Tuesday night was the world premiere of Platinum Dunes/Warner Bros. remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The premiere was held at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood, and as you might have noticed with the amount of interviews I’ve been posting, I was on the red carpet. So rather than flood the entire front page with interviews, I’ve grouped the last four into this one article. If you hit the jump, you can check out Director Samuel Bayer, Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner and Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form talk about being at the premiere and answering a ton of questions.

As most of you know, opening this Friday is New Line/Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Over the past few months we’ve been covering the movie extensively with a set report, on set interviews with Jackie Earle Haley and producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, and a few weeks ago I spoke to Katie Cassidy / Thomas Dekker and Rooney Mara / Kyle Gallner at WonderCon.
Anyway, yesterday was the Los Angeles press day for the film and I got to speak with director Samuel Bayer, producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, and I also got to speak with Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara & Kyle Gallner in a junket setting. Since I spoke to them a few weeks ago, I used the time to try and ask new questions. Also, I’ve now seen the film, so I could ask more specific things. Hit the jump to check it out. I’ve time indexed the interview so you can watch what interests you:

Samuel Bayer has a long history directing music videos and commercials. While his resume is way too long to list in this intro, some of his famous videos are Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Blind Melon’s No Rain, almost all of Green Day’s American Idiot videos, and tons of others since 1991. It’s really an impressive list.
Anyway, he finally made his first feature and it’s New Line’s/Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The movie stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker and Kellan Lutz.
To help promote the film, I sat down with Bayer earlier today to talk about his experiences directing the movie, what will be on the Blu-ray/DVD, how does he feel about directors cuts, what will he do next, and a lot more. As always, I’ve time indexed the interview so you can watch the parts you want. Hit the jump to check it out:

All these years, Funny or Die co-creator Adam McKay has always chosen “funny”: the standouts among his directing resume include a trilogy of Will Ferrell vehicles–Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers–as well as the forthcoming cop comedy The Other Guys (also starring Ferrell, alongside Mark Wahlberg). Film School Rejects tapped a trusted source, Nightmare on Elm Street director Samuel Bayer (wait, what?), and found out that McKay’s next project may skew more toward “death”.
You see, Bayer had (and in fact still has) his eyes on adapting The Boys, the Garth Ennis comic series which follows a black-ops team (“The Boys”, natch) that keep superheroes in line via intimidation and, if necessary, murder. Bayer lamented that such lust may be a lost cause, as it sounds like McKay is the lead candidate for the prime gig. More after the jump:

With New Line Cinema’s A Nightmare on Elm Street getting released this weekend, we’ve been given 5 movie clips and 3 TV spots from the film. If you’re trying to avoid spoilers, you probably shouldn’t watch these clips…but if you’d like a taste of what director Samuel Bayer has planned, hit the jump. A Nightmare on Elm Street stars Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children, Watchmen) as Freddy Krueger, Rooney Mara (Urban Legend: Bloody Mary) as Nancy, Kyle Gallner (The Haunting in Connecticut) as Quentin, Katie Cassidy (Taken, Supernatural & Melrose Place) as Kris, Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Jesse, and Kellan Lutz (Twilight) as Dean. Look for some exclusive interviews with the cast soon:

Warner Bros. has released the full press kit for director Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake that stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. While some of the images have already been released, you’ll find a ton of new ones after the jump. Also, if you’d like to know more about the movie, I’ve posted the official production notes that WB sent over.
Finally, the movie is doing its press junket this weekend here in Los Angeles, so expect a ton of clips and news on Nightmare this weekend and early next week. Until then, take a look at the images:

Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters on April 30th, and the various trailers that are floating around look pretty creepy, but this first clip from the film looks awesome. It’s Freddy Krueger, played by the brilliant Jackie Earle Haley, stalking Nancy Thompson (Rooney Mara) in a grocery store while “All I Have to Do Is Dream” plays in the background. It’s exactly what you’d expect, but the scene gives you a good look at the new Freddy, whose face is a lot more grotesque this time around.

A few days ago I attended WonderCon (it’s like Comic-Con with less people) in San Francisco and got to interview Thomas Dekker and Katie Cassidy for A Nightmare on Elm Street. In the film, Thomas Dekker plays Jesse and Katie Cassidy plays Kris.
During the interview they talked about what it was like filming in Chicago and tell some funny stories, working for director Samuel Bayer, have they seen the movie yet, and a lot more. Unlike some red carpet interviews that are serious, this one is very loose and extremely relaxed. Watch it after the jump:

A new poster for A Nightmare on Elm Street has been released. Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Kellan Lutz, Thomas Dekker, and Clancy Brown, the New Line movie gets released April 30, which is why you’ve seen an abundance of Nightmare related coverage all around the net this week. Perhaps you saw my Set Report, or my on set interviews with Jackie Earle Haley and Producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller.
On top of the new poster, a new trailer is getting released Thursday morning at 12:01am pst. Needless to say, we’ll be posting it as soon as it’s online. Hit the jump to check out the new poster:

If you’ve been reading Collider for awhile, you know last June I got to visit the set of director Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street while the production was filming in Chicago. I was invited – along with a few other online journalists – to watch a night of filming and also participate in roundtables interviews with Jackie Earle Haley, and producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. With the film getting released on April 30, Warner Bros. has released us from our embargo, and I can now post my complete set report.
Since I always like to give options, I’m providing two ways to get the info. The first is by reading about it…and the other is by watching a video blog I did with Peter from Slashfilm. Since Peter went on a different day, we have different takes on what it was like to go to set. Hit the jump for more:

When A Nightmare on Elm Street was filming last June in Chicago, I was invited – along with a few other online journalists – to watch filming one night and also interview some of the cast. While I’ve conducted many interviews while working for Collider, I’ll admit the interview with Jackie Earle Haley was definitely memorable. That’s because Haley did the interview while in full Freddy makeup! And on top of that, I was sitting directly to his right, so when he was answering other people’s questions, I was starring right at his head and blown away by the level of detail. Trust me, when you see a close-up of Freddy in the movie, you’re going to think you’re looking at a burn victim.
While the interview was conducted late at night and even though the make-up was difficult on Haley, he couldn’t have been nicer. He talked to us about the challenges of acting under the make-up, does he have empathy for Freddy, working on the finding the voice, was he nervous to sign on for multiple films, going from Watchmen’s Rorschach to this, and so much more. It’s a great interview, and you can either read or listen to it after the jump:

While you might not know producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller by name, you’ve definitely seen their work. As two of the three owners of Platinum Dunes (along with Michael Bay), they’ve produced The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher, The Amityville Horror, The Unborn, Friday the 13th (2009), and for the last year, they’ve been hard at work bringing Freddy back to life in New Line’s reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Back when the production was filming in Chicago last June, I was invited to the set – along with a few other online journalists. While there I was able to participate in a very extended interview with the two producers. During the interview, they talked about why they wanted director Samuel Bayer, how hard was it to land the Freddy franchise, why did they want to reboot it, why Jack Earle Haley, and so much more. If you’re curious what goes on behind the scenes when trying to make a movie, it’s a fantastic read.

Sometimes all it takes is an email from Michael Bay.
While director Samuel Bayer had been pursued by Platinum Dunes for a few of their movies, it was an email from Michael Bay that finally got him to direct his first feature for the company and it’s the remake/reboot of the classic “A Nightmare on Elm Street”.
If you’re a fan of Freddy Krueger and have been awaiting his return to movie theaters, after the jump you can watch Samuel Bayer talk about what you can expect from his movie, what he showed the Comic-Con audience, what making his first feature has been like, and a lot more. It’s a great interview so take a look:

Jackie Earle Haley just might be the nicest guy at Comic Con. The man best known for playing crazy (his spot on portrayal of the unstable vigilante Rorschach in Watchmen won rave reviews from critics and fan boys alike) sauntered into the room like we were all old buddies. He sat down with a great humor and genuine enthusiasm to talk about his take on another iconic pop culture icon… Freddy Krueger. “Wearing the outfit is surreal and very motivating,” remarked Haley with a reverent smile, “It’s a scary process to fill Robert Englund’s shoes. His performance is what makes Freddy. The challenge is going back in time and paying homage while rebooting. It’s a real kick to play such a mythical boogie man!”
Joined by director Samuel Bayer and producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, Jackie gave us the low down on their new, darker take on Elm Street. All the razor fingered details are after the jump.

Everyone’s laughing. All the journalists invited to the Chicago set of Platinum Dunes “Nightmare on Elm Street” are having a good time. We’re all chatting with producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller when the room goes silent. To our right, we see Jackie Earle Haley in full Freddy make-up walking in to film a scene. He looks like a burn victim and it’s really a sight to behold.
A little over a month ago I attended the set visit for Platinum Dunes’ remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and after the jump you can read a short preview and also watch a preview video blog that I did with Peter from /Film. Take a look:
