Mezco Toyz has provided the first look at their upcoming Scott Pilgrim figures based on the comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley.  Mezco will be releasing two figures. Btoh are 6″ tall and feature eight points of articulation.  One figure has Scott in a green t-shirt and comes with a closed mouth head.  The other figure wears a jacket 50/50 pack of the open mouth/closed mouth head.  The figures comes individually packaged and both figures come with a sword and a guitar (as every action figure should).

Brandon Routh and Satya Bhabha Video Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 13th, 2010 at 3:05 pm

With Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World now playing in theaters, it’s time to post my last on camera interview from the Los Angeles junket and it’s with Brandon Routh and Satya Bhabha.  In the film, Routh and Bhabha play two of the evil ex’s and they’re both perfectly cast in the film.

As I’ve said many times already, I absolutely loved director Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and think it’s a classic in every sense of the word.  While many of you might have the urge to go see The Expendables this weekend, I promise you Scott Pilgrim is a much better film.  Anyway, hit the jump to see Routh and Bhabha talk about being at Comic-Con, the Scott Pilgrim Experience, watching the movie with 1,200 fans, making t-shirts, and a lot more.

Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman Video Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 12th, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Opening tomorrow is writer/director Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.  As I’ve said many times, I think Scott Pilgrim is one of the best films of the year and a classic in every sense of the word.  As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve been posting tons of interviews with the cast.  Here’s some links: Mark Webber/Alison Pill, Brandon Routh/Satya Bhabha, Mary Elizabeth Winstead/Ellen Wong, director Edgar Wright and Kieran Culkin/Aubrey Plaza.

On top of the print interviews, we got to talk to almost everyone on camera. Since the interviews were done the day after Comic-Con, I spent most of the time talking about the awesome “Scott Pilgrim Experience” that Universal set up outside the convention and what was it like being there.  Also, during my interview with Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman, I asked them if they actually made any t-shirts for the fans, and I found out Schwartzman’s real coat was used as a model for Scott Pilgrims coat in the movie.  I’ll let Cera and Schwartzman explain after the jump:

Director Edgar Wright Exclusive Video Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 12th, 2010 at 2:21 pm

In an era where movie studios seem to be recycling the same ideas, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a breath of fresh air.  Based on the awesome graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim has been brilliantly brought to life by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Spaced) and it’s not only a showcase of what he can do as a writer/director, it completely breaks the mold of the way to tell a story on screen.  That’s because Wright has found a innovative way of telling the story and it involves fast editing and insanely quick transitions from scene to scene that feel like you’re inside a comic book.   I truly believe Scott Pilgrim is going to influence a generation of filmmakers as I’ve never seen anything like it.  I’m beyond impressed, and I strongly recommend buying a ticket this weekend.

Anyway, last week I got to sit down with Wright for an extended interview.  If you’re a fan of this great director or just really looking forward to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, I really think you’ll love the interview as we covered a wide range of subjects like the writing process,  how they came up with the awesome transitions and the editing in general, Comic-Con, Scott Pilgrim t-shirts, the premiere at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, deleted scenes and extended cuts, can he make a movie more than every three years, and we talk future projects but he says no progress has been made on Ant-Man or any other project since July 2008.  Hit the jump to check it out. As always, it’s been time indexed so you can watch the parts that interest you:

Video Blog: Reader Questions Answered #1

by     Posted: August 10th, 2010 at 10:14 pm

As you know by now, I regularly record video blogs with Peter from Slashfilm. This past weekend, we found ourselves at the New Orleans airport hours before our flight home, and decided it would be a perfect time to record a video blog.

However, we didn’t have a topic in mind, so we reached out to our twitter followers and asked for some ideas. After just a few submissions, Peter and I realized we would love to talk about a variety of these submitted topics, and changed the idea to a reader q & a. We told everyone that we’d answer every question submitted, however we were only able to cram 25 or 30 questions in before we had to board the plane. We even answered questions about Prop 8 and eating competitions. That’s enough, right?

Sadly, that video blog will never ever be seen by the public as Peter recorded it on his new iPhone 4 and somehow it failed to record the audio. As you might expect, it was very frustrating. But we moved on. So during our layover in Denver we decided to rerecord the Q&A using some of the same questions and we also mixed in a few new ones. Hit the jump to check it out and please leave your questions for potential future video blog Q&A’s in the comment section.

Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 8th, 2010 at 7:39 pm

Whether it’s in the pages of the Bryan Lee O’Malley comic book series or on screen in the Edgar Wright film, the ultimate boss battle for Scott Pilgrim is with Ramona Flowers’ seventh evil-ex Gideon Graves. There’s no doubt about it, Pilgrim vs. Graves is the main event of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and also for our series of roundtables.

When Michael Cera, who plays Scott Pilgrim, and Jason Schwartzman, who plays Gideon Graves, sit down at your table, there’s no doubt it’s going to be fun. Both are known for being hilarious comedic actors and in person, you get exactly that. Plus you get some insight into what makes the stars of such modern classics as Rushmore, Superbad, Juno and Fantastic Mr. Fox tick.

Hit the jump to read how Schwartzman thought he might ruin the movie, changing the education system, Cera’s most memorable fight, how success has affected him and more.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ellen Wong Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD; Plus Info on THE THING Prequel, DIE HARD 5, and the Alternate Ending

by     Posted: August 7th, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Without Ramona Flowers and Knives Chau, there would be no Scott Pilgrim. The two main ladies in Scott’s life, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ellen Wong respectively, are Scott’s raison d’etre in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Ramona is the spunky newcomer with whom Scott becomes so infatuated, he’s willing to fight her seven evil exes. Knives is a cute, innocent high schooler that Scott is dating at the beginning of the film and eventually helps him discover who he really is.

Wong and Winstead sat down to talk about their characters, working with Edgar Wright, Die Hard 5, The Thing prequel, the alternate ending and much more. You know you want to hit the jump to read all about it.

Aubrey Plaza and Kieran Culkin Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 5th, 2010 at 5:40 pm

With Scott Pilgrim’s incessant fighting and self-loathing, the only way he can function is with a little help from his friends. Friends such as gay roommate Wallace Wells, played by Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down), and the oh-so-angry Julie Powers, played by Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation). Okay, Julie might not technically be Scott’s friend but, according to Plaza, she might secretly love him. That’s just one of the details that was revealed when we sat down with these two tremendously talented actors to discuss their roles in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which hits theaters August 13.

This was one of those conversations where not a whole lot got done, but the joking and chemistry was totally worth the ride. Hit the jump to read about some rare moments of on set improv, Culkin’s long hours in bed with men, Plaza’s cursing habits and much more.

Brandon Routh and Satya Bhabha Interview SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

by     Posted: August 4th, 2010 at 10:52 pm

To win the love of Ramona Flowers, Scott Pilgrim must defeat her seven evil-exes. That’s not an easy task, especially when you consider one of them is Captain America and another was Superman. And while Chris Evans wasn’t able to make it out to promote Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (he’s busy shooting some movie) two of the other evil ex’s, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram and Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, did brave the fans at Comic-Con and the questions of at a long press junket.

Hit the jump to read what this pair had to discuss including Routh’s video game addiction, his thoughts on The Avengers coming to cinemas before a Justice League movie,  Bhabha’s grueling Bollywood scene and the possibility of a second Scott Pilgrim soundtrack. And don’t forget our interviews with Edgar Wright and Mark Webber/Alison Pill as well.

100 Pictures from Comic-Con 2010; Check Out the Convention Floor, Booth Babes, Toys, Movie Posters, Movie Props, and a Lot More!

by     Posted: July 25th, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Every year at Comic-Con, the convention floor is sensory overload.  You’ve got thousands of people walking around trying to take everything in. Some are trying to buy convention exclusives, others are trying to get autographs and meet celebrities, and the rest are there for a myriad of reasons.  Comic-Con has definitely become a melting pot of pop culture and if you’re into movies, TV, comic books, toys, anime, and almost anything that can be collected, it’s located in San Diego in late July.  While the show has grown bigger than the Convention Center can hold (which is why some events are now offsite at other hotels) it’s an amazing show and something you have to experience for yourself.

Since many of you have never been to Comic-Con, I decided to take a ton of photos of the Convention Floor and some of the cool things taking place outside on the street.  So if you’re into everything I mentioned above, you’re going to love the 100 pictures after the jump.
