Creator/Executive Producer Kurt Sutter and Cast Talk SONS OF ANARCHY Season 5 and Possible Prequel Series

The intense, gripping drama series Sons of Anarchy has become the most-watched series for FX and has developed a devoted fan base rivaled by few other TV shows currently on the air. So, it was no surprise that it was honored at the 29th Annual William S. Paley Television Festival, saluting excellence in programming.

During the March 7th panel, a few hints were given about story direction and character development for Season 5 (the most notable of which was that it will pick up about a month after where Season 4 left off), which starts shooting in May with a September premiere date, and an update was given about a possible prequel series. SONS OF ANARCHY Renewed through Season Six; Showrunner Kurt Sutter Inks Three-Year Deal

It’s no surprise when a network renews its highest rated show. For FX, that show happens to be fan-favorite Sons of Anarchy, a crime drama that follows members of the SAMCRO motorcycle club and their exploits in the quaint town of Charming, California. The series was renewed for a fifth season back in October, but fans will be happy to hear that the show has been renewed for a sixth season as well. In addition, creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter has signed a three-year overall deal with Twentieth Century Fox TV and FX Productions that will carry him through the seventh, and likely final, season. News keeps pouring out of the Television Critics Association, but now sights can be set on another big event for TV fans with PaleyFest 2012 announcing this year’s panels with some of the biggest shows of the season. Community (which is apparently not cancelled yet) will make an appearance and new shows like American Horror Story and New Girl will debut at the festival alongside fan favorites like Mad Men and Modern Family. Kurt Sutter Talks Season Four of SONS OF ANARCHY; Says He Hopes to Have Seven Seasons to Tell His Story

After its highest-rated season ever, Sons of Anarchy closed Season 4 in a way that clearly paves the way for an already highly anticipated Season 5. By the end of the season finale, everything was shaken up and everyone’s future was uncertain, which should make for very interesting storytelling when the series returns in September 2012.

With the season over, show creator Kurt Sutter took some time to reflect on the events that occurred and how they’ll affect things, going forward. During this recent interview, he talked about the rise in ratings, the influence that fans have on the show, where he sees things heading with everybody’s favorite characters, what he sees for his own character, Otto, and how he’s hoping to have seven seasons to tell this story, but that he’d be open to more. On the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, actor Ray McKinnon has been a memorable addition to Season 4, as Assistant U.S. District Attorney Lincoln Potter. His eccentric and off-beat approach to taking down SAMCRO, that at times has resembled a human chess game, has turned a few heads in town, including Charming’s newest lawman, Sheriff Eli Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar).

With this season coming to a close, Collider got the opportunity to speak with Ray McKinnon for this exclusive interview about how he’s both grateful and baffled that show creator Kurt Sutter asked him to join the show, his fear that his take on the character wouldn’t be well-received, how lucky he feels to have been a part of such great storytelling, and that he feels Lincoln’s storyline was pretty well wrapped up, by the end of the season. He also talked about the pilot that he’s developing for the Sundance Channel, about a man who is released from death row after nearly two decades, due to some conflicting DNA evidence. David Labrava SONS OF ANARCHY Interview

On the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, David Labrava stars as the ultra-intense, fully-patched SAMCRO member, Happy, the club’s assassin. In addition to his debut acting role on the show, Labrava also co-wrote Episode 10, called “Hands,” for this season, along with Chris Collins and show creator Kurt Sutter.

During a recent interview to promote Season 4 and his work on the series, David Labrava talked about how he went from technical advisor to cast member, the difference in the process for writing for television as opposed to film, that he got his first Harley Davidson when he was 17 years old, how he gets recognized by fans at least once a day, and that show creator Kurt Sutter is his writing mentor. Rockmond Dunbar Talks SONS OF ANARCHY and PASTOR BROWN

On the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, actor Rockmond Dunbar (Terriers, Prison Break, Soul Food) stars as Charming’s new lawman, Eli Roosevelt, a no-nonsense member of the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department, he takes his job seriously and doesn’t like to be manipulated. Recruited into Assistant U.S. Attorney Lincoln Potter’s (Ray McKinnon) task force to help bring down the Sons’ gun-running operation, he quickly realizes that he is also just a pawn in a larger scheme.

During a recent interview to promote his role on Season 4 of the popular show, Rockmond Dunbar talked about how recent events will effect his character’s actions, that Eli comes from a lineage of police officers, that his character was originally supposed to die after 10 episodes, how much he loves working with Peter Weller as a director, and that he has family members that were in the first black Harley motorcycle gang, The East Bay Dragons. Michael Marisi Ornstein SONS OF ANARCHY Interview

On the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, actor Michael Marisi Ornstein stars as Chucky, a man who clearly knows how to make a mean bowl of chili. An associate of SAMCRO, Chucky handles basic tasks at Teller-Morrow Automotive Repair shop and helps out around the clubhouse. Throughout the seasons, he’s proven to be a good, loyal and useful friend.

During a recent interview to talk about Season 4, Michael Marisi Ornstein talked about how much he’s enjoyed shooting every single episode, what he loves about playing people who are complicated, how one episode in season one has turned into a much-loved character on the series, how fans are surprised that he actually has fingers when they meet him, the he enjoys using various mediums to communicate a story or emotion, and how he’d like to do a multi-media tour with his artwork. Fourth Season of SONS OF ANARCHY Gets One Extra Episode

Just last month FX announced their order for a fifth season of the hit drama Sons of Anarchy with the fourth season currently airing and set for conclusion at the end of this month. However, today FX has announced that they are giving just one extra episode to the current fourth season with the finale no set to air on Tuesday, December 6th at 10/9c. Executive Vice President of Original Programming Nick Grad announced, ” [Series Creator Kurt Sutter] asked us to consider adding an extra episode to fully close this current chapter of the Sons saga. By adding the extra episode, it wraps up a magnificent season in extraordinary fashion. This is a real bonus for fans of the series.” Even though it’s just one more episode, no doubt fans of the series will be happy to have even more Sons of Anarchy this season, especially if it allows for a more satisfying conclusion and lead-in to the next season. Emilio Rivera Talks SONS OF ANARCHY, a Guest Spot on THE MENTALIST, and Feature Projects

On the FX drama Sons of Anarchy, Emilio Rivera stars as Marcus Alvarez, the Founder of the Mayan Motorcycle Club, and the President of its Oakland Charter. This season, the Mayans and the Sons are getting tighter than ever, running drugs for a Mexican Cartel and having to rely on each other to survive by battling common enemies.

During a recent interview to talk about Season 4 of the popular series, actor Emilio Rivera talked about his surprise with the direction his character is taking, that he hopes his character will get to stay alive for awhile longer, how things will get crazier and crazier throughout the rest of the season, that the show is one of the best things he’s ever done in his life, and that he recently did an episode of The Mentalist and has a number of films coming out. Without question, the FX series Sons of Anarchy is one of the strongest dramas currently on television, thanks to the incredibly talented ensemble of actors and always surprising storytelling. Throughout Season 4, viewers are getting to learn more about the personal history and relationships of many of the SAMCRO members that they’ve only gotten to catch glimpses of, up until now. One such character is Philip Russell, aka Filthy Phil (Christopher Reed), one of the club prospects who is getting to showcase his personality and loyalty, in a way that makes it easy to understand why SAMCRO would want him around.

During a recent interview to promote his work on the popular series, actor Christopher Reed talked about what this role has done for his confidence as an actor, how his life has changed since working on the show, how generous and kind the cast has been to him, and that he hopes to continue growing in his work. FX Orders Fifth Season of SONS OF ANARCHY

FX just revealed two more series on their development slate for next season, but that doesn’t mean the cable network is bringing any of their current running series to an end soon. A press release from the network just announced an order for a fifth season consisting of 13 episodes for Sons of Anarchy starring Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal. The order comes as the series’ fourth season still has seven episodes left to air, but since the show has stayed consistent in the ratings, FX has confidence that fans need and want more.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

Winter Ave Zoli and Kristen Renton Interview SONS OF ANARCHY

On Season 4 of the popular FX drama Sons of Anarchy, not only are viewers getting to learn more about the personal history and relationships of many of the SAMCRO members, but they’re also getting to know their women, or “old ladies.” One such “old lady” is Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli), the porn star married to club member Opie (Ryan Hurst). But, Lyla’s job definitely causes tension in her relationship and, when Opie finds out that she’s been keeping secrets from him, he turns to Ima (Kristen Renton), a fellow porn star who’s always looking for trouble.

During a recent interview to promote the show’s current season, co-stars Winter Ave Zoli and Kristen Renton talked about how they like the way Season 4 is dealing with the characters on a more personal level, that they love the juicy material they’re given, finding ways to relate to playing a porn star, and how working with such a great cast has really allowed them to grow as actors. On Season 4 of the popular FX drama Sons of Anarchy, viewers are getting to learn more about the personal history and relationships of many of the SAMCRO members that they’ve only gotten to catch glimpses of, up until now. Once such character is Juan Carlos Ortiz, otherwise known as Juice, who has been a fan favorite since the series debuted. As things heat up and loyalties are called into question, Juice will be more in the line of fire than ever.

During a recent interview to promote the series and talk about the evolution of his character, actor Theo Rossi hinted at what’s ahead for Juice, how pleased he was to learn about the direction things would be headed in this season, that Juice isn’t the typical biker but that doesn’t make him any less loyal to the club, and that what he’s learned from his co-stars is invaluable to him, both personally and professionally.
