Repo Men is like a sci-fi greatest hits album compiled into one film. It has a heaping helping of Minority Report and Repo: The Genetic Opera mixed with Blade Runner, and a dash of Jacob’s Ladder for good measure. The plot follows a sociopathic Repo Man name Remy (Jude Law) whose job is to repossess high tech organs from people when they miss a payment. Lots of gore and sci-fi action ensues and the inevitable reversal when the hunter becomes the hunted. The question is, does this film offer enough new to an already full table of sci-fi hits and misses? My full review of Repo Men after the jump.

After siphoning away 30% of Alice in Wonderland‘s precious 3D screens, Dreamworks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon was the big winner this weekend – although its total may have been a bit under what the studio was hoping for.

As expected, Alice in Wonderland had more than enough momentum to take its third trip to the top of this weekend’s box office chart. Not quite as expected was the name of the film that took second place. Fox’s under-marketed Diary of a Wimpy Kid outperformed the insanely over-hyped launch of The Bounty Hunter… tabloid romance and all.

| 1 | Alice in Wonderland | $34,500,000 | $265.8 |
| 2 | Diary of a Wimpy Kid | $21,800,000 | $21.8 |

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland took the heads off of its competition again on Friday, earning an estimated $9.8 million entering its third weekend in theatres. The 3D flick held on to about 43% of last Friday’s grosses and is on track to add another $30 million to its coffers by Sunday. That’s bad news for the three new wide releases. Of those, The Bounty Hunter had the best showing. The Jennifer Aniston/Gerard Butler vehicle opened with an estimated $7.6 million – good enough for second place. Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid, an adaptation of the children’s book series, wasn’t expected to take in more than $10 million for the entire weekend thanks to the family-siphoning power of Wonderland. After a better than expected Friday of $7.4 million, however, Wimpy now seems poised to overtake Bounty Hunter for the weekend’s second spot. Finally, things look bleak for Universal’s Repo Men. The high-concept action pic could only scrounge up $2.2 million from its 2,521 locations. Full details on all of the weekend’s releases when you check back tomorrow.
| Title | Friday | Total | |
| 1 | Alice in Wonderland | $9,800,000 | $241 |
| 2 | The Bounty Hunter | $7,600,000 | $7.6 |
| 3 | Diary of a Wimpy Kid | $7,400,000 | $7.4 |
| 4 | Repo Men | $2,200,000 | $2.2 |
| 5 | She’s Out of My League | $1,900,000 | $15.8 |

Repo Men is confounding mess of a movie. It wildly throws itself between genres, tones, and styles. What’s so frustrating is that some moments are tons of fun, others are irritatingly melancholy, and then there are moments where the film is so bad it’s good. It’s a whirlwind of a picture that sweeps you up and then smashes you back into the ground. It’s fun and painful at the same time and those sides draw a stalemate in the story of guys who will murder you because you can’t make a payment on your artificial organs. It’s a kind of story that could go in any direction, but it’s amazing how far it tries to go in every direction.

The science-fiction action thriller Repo Men opens this weekend, starring Jude Law, Forest Whitaker and Liev Schreiber. Set in the not-so-distant future, Repo Men centers around Remy, played by Law, an employee of The Union, a company that sells healthy organs to those in need and then repossesses the organs if the customers are unable to pay for them.
Collider caught up with the stars and director at a junket in New York, where they discussed the making of the film, it’s obvious political messages and whether Law or Whitaker was better at kung fu.

Lots of new movies hit the multiplex this weekend, but none of them were in 3D so who cares? Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland continued to dominate, even with a 46% decline over its record-breaking first weekend. Domestically, the film passed the $200 million mark on its tenth day in release while also cleaning up overseas with an additional $221 million.
| Title | Weekend | Total | |
| 1 | Alice in Wonderland | $62,000,000 | $208.6 |
| 2 | Green Zone | $14,535,000 | $14.5 |
| 3 | She’s Out of My League | $9,600,000 | $9.6 |
| 4 | Remember Me | $8,100,000 | $8.1 |
| 5 | Shutter Island | $8,140,000 | $108 |
| 6 | Our Family Wedding | $7,600,000 | $7.6 |
| 7 | Avatar | $6,600,000 | $730.3 |
| 8 | Brooklyn’s Finest | $4,290,000 | $21.3 |
| 9 | Cop Out | $4,320,000 | $39.4 |
| 10 | The Crazies | $3,650,000 | $33.3 |

Universal has released seven movie clips from their upcoming futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. Starring Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten, the film takes place in a future where you can buy replacement organs from a company called The Union. But if you can’t pay your bill, the company sends Repo Men and they’ll take back your organ without any thought to what happens to you.
As most of you know, Repo Men was supposed to be released awhile back, but for whatever reason, it got bumped. Usually when that happens, it’s a cause for concern. But I have to say, after watching the clips, I’m a lot more interested in the film as it looks pretty cool. Hit the jump to check them out for yourself. Repo Men arrives in theaters March 19.

Liev Schreiber misses his claws. Currently starring in the Broadway Revival of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge, the incredibly versatile actor is also featured in the upcoming action thriller Repo Men, co-starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. Playing a longshoreman onstage and an office salesman onscreen, Schreiber, while undoubtedly hard at work, hasn’t flexed his action hero muscles in a while.
Speaking at a junket for Repo Men in New York on Tuesday, Schreiber was asked if he would reprise his role as Sabretooth in the upcoming sequel to Wolverine. Schreiber mentioned that he had dinner with Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman on Monday night and that Jackman had read the first draft of the script for the sequel, but he was not sure if Sabretooth would be in the film.
“Do I miss my claws? Schreiber said of his superhero role. “I miss my claws deeply. In the Japan storyline as I remember it from the Wolverine comics, Victor wasn’t there. So I don’t know. Of course I’ve got my fingers crossed because I love the character so much, to have the chance to do it again would be a lot of fun, but I’m not sure.”

Universal has just sent over 27 high res images and 5 posters from their futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. The film stars Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten. Here’s the one liner:
A repo man, made up of artificial organs, receives a heart transplant and, when he struggles to make the payments, must go on the run from his former partner.
We’ll have a lot more on this film as the press junket was in New York City today and a new Collider writer was there. Until then, hit the jump for the images and posters:

Through the power of black magic, an all new The Losers TV spot has been unleashed upon the world. Watching the spot makes me wonder when some brainy studio executive will finally decide to make some easy cash off of an A-Team remake (excuse my sarcasm). In other visual marketing related movie news, a shiny new poster for the Jude Law and Forest Whitaker led Repo Men was unveiled today as well. Some medical company needs to start slinging artificial livers already. Seriously. View both, after the jump.

Per boxofficemojo.com, Sony’s Screen Gems has shuffled the release dates for a few of its upcoming films. Thriller The Roommate, starring Leighton Meester, has been bumped from September 17th to February 4, 2011. Crime thriller Takers, starring Idris Elba and Matt Dillon, originally set for release on May 14th, moves to August 20th. Underworld 4, which will see director Len Wiseman return to the helmer’s chair of the action-horror franchise, has been bumped from January 21, 2011 to September 23, 2011; moreover, according to boxofficemojo.com, the film will apparently not be shot in 3D, despite previous reports. Another action-horror title, Priest, starring Paul Bettany, will be getting the 3D treatment (in post-production) and, as a result, has been bumped from August 20th to January 14, 2011. Finally, high school comedy Easy A, starring Emma Stone, has been assigned a September 17, 2010 release date.
Finally, Universal’s sci-fi actioner Repo Men, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, has been bumped up from April 2nd to March 19th.
Hit the jump to see what all 6 films will have to contend with at the box office on their new release dates.

“Have you ever wanted to disappear?” That’s what Lone Shark Games, Wired Magazine, and Universal Pictures want to know in their latest publicity stunt to promote the upcoming picture Repo Men, a sci-fi action flick about a man on the run from creditors aiming to repossess his heart. The film stars Liev Schreiber, Jude Law, and Forest Whitaker and opens April 2nd. More details on the contest and how you can enter to win after the jump.

Box Office Mojo has some release date changes/announcements and we wanted to let you know about so you can be upset at a delay or pleased at the haste. First up, The Eagle of the Ninth, the sword-and-sandals flick starring Channing Tatum, has landed a specific release date of September 24th. It had previously been scheduled for “September 2009″.
Meanwhile, Fox is moving the family film Diary of a Wimpy Kid out of the April 2nd battlefield (when Clash of the Titans, Repo Men, and Why Did I get Married Too are scheduled to debut) and moving it to March 19th where it will square off against the rom-com The Bounty Hunter (starring Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston), the rock biopic The Runaways (starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning; click here to read Steve’s Sundance review of the film), and the medieval action flick Season of the Witch (starring Nicolas Cage, Nicolas Cage’s hairpiece, and Ron Perlman).
Finally, The Duplass Brothers’ Cyrus, starring John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei, and Jonah Hill, will hit theaters on July 9th where it will face Nimrod Antal’s Predators and the animated comedy Despicable Me.

A new viral site is up for the upcoming Jude Law and Forest Whitaker sci-fi film Repo Men, and it’s pretty awesome. At http://www.theunioncares.com/, you can watch testimonials from “recipients” of top-of-the-line synthetic organs, view the entire line of Artiforg products including artificial eyes, cool-looking hearts, and a plethora of other expensive replacement parts. And look, you can even lease some of your very own, but just as long as you can pay. The alternative isn’t so pleasant. There’s also a career opportunities section and a history of the company for your perusal. The site is really cool and interactive, and it’ll get you even more excited for one of the most promising sci-fi films of the year.
Repo Men is slated to hit theaters on April 2nd. Hit the jump to check out the official synopsis. You can also click here to check out hi-res images of the slick teaser posters for the film.
