Hit the jump for more details on each project.

First up from Heat Vision, comes news that actor Cole Hauser is set for a role in Alcon Entertainment’s Transcendence. Hauser will be joining a star-packed cast comprised of Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, and Paul Bettany. The sci-fi thriller follows two computer scientists as they try to develop technology that will allow computer intelligence to surpass that of humans, when a computer “develops a malevolent awareness.” Hauser will play a military officer in charge of resolving the aftermath of this error. Christopher Nolan will serve as executive producer for the film, while the project marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight Rises).

Next, from Deadline, we learn that Rosario Dawson has been cast to star opposite Chris Rock in his latest untitled comedy. Details on her role are scarce at the moment. Rock wrote and will direct the film, described as an “edgy showbiz-themed comedy with romance.” The comedian is said to be working in conjunction with producers Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, while the pic is being ...

Trance, the new film from Danny Boyle, opens in limited release this weekend. The hypnotic crime thriller stars James McAvoy as Simon, an art auctioneer who engineers a heist, but develops amnesia and forgets where he stashed the goods. His criminal partner, Franck (Vincent Cassel), is none too happy with this, and resorts to hiring Elizabeth (Rosario Dawson), a hypnotist who attempts to help Simon recover his memory. For more on the film, here’s the red band trailer, some posters, and everything else we’ve posted on the movie.

At the film's Los Angeles press day, I landed a video interview with Rosario Dawson. We talked about how she got involved in Trance, her reaction to reading the script, what it will take for her to be in a big comic book movie, Sin City 2, how she's developing her comic book O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce into a show with Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd, and a lot more. Hit the jump to watch.

Simon (James McAvoy), a fine art auctioneer, teams up with a criminal gang to steal a Goya paintingworth millions of dollars, but after suffering a blow to the head during the heist he awakens to discover he has no memory of where he hid the painting. When physical threats and torture fail to produce answers, the gang’s leader Frank (Vincent Cassel) hires hypnotherapist Elizabeth Lamb (Rosario Dawson) to delve into the darkest recesses of Simon’s psyche. As Elizabeth begins to unravel Simon’s broken subconscious, the lines between truth, suggestion, and deceit begin to blur.

Rosario Dawson takes on one of the biggest acting challenges of her career playing an alluring hypnotherapist hired to help recover an amnesiac thief’s (James McAvoy) lost memories in Academy Award winning director Danny Boyle’s crime thriller, Trance, opening in theaters on April 5th. When an adeptly planned heist at an auction house goes violently awry, the story quickly turns into a high stakes triangle where the painting’s thief, his partner in crime (Vincent Cassel), and the hypnotist all become trapped together in a mind bending puzzle of their own making.

At a roundtable interview at the film’s recent press day, Dawson talked about working with Boyle and helping to bring his vision to life. She discussed preparing for the pivotal role, taking audiences on a fascinating journey into the world of the subconscious, finding a way to play a very complex character without giving away too much to the audience, holding her own as the female at the center of a male-dominated story, and her nude scene with McAvoy that is one of the movie’s most powerful moments. Hit the jump to read more.

Question: Have you ever undergone hypnosis?

Rosario Dawson: We had someone who came in to see us in London to try to put us under. We all very much wanted to go under, but we were also incredibly distracted trying to see if anyone else had gone under. James had a moment where he couldn’t pry his fingers apart. Vincent doesn’t believe it at all and thinks he ...

A new trailer for director Danny Boyle's Trance has debuted. This hypnotic crime thriller centers on James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) as Simon, a criminal mastermind behind an art heist who develops amnesia and forgets where he stashed the goods. The mob boss, played by Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), is none too happy with this and resorts to torture to get his information. Rosario Dawson (Sin City) also stars as a hypnotist who attempts to jumpstart Simon’s memory in another way. This cut leaves out the bloody violence of the red-band trailer and focuses instead on the beautiful technicolor vision of Boyle's latest thriller.

Scope out a clip from the film here and check back soon for related interviews. Trance opens in the U.K. March 27th and in limited release stateside starting April 5th. Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.

A new red-band trailer for Danny Boyle's Trance is now available. The crime-thriller stars James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) as Simon, a criminal mastermind behind an art heist who develops amnesia and forgets where he stashed the goods. The mob boss, played by Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), is none too happy with this and resorts to torture to get his information. Rosario Dawson (Sin City) also stars as a hypnotist who attempts to jumpstart Simon's memory in another way. This trailer certainly earns its red-band status with a combination of bloody torture, sex and violence and looks to be another Boyle classic.

Trance will open on March 27th in the U.K. and April 5th in the U.S. Hit the jump to watch the new red-band trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis for Trance:
TRANCE, directed by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) and co-written by Oscar®-nominated long term collaborator John Hodge (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting) is a seductive and enigmatic thriller starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.

Fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious.

In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly – and perhaps shrewdly – to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

Four posters have been released for Danny Boyle's upcoming thriller, Trance. The story centers on an art heist that goes sideways when its mastermind (James McAvoy) gets amnesia and can’t remember where he stashed the loot. Vincent Cassel co-stars as mob boss leading the heist gang, and Rosario Dawson plays a hypnotist who tries to get the memories out of McAvoy’s character. Three of the posters provide some nice optical illusions, and I don't know if another recent major film has tried this other than Men in Black 3 and The Prestige.

Hit the jump to check out the U.K. posters. Trance opens in the U.K. on March 27th. A U.S. release is expected in the near future.

First up from Variety comes word that Dawson will star in Queen of the Night, co-written by Egoyan and David Fraser. The story centers on father (Reynolds) of an abducted child who is convinced his daughter is still alive. Dawson will play the detective in charge of the investigation. Filming is expected to start in February. Dawson, who is currently filming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, also has Parts Per Billion with Josh Hartnett, Penn Badgley and Frank Langella; Diego Luna's biopic Chavez with Michael Peña and in the Danny Boyle thriller Trance with James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel this year.

The first trailer for Danny Boyle's crime-thriller Trance has gone online. The trailer shows off the vibrant, twisty cinematography that has become a trademark of Boyle's work, and McAvoy looks like he's at the top of his game. My only problem with the trailer is that I think it might give away too much of the plot.

Just yesterday we learned of a possible March U.K. release date for director Danny Boyle’s upcoming thriller Trance, and today the first official images from the film have landed online. Boyle notes that the film isn’t a straightforward thriller, and describes it as an “updated noir” that’s more emotionally charged than previous entries in the genre. There also appears to be a love triangle aspect involving the three lead characters.

Hit the jump to check out the images and to read a few quotes from Boyle regarding the pic. The film is reportedly set for release on March 27, 2013 in the U.K. [Update: The folks at Pathe Productions Limited have reached out to us to confirm the U.K. release date.]

Speaking with USA Today (which also provided the images), Boyle spoke about the film’s tone:
“It begins like [a thriller]. But it takes the idea of a stolen painting and develops into something sleeker and more psychological, with twists and turns.”
The director also talked about his aim with the pic’s genre:
“I wanted to do an updated noir, give it a contemporary spin in terms of emotion," adds Boyle, determined to not reveal too much. "Noir is usually cold. I wanted it to be more emotionally charged. ...

We haven't heard much about Danny Boyle's Trance this year, but that's not too surprising since he was busy taking every British thing ever and putting it into the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. The movie centers on an art heist that goes sideways when its mastermind (James McAvoy) gets amnesia and can’t remember where he stashed the loot. Vincent Cassell co-stars as mob boss leading the heist gang, and Rosario Dawson plays a hypnotist who tries to get the memories out of McAvoy's character. Boyle shot the film back in 2011, but he held off on post-production until he was done with the Olympics. Now that those are finished, work on Trance has resumed, and a U.K. release may have been announced. Trance is reportedly set to open in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2013.

Hit the jump for more.

The Film Stage reports that March 27, 2013 is set for the U.K. and that the U.S. might see the film in the spring as well. While distributor Pathe has yet to confirm the date, Total Film [via The Playlist] is also reporting March 27th. If that's the case, we should start seeing some marketing for the film very soon.

Here's the long synopsis for Trance:
TRANCE, directed by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) and co-written by Oscar®-nominated long term collaborator John Hodge (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting) is a seductive and enigmatic thriller starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.

With production looming closer, we’re starting to get word regarding the final confirmed cast for director Robert Rodriguez’s long-in-the-works sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Back in April we heard that Rosario Dawson was planning on reprising her role as Gail in the follow-up, but subsequent press releases for the film left her name off the cast list. Now the actress herself has confirmed her involvement to E! Online:
"It's in! It's happening! Can't tell you nothing."
If I remember correctly, prostitute dominatrix Gail shows up about halfway through Frank Miller's graphic novel , but the protagonist of A Dame to Kill For is Dwight. That character was played by Clive Owen in the first film, but in A Dame to Kill For he has a different face. We still haven’t heard if Owen will be back or who (if anyone) is taking on the character in the sequel, but Dawson is a welcome addition to the cast. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens on October 4th, 2013.

We've got the first trailer for 10 Years, an ensemble comedy centering on a group of friends at their high school reunion. The directorial debut of Jamie Linden (Dear John), 10 Years stars Channing Tatum as Jake, who is ready to propose to his girlfriend (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) until he runs into his old flame (Rosario Dawson) at the reunion. The film also stars Chris Pratt, Justin Long, Max Minghella, Kate Mara, Oscar Isaac, Ari Graynor and Lynn Collins. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Check out the new trailer for 10 Years below (via EW), followed by the official synopsis:

In this ensemble comedy, 10 Years follows a group of friends on the night of their high school reunion who, a decade later, still haven’t quite grown up. Channing Tatum plays Jake, who is deeply in love with his girlfriend (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and ready to propose—until he runs into his high school flame (Rosario Dawson) for the first time in ten years. Jake’s friend Cully (played by funnyman Chris Pratt) married his cheerleader girlfriend (Ari Graynor), and has been looking forward to the reunion so he can finally apologize to all the classmates he bullied in high school. However, after a few too many drinks, the jock-turned-family man ends up reverting back to his old ways instead. Meanwhile, longtime rivals Marty (Justin Long) and A.J (Max Minghella) spend the night still trying to one-up each other to impress thecoolest girl in class (Lynn Collins), who now has a secret. The famous ...

In 1995, Will Smith starred in the first of three back-to-back films that would rocket his career into superstardom and solidify his status as a box office king. He kicked things off with Michael Bay’s feature directorial debut, Bad Boys, followed by the large-scale sci-fi actioner Independence Day, and rounded things off with the franchise-starter Men in Black. The third installment in the sci-fi comedy series, Men in Black 3, just opened in theaters and now Men in Black and Men in Black II have been released on Blu-ray to mark the occasion. Hit the jump for our review of both films on Blu-ray.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld took a gamble when casting two actors who could not be more different to lead Men in Black. A large amount of the film’s success is due to the dynamite chemistry between Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The pic opens with Jones’ Agent K tracking down an illegal alien of the extraterrestrial sort on the U.S./Mexico border, and the sequences serves as an introduction to who the Men in Black are and what they do. K’s partner leaves the agency on account of his old age, and we’re then introduced to Smith’s character, a rookie police officer in New York with great talent and a disregard for authority.

Smith’s character tries to apprehend what he thinks is a standard criminal, but the perp reveals himself to be a non-human before jumping off the top of a building. When K travels to the police department to ...

Production has completed on the neo noir caper Hotel Noir, and the first image from the film has been released. Snakes on a Plane screenwriter Sebastián Gutiérrez tries his hand as a director at the noir genre in the 1950s-set film that centers on a detective holed up in a downtown hotel waiting for assassins to kill him. We follow the detective through the night as he meets and converses with various characters who have haunted pasts of their own. This being a Gutiérrez film, it’s described as a “sexually charged” crime film. The cast is fairly impressive and includes Rufus Sewell, Carla Gugino, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Malin Akerman, and Robert Forster. The pic is currently without distribution, but it will be shopped to international buyers in Cannes.

Last week, we reported that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City 2 had finally secured financing, and that filming was due to take place this summer. The sequel, officially titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, has now lined up its first two actors by bringing back Sin City stars Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson. Since A Dame to Kill For is actually a prequel, it allows room to bring back popular tough guy, Marv (Rourke), and prostitute dominatrix, Gail (Dawson).

Hit the jump for more.

Here's what Rodriguez told MTV about bringing back Rourke and Dawson:
"[Rourke is] all excited to come back, but he's probably the first one," Rodriguez told MTV of returning players. "I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she's pumped. They've always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun."
The protagonist of A Dame to Kill For is Dwight McCarthy, who was played by Clive Owen in Sin City. However, the first movie combined Books 1, 3, and 4 of Miller's gritty series of graphic novels (The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill, and That Yellow Bastard, respectively). Dame is the second book in the series, and Dwight has a different face. If Owen were to return, the filmmakers could slather him in make-up, but it would probably be easier to simply recast part up until Dwight gets his Owen-face.

Here's the synopsis for Frank Miller's A Dame to Kill For.

Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Pablo Cruz started developing a Cesar Chavez biopic at their Canana Films nearly two years ago. Chavez is a legendary activist and Latino icon, revered for his efforts in the American labor movement, so his portrayer must be chosen with care. Two years later, Canana came up with an inspired choice: Michael Pena. I've noticed Pena most visibly in recent years creating distinct comic characters in lighter fare like Observe and Report or 30 Minutes or Less. But the actor made is name in heavier dramas like Crash and World Trade Center. Pena is versatile, and you need an actor who can tap into both sides of the craft to play an iconic figure who is a true leader of men.

Luna stepped behind the camera in 2010 to direct Abel, and has decided to make the biopic Chavez his second narrative feature. Luna cast Rosario Dawson as Dolores Huerta, Chavez's partner in activism and co-founder of what eventually became the United Farm Workers. America Ferrera will play Chavez's wife Helen. Hit the jump for more, including comments from Luna on the importance of Chavez's message.

Luna told Variety:
"This man inspired an entire community to see themselves as deserving of basic rights and to rise up against injustice. The film will send the message that change is in our hands---Chavez did something everyone thought impossible with a fearless grace that magnetized an entire country."
The script by Keir Pearson ...

New images have been released for the likely-direct-to-DVD movie Fire with Fire. The film stars Josh Duhamel as a fireman who has to take matters into his own hands when he’s threatened by a man he’s going to testify against. So how do I know this movie is going direct-to-DVD? For starters, the movie stars Bruce Willis and lately his small-budget thrillers are going to stores instead of theaters (Setup and Catch .44). Second, it co-stars 50 Cent whose last seven movies haven't made it into theaters (as well they shouldn't).

But hey, maybe the movie will make it to the big screen, in which case the world can once again be reminded that 50 Cent should never be in movies. Hit the jump to check out the images. Fire with Fire also stars Rosario Dawson, Richard Schiff, and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Following a grueling day of work, firefighter Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) and his co-workers contemplate ending the day with a refreshing drink. When Jeremy enters the liquor store to buy more alcohol, he unknowingly witnesses the clerk being brutally murdered at the hands of Hagan (Vincent D’Onofrio), a white supremacist. After Jeremy narrowly escapes with his life, police detective Mike Cella (Bruce Willis) learns of Hagan’s recent crime and takes an interest in the case. People tend to freak out a little when it comes to their ten year high school reunion. They see it as a chance to make up for past regrets, prove how well they're doing (even if they're not), and regress a bit to the meaningless drama of our teenage years. Jamie Linden's Ten Year gets the meaningless drama part. Following a group of male friends and their female appendages, Ten Year features redundant storylines, a dearth of humor, an almost total lack of creativity, and a waste of a perfectly good cast.

Jake (Channing Tatum), Cully (Chris Pratt), Reeves (Oscar Isaac), AJ (Max Minghella), and Marty (Justin Long) are all headed to their ten year high school reunion. Cully sees it as a chance to make amends to all the nerds he bullied. Jake sees it as a chance to reconnect with his Mary (Rosario Dawson), a girl he was attracted to. Reeves sees it as a chance to reconnect with Elise (Kate Mara), a girl he was attracted to. AJ and Mitch see it as a chance to reconnect with Anna (Lynn Collins), a girl they were attracted to. Surrounding these plots lines are satellite characters who don't deserve mentioning since they add nothing to film except for an amusing running gag between an alumni who used to be a wigger and his wife (Aubrey Plaza) who is just now discovering this fact.

I'm not against having a "guy reconnects with attractive girl" plotline. I'm against having three of them. Of ...

New images have gone online for the upcoming action flicks The Expatriate and Fire with Fire. The Expatriate stars Aaron Eckhart as a former CIA agent who moves to Belgium with his estranged 15-year-old daughter (Liana Liberato) and takes a job as a security consultant at a multinational corporation. But then he discovers that his co-workers are gone, the corporation no longer exists and his assistant is actually a trained operative trying to kill him. Upside: great dental program. Olga Kurylenko co-stars as Eckhart's former lover/CIA partner tasked with tracking him down.

As for Fire with Fire, the film stars Josh Duhamel as a fireman who has to take matters into his own hands when he's threatened by a man he's going to testify against. Hint: he does it with fire. The film also stars Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, 50 Cent, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. It could end up in theaters, but my gut tells me this is headed straight to DVD with maybe a cursory stint on VOD. Hit the jump to check out the images. No release dates have been announced for The Expatriate or Fire with Fire.
