Constantin Film announced today that production is underway in Toronto on the romantic comedy Love, Rosie. Based on author Cecelia Ahern’s novel Where Rainbows End, the film stars Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror) and Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman) as best friends since school “who find that life often gets in the way of love but, true love just like true friendship, never dies.” Complications in their relationship ensue, causing the prospect of a romantic life together to be thrown into question. Christian Ditter is directing from a screenplay by Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls), and the cast also includes Jaime Winstone, Christian Cooke, Suki Waterhouse, Tamsin Egerton, Jamie Beamish, Ger Ryan and Lorcan Cranitch.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for director Francis Lawrence‘s (Water for Elephants) sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The darkness and melancholy of the first film has only intensified, but this trailer only tells half the story. We’re shown the victors’ tour, and how President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is trying to tear down the hope-inspiring image of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) before killing her. Only at the end of the trailer, do we hear about the second part of the story, which is the “Quarter Quell”, a special Hunger Games where past winners will be forced to fight to the death. I assume they left this out because it’s the more effects-heavy part of the story, and that footage is moving through post-production.
The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.
The first trailer for director Francis Lawrence’s (I Am Legend) highly anticipated sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to debut during the MTV Movie Awards later this month, and now a promo for the event has been released online that gives us our first look at footage from the film. The video teases a look at the “Victory Tour” that Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta embark on at the beginning of Catching Fire as part of their duties as Hunger Games victors. Liam Hemsworth will introduce the two-and-a-half minutes of footage during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14th at 9pm ET/PT, so check back here on Collider at that time to watch the full trailer.

An abundance of handsomeness could be in store for director Lone Scherfig’s (An Education) adaptation of Laura Wade‘s stage play Posh. The Daily Mail reports that Robert Pattinson, Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Douglas Booth (Noah), and Max Irons (The Host) are all in various stages of negotiations to star in the film. The story centers on a fictional Oxford fraternity called The Riot Club and focuses on two new freshman inductees getting an overview of the club during one night. The entirety of the story takes place in a private dining room, so it’ll be interesting to see how Scherfig translates the play to the screen.
Irons would take on the lead role in the film, but details regarding the other actors’ parts are unknown. No one has officially signed on yet, and Pattinson is expected to mull over the script once he wraps The Rover. As one can imagine, matching up the schedules of four up-and-comers is a bit of a logistical nightmare, so don’t set this cast lineup in stone just yet.

Though they each starred in separate Snow White movies last year, Sam Clafin and Lily Collins are set to team up onscreen for an upcoming adaptation of the Cecelia Ahern novel Where Rainbows End. Variety reports that Claflin and Collins will front Love, Rosie, which will be directed by Christian Ditter (The Crocodiles). The screenplay adaptation was penned by Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) and centers on a young girl whose plans to attend college in the U.S. with her best friend (Claflin) are thrown into question when she becomes pregnant after a night out with the most popular boy in school.
The story takes place over the course of 12 years as the friends maintain their connection, and production is set to get underway in May. Hit the jump for more, including casting news concerning Queen of the Night.
Lionsgate has released a new teaser poster and some high-resolution images for the highly anticipated upcoming sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The first images from the film were recently released, giving us a look at Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, and Liam Hemsworth, as well as new cast additions Sam Claflin and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is still 11 months away, but there’s not a moment to lose when it comes to the marketing. The cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin as Katniss and Finnick. We’ve seen the new bodysuit uniforms in leaked set photos, and they look good in this official image. As for Claflin, I can definitely see him as Finnick now that they’ve dyed the actor’s hair blonde. As for his performance, we’ll have to wait and see.

The dress code in The Hunger Games was casual, although comfortable clothing was recommended. New images have surfaced from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and now the tributes have some skin-tight swimwear. The suits probably serve the dual purpose of not only being costumes, but also to prevent the actors from getting hypothermia. The new images not only show off Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), but new tributes Mags (Lynn Cohen) and Finnick (Sam Claflin).

Casting is currently underway on Sony’s fast-moving sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it appears that producers are changing course in filling the integral role of Harry Osborn. Marc Webb is returning to direct with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone back as the film’s leads, but the follow-up is poised to include a tantalizing group of newcomers that should ring familiar to fans of the comics. Shailene Woodley is set to play eventual love interest Mary Jane in what may amount to a larger role in the third film, and negotiations are underway to nail down Jamie Foxx as the film’s villain Electro.
We recently heard that Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) and Brady Corbet (Melancholia) were under consideration for the role of Harry Obsorn, but now it appears that Sony is looking for a different type of actor to take on the part. Hit the jump for more.

Hammer Films, the studio behind this year’s horror hit The Woman in Black, has released a sneak peek at their next foray into the genre: The Quiet Ones. The supernatural thriller is directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2) and stars Jared Harris (Mad Men) as an unorthodox professor “who uses controversial methods and leads his students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.” The story takes place in the 1970s and also stars Snow White and the Huntsman’s Sam Claflin, who was recently cast as Finnick in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
This sneak peek takes us behind the scenes of the film’s shoot, as various people involved with the film talk about the story, production, and setting. Hit the jump to take a look.
Arguably the highest-profile new role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is Finnick Odair. It’s a fun character who gets a lot of action and some meaty drama. Today, Lionsgate has announced that the role has gone to Snow White and the Huntsman star Sam Claflin. Claflin was rumored for the role last month, and I’m not sure how I feel about the choice. He got his start in The Pillars of the Earth, which I haven’t seen, and I haven’t found him all that memorable in Snow White and the Huntsman or his other big film, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. However, those blockbusters aren’t very good, and he didn’t have much to do in either. Finnick will presumably be a much larger role, so I’m eager to see what he does with the part.
Claflin joins newcomers Tony Shalhoub, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, and Meta Golding along with returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson. Hit the jump for the press release. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013.
