The Twitter account of producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been a great source of information for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  He has tweeted our first look at the logo, a rather striking photo of Johnny Depp on the set, and the revelation that the trailer would be attached to Tron: Legacy.  His latest tweet confirms the December 17th premiere date of the teaser trailer, and shares that they officially wrapped this week.  By my count, that’s five months of filming.  I’m sure we’ll see it all up on the screen.

Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Gemma Ward, Stephen Graham, and Richard Griffiths star; Rob Marshall (Chicago) directed the film, about Captain Jack Sparrow’s search for the Fountain of Youth.  Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in 3D on May 20, 2011.

We have two bits of casting news for you today.  First, Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter) is playing King George II in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  News of Griffiths involvement comes via his Pirates co-star Geoffrey Rush who, in an interview with Empire, discussed shooting scenes with the “wonderful, congenial, and very delightful” Griffiths.  As for the scenes themselves, Rush does not elaborate much past acknowledging that “as a privateer in his court, I mentor him (Griffiths).”  In addition to Rush and Griffiths, Pirates also stars Johnny Depp, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham, Gemma Ward, and Penelope Cruz.  While Disney’s fourth installment isn’t slated to hit theaters until May 20th, 2011, you should be able to check out its teaser trailer in front of Tron: Legacy on December 17th.

To learn about Eugene Levy taking a role that doesn’t involve the American Pie franchise, hit the jump.

Sony has just sent out a press release saying production has begun on Martin Scorsese’s first 3D movie Hugo Cabret and they’ve included the full cast.  What’s interesting about the press release is the title change.  The book is called The Invention of Hugo Cabret, but it looks like the studio is shortening it to just the final two words.

The other big news from the press release is the listing of the full cast.  While we already knew Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen and Chloë Moretz were in the film, Scorsese has also landed Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Ray Winstone and Richard Griffiths.  Needless to say, this is a film we’ll be watching closely.  Hit the jump for more details and the full press release:

By now you’ve probably noticed that Steve got an ungodly amount of material from this year’s American Film Market (AFM). The place where buyers and sellers do business to bring you the films you’ll hopefully be seeing in the near future, AFM has tons of artwork and synopses which are used to promote films but which we will use to bring you news on these films.  We have reached the last piece of our AFM coverage.  It’s been a long and fruitful journey and you can follow it by reading parts Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, and Part 7 by click on their respective links.

Below you’ll find posters for Conan and The Promised Land (The Wettest County in the World), images and synopses for animated film Dorothy of Oz and Jackboots on Whitehall plus images and synopses for the live-action movies Singularity, The Last Dragon, and my favorite, Alien vs. Ninja.  Hit the jump to check them all out. Please note that all the synopses are copied down directly from the original materials with no editorial alterations.
