Thursday evening’s NCAA basketball-hindered TV ratings are in. Here’s a brief rundown:
- ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy was the highest rated program of the night, scoring a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.33 million viewers. That’s down two tenths from last week’s 3.0 rating. Meanwhile, Scandal dropped a tenth from last week to a 2.6 rating and 8.05 million viewers.
- Two new episodes of NBC’s comedy series 1600 Penn scored a series-low 0.7 rating and 1.89 million viewers, which is a two-tenths drop from last week’s 0.9 rating.
- Two episodes of Fox’s Raising Hope notched a 1.4 rating and 4.57 million viewers and a 1.2 rating and 3.49 million viewers, respectively. That’s down from the last original episode’s 1.5 rating.
- Over at The CW, The Vampire Diaries garnered a 1.2 rating and 2.43 million viewers, dropping a tenth from last week’s 1.3 rating. Beauty and the Beast was even with last week’s 0.6 rating in the demo and scored 1.55 million viewers.

Fox’s announcement that they will be stacking their midseason next year with a slate of renewals is of little surprise: The Following, which stars Kevin Bacon, as well as Zooey Deschanel‘s New Girl are two of the network’s top rated series. While some worried about the fates of The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, both have been performing well enough with viewers and critics to warrant an unsurprising return next year.
So far, the only Fox series in question is the Ryan Murphy-helmed musical series Glee, which is sure to be renewed after contract negotiations. For fans of Touch (are there any? Speak now!) the signs are pretty clear that it won’t be returning after this season. For more on the renewed series, hit the jump.

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in. Here’s a brief look at the highlights:
- Smash’s future looks pretty dim. Following the abysmal ratings for its season premiere two weeks ago, last night’s episode dropped a whopping 25% for a series-low 0.9 rating and 3.29 million viewers versus the season two premiere’s 1.2 rating. The NBC drama’s days are likely numbered.

- NBC’s new comedy Go On—which has been one of the better performing new programs of the season—has been having some trouble gaining its momentum back following the December break. Last night’s episode garnered a 1.1 rating and 3.32 million viewers, which is down 15% from its last new episode’s 1.3 rating.
- The series premiere of The CW’s Cult was met with a muted response, as the episode netted a 0.3 rating and 940,000 viewers. For comparison’s sake, that’s down from the now-cancelled Emily Owens, M.D.’s 0.4 rating for its series finale a few weeks ago.
