Production is currently underway on M. Night Shyamalan’s new sci-fi project After Earth, and the director and star Will Smith have been sharing a few photos from the set with fans eager to see how Shyamalan will ruin yet another movie. The good news is that Shyamalan got help on the script from Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) and Stephen Gaghan (Traffic), so hopefully the story is being reigned in. Previously titled 1000 A.E., the film is set 1000 years in the future and centers on a young boy navigating “an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes.” Smith stars alongside his son Jaden Smith, who toplined the recent Karate Kid remake. The premise is interesting enough and the inclusion of Gaghan gives me hope that maybe After Earth will serve as a much-needed comeback for the Signs director.
The photos don’t show anyone in costume, but we do get a look at the Smiths and Shyamalan on the gorgeous Costa Rica set. Shyamalan reveals through comments on the photos that this is the first film he’s shooting digitally and he’s using the Sony F65. Hit the jump to check out the photos. The film also stars Zoe Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo, and Isabelle Fuhrman. After Earth opens June 7th, 2013.

The first images from the production of Lincoln caused a stir because Daniel Day-Lewis looks amazing in character as Abraham Lincoln. Among a new round of set photos, we have our first look at a mustachioed Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln, the eldest son of our 16th president. Not quite the same impact, but Gordon-Levitt looks sharp in period costue.
The shoot is on location in Old Towne Petersburg in Virginia to take advantage of the period architecture. Along with the Gordon-Levitt photo, there are a couple of pictures that pull back for a broader view of the set that give you a sense of the scope and detail of Steven Spielberg‘s production. Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, and Jared Harris also star. Lincoln is expected to hit theaters in late 2012. Hit the jump for the photos.

This article highlights both extremes on the spectrum of set photos, using two movie starring Amy Adams as examples. On one hand, you’ve got the blurry candids of Henry Cavill as Superman and Michael Shannon as General Zod on the set of Superman: Man of Steel. Not especially revealing, but Superman! Zod!
On the other hand, we have gorgeous black-and-white photographs taken on the set of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s religious cult picture The Master. No stars or supervillains, but arguably more insightful into the process as a look at the period detail on the 1950s-era costumes and sets. Hit the jump to see the images plus background on both films.

With The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opening in less than a month, soon we’ll be turning our attention to Daniel Craig’s next project, Skyfall, aka James Bond 23. While we don’t much to show you other than Craig looking a little haggard but dapper as always, you can be sure that more set photos will pop up between now and the film’s November 9th release. Filming in London’s Trafalgar Square this past weekend, Craig was willing to provide as much information on the film as these pictures show (that is to say, next to nothing), but director Sam Mendes (Away We Go) was a little more candid. News has been quiet lately for director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, but these recent pictures prove the production is still swinging along. The (500) Days of Summer-director might be pushing his star Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) a little too hard, as the actor was seen stemming a nosebleed on set the other day. It might be part of Peter Parker’s nerdy persona to have a tissue stuffed up his nose, or perhaps it was a hazard of Garfield’s stunt work earlier in the day. The star was seen in an all-red bodysuit and sunglasses descending on a zip line; his stunt double finished the shoot by jumping over the hood of a car. The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Rhys Ifans (Anonymous) was also seen on set sporting a slimy looking hand. Hit the jump to see the photos.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises is currently in the middle of a location shoot in New York City (hence all the recent set photos), and today we’ve got a large batch of images and a few videos showcasing a fight between Christian Bale’s Batman and Tom Hardy’s Bane as well as some other goings-on that I won’t discuss here, given that it’s most likely pretty spoilery material. If you’re so inclined, hit the jump to check out the set photos and videos.
The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.

Recently we brought you the FilmNation announcement of Terrence Malick’s film, Lawless, starring Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Since Christian Bale was recently seen shooting with Malick in Austin, we thought we’d bring you some images of the other stars. The Bale photos show the star decked out in all black and the method actor seems to be in character. The Gosling pics seem to just show the young star milling about, but anything from a Malick set is worth checking out. Hit the jump to see the photos.

Production on The Dark Knight Rises has now moved onto New York City for two weeks of location filming, which means you can expect quite a few set photos to surface. Such is the case today, as we’ve got some images featuring Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on set, as well as Bale hanging out in Trump Tower pretending it’s Wayne Enterprises (silly Bale, always getting his buildings mixed up), and a host of Wayne’s flashy car. The images don’t spoil anything from the film, so feel free to peruse if you’re so inclined.
Hit the jump to check out the set photos. The film also stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012. [Update: More set photos have surfaced giving us a look at both Gordon-Levitt and Bale in full costume. They're included after the jump.]

Hot on the heels of images from the set of The Dark Knight Rises, a new set photo and a couple of videos have surfaced for R.I.P.D. The Robert Schwetnke-directed pic stars Ryan Reynolds as a newly deceased cop who joins a group of undead officers in the “Rest In Peace Department”. Jeff Bridges stars as an R.I.P.D. veteran, and Kevin Bacon is onboard as the villain. Production is currently underway in Boston, and a potentially spoilery set photo and a couple of car chase videos have surfaced.
Hit the jump to see the photo and videos. The film also stars Mary Louise-Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Marissa Miller, and James Hong. R.I.P.D. opens on June 28th, 2013.

Some new images from the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises have surfaced. They’re nothing mind-blowing, as it’s just a couple of images of Gary Oldman all gussied up as James Gordon and another image of Batman on the Batpod. The Oldman pics are simply of him walking to set, so we don’t really have an idea of what type of scene he’s filming.
Hit the jump to check out the images, if you’re so inclined. The film also stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.

Some new set photos have surfaced for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. They’re not as revealing/exciting as the ones of Russell Crowe in his Jor-El costume that we reported on yesterday, but they do feature Henry Cavill doing his best hobo impression. Cavill is seen sporting a dirty beard in character as Clark Kent. It’s rainy, he’s wearing a jacket that would invoke sad Don Draper, and he’s interacting with a scraggly (but still cute) dog, so one can assume that Kent/Superman falls on some hard times during the course of the film.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, and Christopher Meloni. Man of Steel opens June 14th, 2013.

The first images of Russell Crowe all gussied up in his costume as Jor-El from Man of Steel have surfaced online. We don’t see him interacting with any other actors on set, but we do see Superman’s dad smoking a cigarette while wearing alien clothes. The costume actually looks pretty cool. He’s got an otherworldly-looking “S” on the front, and a super awesome cape. Crowe plays Superman’s biological father in Zack Snyder’s reboot, which has Henry Cavill set as the Man of Steel himself. Julia Ormond was originally set to play Superman’s biological mother Lara Lor-Von opposite Crowe, but she was recently replaced with Ayelet Zurer.

The Snow White war is in full swing, with Universal and Relativity’s respective takes on the classic fairy tale currently in production barreling towards 2012 release dates, and today we’ve got set photos from the former. Some images have hit the web featuring Kristen Stewart in her nifty armor filming scenes for Snow White and the Huntsman. Stewart’s wardrobe looks identical to that which was unveiled with the first official images from the film, and is in keeping with the gritty, epic, and dark tone that director Rupert Sanders is striving for with his take on the material.
Hit the jump to see the images. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin, Noah Huntley, Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan and Steven Graham. Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1st, 2012.

Because of how the internet works, more people will see the images we just posted of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman on the set of The Dark Knight Rises. I myself am partial to these photos from the London set World War Z—in part because of the better quality of the images, but also because of explosions. Brad Pitt stars as a United Nations employee “who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.” Here, Pitt is seen running away from zombies through the fiery streets of London—you know, Day 4 of U.N. training.
Anthony Mackie, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, and Bryan Cranston star in the adaptation of Max Brooks’ zombie novel. Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) directed the December 21, 2012 release. Look for the set photos after the jump.
