Peter Segal (Get Smart) is reportedly in talks to direct Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious) in the action film, The Machine for MGM. At the moment, Segal is currently attached to Warner Bros. pictures Grudge Match and the adaptation of the manga, Bleach, so this more than likely won’t be his next feature. Segal is producing Bleach and may end up directing the picture, while he is attached to direct the Grudge Match, about a boxing rematch between aging fighters. Diesel, meanwhile, is currently in post-production on The Untitled Chronicles of Riddick Sequel, which we can expect to see sometime early next year. Hit the jump for more information on his involvement in The Machine, as well as the picture’s plot synopsis.

Though principal photography on the film has wrapped, Vin Diesel isn’t done sharing images from the sequel Riddick. The actor is currently prepping to shoot Fast and Furious 6 this summer, but he took some time to post this new image to his Facebook page. Last week Diesel revealed that the earliest possible release date for Riddick would be January 2013, but he added that the studio is very pleased with what it’s seeing and is already asking about further sequels. Riddick serves as the follow-up to The Chronicles of Riddick and finds our anti-hero luring bounty-hungry mercenaries in order to escape from a planet filled with alien predators.

Vin Diesel recently posted some updates on his Facebook page that suggest we might be seeing Riddick as early as January of next year. Principal photography wrapped recently on Riddick, the third film in a franchise that started with Pitch Black. While Diesel was hoping to see a release in 2012, this comes as a good sign that the studio is happy with what they’re seeing. That bodes well, not only for Riddick, but for the potential sequels if Riddick proves commercially successful. Be sure to check out some images from set here. The extensive cast includes Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Molla, Bokeem Woodbine, David Bautista, Matt Nable, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk, and Keri Hilson. It’s been a long way to get Richard B. Riddick (Vin Diesel) to his third movie, but filming has now wrapped on the series’ third installment, Riddick. Director David Twohy made the announcement on his official website, where he also posted a photo of him posing with the actors who play the movie’s mercenaries. The plot of the third film has Riddick luring the bounty-hungry mercs in order to escape from a planet filled with alien predators. I like looking at this image and imagining that Twohy is playing a rookie mercenary who joined up after taking his kid to soccer practice.

Vin Diesel has unveiled a few more images from the currently-in-production Riddick, giving us our first look at Katee Sackhoff and a gnarly looking creature. Diesel mentioned in the posting of the image that Sackoff wrapped shooting on the film early this morning. She plays a mercenary named Dahl, but she’s doing her best Starbuck impression from Battlestar Galactica in this new image. Granted, both projects are in the sci-fi realm so we were probably already thinking about her Battlestar Galactica character anyway, but the wardrobe here is very similar. The third installment of the series that began with Pitch Black was followed by 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick finds our antihero left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that’s infested with alien predators. Continuing with star Vin Diesel’s stream of set photos and images from Riddick, the actor unveiled a new image from the film today giving us our first look at the mercs. The third installment of the series that began with Pitch Black was followed by 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick finds our antihero left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that’s infested with alien predators. Riddick activates an emergency beacon that alerts mercenaries to come collect their bounty: one ship carrying a new breed of merc and another ship captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is incredibly personal. This image shows us some of the mercs, and I’m fairly certain the one in the center is WWE star David Bautista.

The very kind Vin Diesel has shared a couple more images from the set of Riddick. The film is the third in a series of pics that began with Pitch Black and continued with The Chronicles of Riddick. These new images show Diesel onset with director David Twohy, who wrote and directed the first two films. Battlestar Galactica vet Katee Sackhoff and Bad Boys II villain Jordi Molla join Diesel as two separate mercenaries bent on hunting down Riddick, with Karl Urban reprising his role as Lord Vaako.

New images from The Hunger Games and Byzantium have gone online along with a new set photo from Riddick. The image from The Hunger Games gives us another look at Donald Sutherland as the villainous President Snow. Reading the books, I thought Sutherland was a fine choice because A) he can convey the heartlessness of the character; and B) the role will probably keep to the unofficial rule that after the year 2000, Donald Sutherland can’t be in a movie for longer than 15 minutes.

