someone with severe ADD, as you’re really not able to make out much of anything besides lots and lots of fighting and yelling. The previous trailer was kind of intriguing (save for the terrible, terrible music), but whether Nispel’s take is going to capture the cheesy fun of the original or squander in self-seriousness is still yet to be determined.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols and Stephen Lang. Conan the Barbarian opens in 3D on August 19th.

The red-band trailer for director Marcus Nispel’s (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot) remake of Conan the Barbarian has been released. It’s certainly epic-looking, and extremely bloody. I like Jason Momoa for the part, but after catching up on HBO’s Game of Thrones it’s really hard to look at him in a medieval/carnal context without thinking of Khal Drogo. If he rips someone’s throat out in Conan, then my ticket is 100% sold.
The tone Nispel is going for with the film works, but the music in this trailer is horrible. I first thought it was some cheesy 80’s action-movie song, then the vocals came in. It just reeks of douchebaginess. Nevertheless, the actual film looks pretty cool. The film stars Momoa, Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, and Rachel Nichols, Conan the Barbarian hits theaters August 19th in 3D.

Five character posters for Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian have been released across five different websites. The posters show Conan (Jason Momoa), his father Corin (Ron Perlman), magician Marique (Rose McGowan), the Queen’s bodyguard Tamara (Rachel Nichols), and the film’s villain Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang).
Hit the jump to check out the posters. Conan the Barbarian opens in 3D on August 19th.
[Update: We've been sent the high resolution versions of the character posters, and have included them after the jump]

The theatrical trailer for the Conan the Barbarian reboot has gone online. The film stars Jason Momoa as Conan, with Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, and Rachel Nichols rounding out the cast. While the teaser didn’t really show much footage, we really get a sense of what the flick will be like from this trailer. The action actually looks pretty cool, and I’m liking the giant scale and scope of the flick that we’re seeing. Momoa certainly looks the part, and I’m definitely intrigued to see more. Directed by Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot), the film is set to be released on August 19th in 3D. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

Now that Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) has officially landed the directing gig on G.I. Joe 2, speculation now turns to the cast. Rachel Nichols, who portrayed Scarlett in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, recently sent out a tweet [via /Film] confirming that only a handful of the original film’s cast will return for the sequel. And by a handful I mean Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow), Ray Park (Snake Eyes) and Channing Tatum (Duke). Nichols then followed the tweet up with this statement:
“… Thank you. After the GI JOE news I had Heavy Boots, but I’m smiling now!”
This seems to suggest that Paramount is sticking with the small handful of characters who actually worked in the original film – one of whom has plastic lips that don’t move – and vetoing the likes of Sienna Miller, Marlon Wayans, Dennis Quaid, and even Joseph Gordon-Levitt who was clearly set up as the villain Cobra Commander in a potential sequel. This also suggests that Paramount is keeping the budget relatively smaller than the Cobra’s $175 million price tag. Of course none of this has been confirmed by the studio, so file it under rumor for now. G.I. Joe 2 is being written by Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Update: Paramount has settled on a August 10th, 2012 release date for the G.I. Joe sequel. More info here.
Back in February, IESB reported that Lionsgate’s Conan the Barbarian reboot would be released in 3D. While never confirmed by the studio, thanks to Collider reader Max, we have our first look at the promo poster for Conan 3D. If you saw the previous promo poster for Conan, the new poster is exactly the same except it now has the cast listed and the word 3D below Conan.
While I’m a fan of movies that have been filmed in 3D, I’ve been extremely let down by everything I’ve seen that’s been post converted. I cite Clash of the Titans, Alice in Wonderland, and The Last Airbender as examples of bad post conversion. Obviously as time goes on, post conversion should get better and I’ll be less critical of a film going 3D in post. But so far…nothing I’ve seen tells me we should be excited to watch Conan in 3D. Saying that, the one constant I hear about good post conversion is that it takes time. With no release date for Conan, perhaps they’ll do it right and surprise us all.
Conan stars Jason Momoa, Rose McGowan, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, and Stephen Lang. It’s slated to open in 2011. For more coverage on Marcus Nispel’s Conan, click here.

With filming on Marcus Nispel’s (Pathfinder, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) Conan movie happening right now in Bistriza, Bulgaria, a few images from the set have hit the net. While I’d love to tell you we’ve got Jason Momoa as Conan or Rachel Nichols in some awesome looking outfit, for now you’ve going to have to make due with a few images of a muddy village. But for fans of the Conan franchise who have been waiting a long time for this movie, it’s something. Hit the jump to take a look.

Ron Perlman (Hellboy) will play Conan’s (Jason Momoa) father Corin in Marcus Nispel’s upcoming action film, Conan. Mickey Rourke was in talks to play the role, but instead opted to co-star in Tarsem’s War of the Gods. But since Perlman is equally fine casting and with Stephen Lang (Avatar) as the villain, this film is shaping up to have a strong supporting cast of characters bolstering relative-unknown Momoa. The film also has the hotness that is Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) so that ain’t bad either.
Perlman currently co-stars on the FX drama Sons of Anarchy. He’s also due to appear alongside Nicolas Cage in Season of the Witch, which was set to hit theaters next Friday but it’s now been delayed indefinitely. [Vulture]

Rachel Nichols has been cast as Tamara in director Marcus Nispel’s Conan according to Latino Review. She will be joining Jason Momoa (Conan), Mickey Rouke (Corin/Conan’s father), and possibly Stephen Lang, as he’s been offered the role of Khalar Singh (the villain). She appears to have beaten out Cloverfield‘s Jessica Lucas and The L Word’s Sarah Shahi for the role.
With shooting scheduled to begin later this month, expect a few more casting announcements in the very near future. For more on Rachel Nichols character, hit the jump:

Last night I covered the special “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” screening at Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. While there I was able to interview tons of the cast on the red carpet and the interview you’re about to watch is with the beautiful Rachel Nichols.
During our interview she talked about being in “Star Trek” this summer, the promotional tour for “G.I. Joe”, her next film “Meskada” with Nick Stahl, and she continued Marlon Wayans conversation about Japanese bathrooms. Seriously. Of course we talked about other subjects; those are just some of the highlights. Take a look after the jump:
