While at the 37^th annual Saturn Awards, we got the chance to speak with Sam Witwer (Being Human), Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1), Kurtwood Smith (Robocop) and Vanessa Marano (Switched at Birth). The actors talked about their projects past and present, with Witwer speaking about the filming experience of Crank and Judge giving his reaction to X-Men: First Class.

He spoke about X-Men: First Class, possible sequels, The Wolverine, Deadpool, Ant Man, Marvel’s strategy for introducing comic book characters that may be unfamiliar to mainstream audiences, teased a bit about the studio’s presence at Comic-Con this year, and more.

We had the opportunity to speak with actor Doug Jones at the 37^th annual Saturn Awards. A mainstay in director Guillermo del Toro’s films, Jones is best known for his work playing non-human characters, usually in heavy makeup. He took on, with great success, the character of Abe Sapien in the Hellboy films and was poisitively terrifying as the Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth. During the interview, he spoke a bit about a third Hellboy film, his relationship with del Toro, and more.

As the 37^th annual Saturn Awards came to a close, I was lucky enough to snag a few minutes with The Punisher (2004) and Hung star Thomas Jane.

Always a blunt and shoot from the hip interview, Jane was especially candid this night, talking in detail about why he was fired from Walter Hill and Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming Headshot, his burgeoning music career, his upcoming Glen Sherley biopic, his comic company Raw Studios, a western that he’s written, a werewolf movie called The Lycan, and much, much more.  Hit the jump to check it out.

This is how Academy Award-winner Frank Darabont describes his Saturn Award winning cable series, The Walking Dead, which will enter its’ sophomore season this fall on AMC.

Darabont and producer Gale Anne Hurd were on hand at the 37^th annual Saturn Awards Thursday night and after accepting their award for Best Television Presentation, the duo gave us a few minutes of their time to discuss the show’s second season, including details on Michonne, which Darabont says is coming in the third season.  We also discuss films from the whole of Darabont’s career, debunk Nikki Finki’s rumor mill, get an peek into how killing a seven-year old became a mission statement for the show and more.  Hit the jump for 10 key quotes and the full audio interview.

Exclusive: Vince Gilligan Talks BREAKING BAD Season 4 and 5 at the 2011 Saturn Awards

Collider attended the 37^th annual Saturn Awards last night, and while at the ceremony we got the chance to interview Breaking Bad creator/showrunner Vince Gilligan.  He spoke at length about one of the best shows on television, talking about his approach to the upcoming season, what characters will be getting more screen time, guest directors for season four, why they’re trying to get Werner Herzog to direct an episode, plotting the end of the series (Gilligan sees season five as possibly the final season), and much, much more.  Here’s a choice quote:

“I would like to see Breaking Bad go—it kinda changes if you ask me last season or the season before versus this one, but right now I would say season five should probably be our last season. But you know, check with me a year from now, we’ll see if I change my tune.”

Exclusive: Rick Baker and Dave Elsey Talk Makeup Effects at the 2011 Saturn Awards

While on the red carpet for the 37^th annual Saturn Awards, we got the chance to speak with legendary makeup artist Rick Baker as well as Oscar winning makeup artist Dave Elsey. Baker was gracious enough to talk to us about his approach to makeup effects, how he became attached to monsters at a young age, his favorite creature that he’s designed thus far in his career, and he even spoke a little bit about Men in Black III, commenting on the production troubles the film has encountered. Additionally, Elsey talked about how he approaches makeup effects, and answered which is harder: applying makeup or having makeup applied on you.

While covering the red carpet for the 37^th annual Saturn Awards we were lucky enough to speak to Lance Reddick about the upcoming fourth season of Fringe.  Though he remained tightlipped on the specifics of the next season, Reddick gave us a few tidbits about his character arc subsequent to his doppelganger’s demise, the show’s move away from a monster-of-the-week format, what attracts him most to his character and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

Earlier tonight we got a chance to chat with producer Dean Devlin at the Saturn Awards where he was accepting the Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder’s Award.

Devlin and director Roland Emmerich have long discussed the possibility of a follow-up to Independence Day and tonight Devlin confirmed that there is a concept and at least a written treatment for not one but two sequels.  He also discussed a pair of sequels to Stargate as well as staying at The Shining mansion while filming season 4 of Leverage and his Godzilla remake from the 90′s.  Hit the jump for the video.

INCEPTION, LET ME IN, TRON, and THE WALKING DEAD Top the 2011 Saturn Award Nominations

If you’re among the folk who believe the Academy Awards are too stodgy, too reluctant to embrace sci-fi, fantasy, and horror — the Saturn Awards are for you.  Sure, Best Picture nominee Inception led the field with nominations, but Let Me In and Tron: Legacy (just one Oscar nomination between them) fall close behind with 7 Saturn nominations apiece. Hereafter, Alice in Wonderland, Black Swan, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Never Let Me Go, and Shutter Island all landed 5 or more nominations.

The Walking Dead racked up the most television nominations with 6, followed by Breaking Bad, Fringe, and Lost with 5 each.  Hit the jump for the full list of nominees and a breakdown of the number of nominations by film/series.

LOST Co-Creator Carlton Cuse and Writer Adam Horowitz Video Interview (2010 Saturn Awards)

For my final interview from this year’s Saturn Awards, I saved one for all you fans of Lost.  That’s because hanging out backstage after the show was Lost co-creator Carlton Cuse and co-executive producer and writer Adam Horowitz.  Even though they had been talking for awhile and I missed out on some of the interview, I did manage to ask if the big Lost DVD/Blu-ray box set arriving next month is really the final one and I also asked why wasn’t writer Bryan K. Vaughn involved in the final season.  It’s been a big mystery among the fans.  I also asked the question everyone has been wondering: is it too soon to ask Cuse and Damon Lindelof to do another TV show!

Finally, in case you weren’t aware, on the big DVD/Blu-ray box set is a 12 minute coda  to the series. BREAKING BAD Creator Vince Gilligan and Aaron Paul Exclusive Video Interview (2010 Saturn Awards)

One of the best shows on television is AMC’s Breaking Bad.  While I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz about the show that stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Bob Odenkirk, Betsy Brandt and RJ Mitte…let me say it again: Breaking Bad is truly amazing television and if you haven’t gotten the chance to watch it, buy the DVDs and catch up.  You will not be sorry.

Anyway, at this year’s Saturn Awards, I was able to speak with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and Aaron Paul and we talked about this past season and what the future holds.  The big news is while production usually begins in August, Gilligan reveals the show doesn’t start filming until January as AMC is moving the show to the summer.  What that means is…it’s going to be a long hiatus.  We also talked about how long the show might be on the air, does he know where next season is going, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to watch the interview:

Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez Interview 2010 Saturn Awards – Stars of CHUCK on Comic-Con, Next Season, TRON Posters, E3, More

If you’ve been reading Collider for any length of time, you know we’re all huge fans of NBC’s Chuck.  While getting any show on the air is hard, getting more than one season is even tougher.  That’s why I’m beyond excited that Chuck is coming back for a 4th season this fall.  And it’s not just because Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez say “Collider” 10 times during the interview you’re about to watch.  It’s because both Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez are awesome together on screen and they’re both extremely grounded and two of the nicest people I’ve ever had  the chance to interview.  Also, they both waited around at last week’s Saturn Awards until Guillermo Del Toro was done doing interviews so they could get their picture taken with him.  How many actors would have done that?

Anyway, during my backstage interview with Levi and Gomez, they talked about last season and the way things changed on the show.  They also talked about the upcoming season, Comic-Con, will they change the Tron poster in Chuck’s bedroom to a Tron: Legacy poster, how disappointed they are that GDT isn’t doing The Hobbit, what did they see and love about this year’s E3 (they’re both gamers), and a lot more.  If you’re a fan of Chuck, I promise you’ll love the interview.  Hit the jump to take a look:
