Two new posters have been released for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The only movie this summer with a ninja avalanche, the second G.I. Joe film looks like all kinds of fun. The story has the Joes striking back after almost being wiped out by Cobra forces under the direction of Cobra Commander and Presidential impersonator, Zartan (the President is played by Jonathan Pryce). However, I’m not sure the Joes will succeed if they can’t even notice the giant Cobra Commander head behind them.

Though we’ve already posted a bounty of G.I. Joe: Retaliation material over the past few days, there’s one more Joe-related story to add to the pile: an international trailer. The new trailer for the sequel premiered yesterday, and this international trailer differs from that one in two ways: more global focus, and more ninjas. The first trailer for the film pleasantly surprised me, but yesterday’s clip left me a little disheartened. I want to see a movie that’s not simply a CGI-heavy Transformers rehash, and I’m hoping director Jon M. Chu has a fun take up his sleeve that’s more hand-to-hand combat oriented. Ninjas automatically make a movie at least 45% cooler, and Dwayne Johnson is the king of charisma.
Hit the jump to check out the international trailer and for a quick rundown on all our recent G.I. Joe: Retaliation coverage. The film opens on June 29th and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

Paramount has released a new trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation that reveals more of the story and showcases some really cool action that’s been amplified by some great looking CGI. While I was in the minority for liking the first G.I. Joe movie, I’ll admit the new trailer looks like a huge step forward for the franchise and the casting of Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original Joe seems like it’s going to pay off in a big way at the box office. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer which features London getting hit by a Cobra missle.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens June 29 and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

While Samuel L. Jackson’s role in the upcoming superhero epic The Avengers certainly won’t hurt his status as “highest grossing actor ever,” that doesn’t mean the veteran will neglect his acting roots. Jackson once again teams with director Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained later this year, a movie which draws inspiration from some of the ugliest events in American history. While we’ve brought you some good looking images of Christoph Waltz in character and of the first teaser poster, the plot itself is a bit on the ugly side. It revolves around Django, a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) and Dr. King Schultz, a German-born bounty hunter (Waltz) who are out to rescue Django’s wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington). Jackson plays a “house slave” of plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). The outstanding cast also includes Kurt Russell, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Django Unchained opens December 25th. Hit the jump to see what Jackson had to say about how Tarantino aims to handle the sensitive subject matter.

It’s easy to get overshadowed with The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises crowding the spotlight, but G.I. Joe: Retaliation has more than enough might to muscle their way in. In these new character images, we get a look at our favorite Joes in action, including the original Joe (Bruce Willis). In this sequel directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3D), the Joes are decimated by a Cobra attack that leaves only a few of the good guys standing. The remaining Joes must band together to take down the evil organization. G.I. Joe: Retaliation also stars Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson and D.J. Cotrona. Following the release of the excellent teaser poster for Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained, The Weinstein Company has now released the film’s official synopsis. Briefly, the movie takes place before the Civil War, and follows Django (Jamie Foxx), an escaped slave who teams up with a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) in order to rescue Django’s wife (Kerry Washington) from a cruel plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). The outstanding cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

With Toy Fair starting today in New York City, we’ve been provided with an insane amount of images from Hasbro’s upcoming toy lines. A few minutes ago we posted all the upcoming Avengers movie toys, and now we’ve got all the G.I. Joe toys arriving in 2012. If you’ve been looking forward to the G.I. Joe sequel (titled G.I. Joe Retaliation), you’re going to dig the toy images as they include Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, RZA as Blind Master, Bruce Willis as Joe Colton, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Channing Tatum as Duke, and some great looks at Cobra Commander, Zartan, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, and many more. The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has gone online. While I was underwhelmed by the Entertainment Tonight sneak peek, this full trailer is actually kind of fantastic (actual trailer editors > ET editors). It’s got some stellar action, a cool story, and a chill-inducing shot featuring the White House. The story finds the Joes in deep, as the entirety of the G.I. Joe team has been killed save for a few remaining survivors. Director Jon Chu has staged some nice action sequences here, and the trailer is elevated by a nifty cut of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

While on the set of Takashi Shimizu’s upcoming aviation thriller 7500 I got to sit down with a few other journalists and Jamie Chung to discuss her role. We’ll have the full interview and a set visit write up closer to the film’s release. Today we have a short update from Chung on Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and his Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino produced Kung-Fu film, The Man with the Iron Fists. The movie takes place in feudal China and centers on a small village’s weapon-maker who must defend its peoples. RZA wrote the pic alongside Roth, and the cast also includes Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, and Pam Grier. Chung discussed the film’s original four-hour cut, the idea of splitting it in half, RZA’s famous obsession with obscure Asian action films and reveals that they’re eyeing an August 2012 release. Hit the jump to see what she had to say.

Brilliantly slotted for a Christmas 2012 release, Django Unchained is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated movies. With a cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Samuel L. Jackson just to name a few, how could it not be? Now, the ever-busy RZA has reportedly joined the Quentin Tarantino spaghetti Western picture as Thaddeus, a slave on a Mississippi plantation with a propensity towards violence.
In more light-hearted news, Brian Cox (Super Troopers) may return to comedic form, as the Scottish thespian is in final negotiations to join Warner Bros’ Dog Fight for director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents). The comedy stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as rival politicians vying to represent a small North Carolina district. Cox will star as Galifianakis’s distant father who is also a former senator. Hit the jump for more on both projects.

Channing Tatum is on board to reprise the role of Duke in G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, and prior reports suggest Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow) and Ray Park (Snake Eyes) may also return. Otherwise, Paramount is looking to a new cast to liven up the sequel. The big get is Dwayne Johnson. The man has revealed a penchant for joining film series midstream with Fast Five and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. G.I. Joe will make it a trend if/when Johnson officially commits to playing Roadblock. Elodie Yung signed on earlier this month to add more fresh blood as Jinx. Tonight, Heat Vision adds two more names: RZA and D.J. Cotrona.
Cotrona is in talks to play Flint, identified in the original series by his shotgun and beret. RZA will play the Blind Master, a martial arts expert who once trained Snake Eyes and Jinx in martial arts. The Wu-Tang Clan leader is carving out a nice second career as an actor. Mostly comic work so far, but you can’t keep RZA away from filmic martial arts for too long (and who would want to?). His next project — as writer, director, and star — is The Man with the Iron Fists, somehow starring Russell Crowe.
Directed by Jon Chu ( G.I. Joe 2 is scheduled for release on August 10, 2012.

Mama said there’d be days like this at a film festival. Days where you go to the movies multiple times but nothing really explodes off the screen. The three movies I caught on Saturday were all entertaining in their own way. Some even had audiences grooving to the sweet beats of the city or the sweet beatdowns of Shanghai. None of them, though, stood out from the crowd the way films on day one and day two did. But, in true Fantastic Fest 2010 fashion, day three had a you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it cherry on top that made it all worth while. Hit the jump to see a video of that moment and also read about Johannes Stärne Nilsson and Ola Simonsson’s Sound of Noise, Wai-keung Lau’s Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen and Amber Benson and Adam Busch’s Drones.

Russell Crowe has signed on to star opposite RZA in the kung fu film The Man with the Iron Fist. Speaking to E! Online, RZA (who co-wrote the script and will also direct) wouldn’t talk about Crowe’s role in the film other than to say, “Russell’s gonna be the baddest man alive. That man is in fighting shape. That man will knock you out.” RZA, who will play “a weapons-making village blacksmith in feudal China”, added “It’s nerve-wracking. [Crowe's] a master of the craft. I’m quite sure that I may learn something from him.” Filming is set to begin in December in Shanghai. Eli Roth is a co-producer and co-writer on the movie.
RZA and Crowe previously worked together in Ridley Scott’s American Gangster and even recorded a song together, but the film’s producers decided not to use it on the soundtrack. The two are also co-starring in Paul Haggis’ thriller The Next Three Days, which opens on November 19th.

Universal has released seven movie clips from their upcoming futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. Starring Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten, the film takes place in a future where you can buy replacement organs from a company called The Union. But if you can’t pay your bill, the company sends Repo Men and they’ll take back your organ without any thought to what happens to you.
As most of you know, Repo Men was supposed to be released awhile back, but for whatever reason, it got bumped. Usually when that happens, it’s a cause for concern. But I have to say, after watching the clips, I’m a lot more interested in the film as it looks pretty cool. Hit the jump to check them out for yourself. Repo Men arrives in theaters March 19.

Universal has just sent over 27 high res images and 5 posters from their futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. The film stars Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten. Here’s the one liner:
A repo man, made up of artificial organs, receives a heart transplant and, when he struggles to make the payments, must go on the run from his former partner.
We’ll have a lot more on this film as the press junket was in New York City today and a new Collider writer was there. Until then, hit the jump for the images and posters:
