Back in January we found out that Rachel Taylor, Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh would be our new Charlie’s Angels in the remake of the popular 70′s action series for ABC. Now we have our first unofficial look at the lovely ladies thanks to some photos snapped on the set down in Miami, Florida. In addition to seeing the trio of angels strutting their stuff in some classy white dresses, we also have our first look at Ramon Rodriguez as Bosley, a casting choice that I’m not really all that pleased with to be honest. Anyway, we’ll likely see some photos down the road of the Angels in their action poses, but for now you can check out these first images after the jump:

The Marines used to run commercials that would show a young man taking a sword and battling a fire-breathing dragon. I was always left wondering if anyone ever saw one of those ads, thought “I need to get in on that dragon-fighting action” and were left sorely disappointed when they discovered that the job was short on dragon-slaying, but long on getting shot at.
That recruitment ad has now been expanded to a feature length film with Jonathan Liebesman’s Battle: Los Angeles. While it’s slightly more realistic than sword-fighting a dragon, a platoon of marines taking on space aliens isn’t really what the actual job entails. On a technical level, the film is a dazzling special effects punch of sight and sound that will keep you pinned to your seat and rooting for a small band of soldiers to complete their mission. But there’s nothing thoughtful underneath and the hollowness of the undertaking that may support our troops, but doesn’t provide them with the honesty they deserve.

With director Jonathan Liebesman’s Battle: Los Angeles opening this weekend, I got to speak with most of the cast at the Los Angeles press junket. As most of you know, the film tells the story of an alien invasion as seen through the eyes of a Marine platoon headed up by Aaron Eckhart. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Pena and Ramon Rodriguez. You can watch some clips and read the full synopsis here.
Anyway, every day this week I’m posting a different interview. Yesterday was Eckhart, and today I’ve got Ramon Rodriguez. In the film, Rodriguez plays Marine 2nd Lieutenant William Martinez and when we meet up with him, he’s just taken control of the unit. During the interview, Rodriguez talked about the intense boot camp, his reaction to the film, filming in Louisiana, the big action scenes, and he talks about how he got involved in ABC’s reboot of Charlie’s Angels and who he plays:

Sony has released a new poster for Battle: Los Angeles. I really hope this turns out to be a good flick and not just Independence Day with a shakier camera.
Hit the jump to check out the poster. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, and Michael Peña. The film opens March 11th.

When I got to visit the set of director Jonathan Liebesman’s Battle: Los Angeles when the production was filming in Shreveport, Louisiana in October of 2009, I was able to interview Aaron Eckhart, Michael Peña, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan and Ramon Rodriguez. While some of the group had been filming all day (the interview was one of the last things they did), the group was still really excited to talk to us about how the shoot had been going and why they were excited to be a part of the movie. They also talked about how they got ready for the movie, the challenges of shooting in extreme heat with all the military equipment they had to wear, who they play, the boot camp that some of them had to go through, and a lot more. You can either read or listen to the interview after the jump. Also, if you missed my video blog about going to the set, you can watch it here.

In October of 2009, I was invited to visit the set of Jonathan Liebesman’s Battle: Los Angeles while the production was filming in Shreveport, Louisiana. At the time, I didn’t know much beyond the basics (aliens attack and the Marine’s have to kick ass), but with sci-fi being my favorite genre, I knew that I wanted to see the production up close.
While my set visit illuminated what the film was going to be about and how Liebesman planned to shoot most of the film with handheld cameras, by now most of you already know the basics as the awesome Battle: Los Angeles trailers have been very popular with our readers. However, for the few that haven’t seen them, Battle: L.A. gets released March 11, and it stars Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Pena, Ne-Yo, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ramon Rodriguez and many others.
Even though there are a number of “aliens attacking” movies on the horizon, I really believe Battle: Los Angeles is going to be very cool and most of it stems from being on set and seeing firsthand what the production was trying to accomplish. More after the jump:

After flying under the radar, the upcoming sci-fi action film Battle: Los Angeles premiered a strong teaser trailer last night that should get people talking. It’s a bold trailer without dialogue, haunting music, and lots of explosions. It was even willing to risk not giving the title at the end. There’s now an international trailer online and it takes a more standard approach: voice-over guy, aliens attack, lots of explosions. Sometimes that can work too, although I definitely premiere the US version.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, and Michael Peña. It opens March 11, 2011.

Some new set photos from Battle: Los Angeles have popped up online. They’re not bad for set photos when you consider one of them shows a mushroom cloud going up. That’s slightly better than an actor in costume leaving their trailer. I guess that’s the true power of mushroom clouds. Oh, and they’re the effect of an explosion killing thousands upon thousands of people. That’s also one of the things they’re known for. There’s also a photo of Aaron Eckhart in costume looking like a bad-ass.
Here’s the official plot synopsis so you know what causes mushroom clouds and bad-ass Eckhart: When unknown forces put the City of Angels under attack, it’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to come to the rescue. As the invasion hits the streets of L.A., the Marines become our first and last line of defense against a highly powerful enemy. Bridget Moynahan (I, Robot), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar) and Michael Peña (World Trade Center) co-star alongside an ensemble cast including Ramon Rodriguez and Ne-Yo.
So mushroom clouds and bad-ass Eckhart. What more do you need? Hit the jump to check out the photos. Battle: Los Angeles is slated to hit theaters on February 18, 2011.

With the sci-fi action movie “Battle: Los Angeles” set to start filming this week in New Orleans, director Jonathan Liebesman has added a few more soldiers to his platoon – the kind of soldiers that can act one hopes. Among LA’s new recruits are “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” star Ramon Rodriguez and R & B singer Ne-Yo. More after the jump.

Every once in awhile I forget to post something. The interview I did with Ramon Rodriguez for “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” was one of those things.
I probably would have completely forgotten about it, but in today’s Hero Compex on the L.A. Times website, there is a story that says Ramon’s part in “Transformers 3″ might be a lot bigger. Since many of you have now seen the movie and might want to know more about Ramon and how he got the part…I figured better late than never.
So after the jump you can hear Ramon talk about filming the movie, the viral websites, how he got into acting, and we joke around about how many beautiful women were in the University scenes. He tells me he gave Michael Bay a lot of sh*t for it. It’s a good interview so take a look:
Just a few hours ago, Paramount/DreamWorks held two press conferences here in Los Angeles to promote “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen”. Since I’m not going to have the time to transcribe the interviews tonight, for all the people that wanted to hear what the cast and filmmakers said, I’m offering you the audio files right now.
The first press conference was Scott Farrar (ILM), Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
The second press conference was director Michael Bay, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Kevin Dunn, and Ramon Rodriguez.
While the first one will be informative if you want to hear what went on behind the scenes at ILM and how the script came together, the second one is where it’s at. That’s because the cast was saying some very funny stuff and Michael Bay is…well…Michael Bay. You can never go wrong listening to Bay.
So if you’d like to hear them, here’s the link for the first one, and here’s the link for the second. Look for a lot more from today’s junket very soon.