In case you were somehow confused by the recent set photos Vin Diesel has been sending out, Universal Pictures has announced that principal photography has officially begun on Riddick. The press release provides an updated synopsis and casting info. We knew that Diesel would be joined by Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, and Jordi Molla, but now Bokeem Woodbine and David Bautista have been confirmed as cast members. The film also stars Matt Nable, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk, and Keri Hilson.

Vin Diesel has been extremely generous when it comes to fans of Riddick. He lobbied incredibly hard to get the Chronicles of Riddick sequel made in the first place, and now that production is underway he’s been sharing production photos from the set. Diesel sent out a new image from the set today, giving us another look at the actor in character. While it’s nice to be getting these looks at the titular Riddick, I’m hoping Diesel sends out photos of his castmates soon. Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff plays Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tasked with tracking down Riddick, and Jordi Molla is onboard as Santana, a leader of an eight-man crew bent on killing the anti-hero.

Now that filming on Riddick has begun, it looks like Vin Diesel will be sending out a steady stream of set photos. Nine days ago, we got our first look at everyone’s favorite Furyan and now Diesel has released another set photo. As you can see from this set photo, Vin Diesel is in the movie and it looks like he’ll be reprising his role of anti-hero Richard B. Riddick. This is only speculation on my part. Take it with a grain of salt.

Production on the long-gestating sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick is finally underway, and star Vin Diesel kicked things off right by giving fans a look at himself in full costume on set. David Twohy returns to write and direct Riddick, and quite a few exciting new names have come onboard the project. Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff plays Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tasked with tracking down the titular anti-hero, and Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II) plays Santana, a leader of an eight-man crew bent on killing Riddick (long story short, everyone wants to kill Riddick). Karl Urban is reprising his role as Lord Vaako, and Diesel looks comfortably familiar back in his Riddick garb.

Earlier today, at the TCA Winter Press Tour, Collider got the opportunity to sit down with actress Katee Sackhoff for an exclusive interview. While she was there to promote her new A&E western crime drama Longmire, which debuts this summer, we did also get the chance to ask her about the role she recently signed on to play in the upcoming Riddick sequel with Vin Diesel, that is being directed by David Twohy.
Sackhoff talked about having grown up watching science fiction and action, what a huge fan she is of the first two movies, how excited she is “to go blow some shit up,” her crazy (and I mean crazy!) audition story, and how she’s already packed on nine pounds of muscle in training, in an attempt to compete with her co-star. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

While you probably know her as Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica, Katee Sackhoff will soon have a new sci-fi franchise to add to her repertoire. We previously reported that Sackhoff was being considered for a role opposite Vin Diesel in the upcoming sci-fi flick, Riddick. It now looks as if she’s a lock as Sackhoff is reported to be in final negotiations for the role. She’ll be playing Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tasked with tracking down the titular anti-hero. Also playing the mercenary game is Jordi Molla (Blow) who will play Santana, a leader of an eight-man crew bent on killing Riddick. Things are not looking up for our favorite Furyan.
The third installment of the franchise that started with Pitch Black and staggered with The Chronicles of Riddick was once again written and directed by David Twohy; it also stars Karl Urban reprising his role as Lord Vaako. Hit the jump for more on Riddick.

Vin Diesel has been all too happy to share tidbits of information and concept art from the upcoming Riddick, but production on the sequel was halted when the production company ran out of money, and couldn’t pay the owner of the Montreal studio where filming was underway. However, TMZ [via CinemaBlend] is reporting that the movie has secured new financing, paid off its debt, and that filming is set to resume on December 28th. As we previously reported, Riddick is trying to keep costs more along the lines of Pitch Black in order to maintain an R-rating and (hopefully) have an easier time of turning a profit. 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick flopping at the box office sent the franchise into stasis (although they were able to squeeze out the video game Assault on Dark Athena in 2009). Hopefully, the production won’t have to worry about being shut down again.
David Twohy‘s Riddick also stars Karl Urban and possibly Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, and Dave Bautista. Hit the jump for the official synopsis. If filming does pick up before year’s end and Riddick can find distribution, it might hit theaters in 2012.
