It’s been a couple of weeks since the release of Star Wars on Blu-ray, and we’ve all said our share of “NOOOOOO”s over the whole “NOOOOOO!!!” unpleasantness. Once again, fans lamented the further erosion of their beloved franchise thanks to an owner/creator who now seems to view it all less as a cinematic classic and more as an extended game of chicken between him and the audience. The nine-disc Blu-ray set continues that grand tradition… and once again, after swearing that they would stand firm, the fan base caved. The set appeared to record sales, and complaints about the new changes were quickly drowned out by the sound of cash registers.

With that in mind, the question now becomes whether the fans have bought a bill of goods: whether the Blu-ray set delivers nothing but another box to sit on the shelf and gnaw at the souls of true believers. I’m happy to report that – unwelcome tweaks notwithstanding – Lucasfilm delivers a magnificent set that does justice to the iconic saga. Hit the jump for the full review.

Overview
The set contains nine discs in a handsome case: one for each of the six films, plus three discs containing a staggering array of additional features. Presumably everyone is familiar with the movies themselves, so we’ll focus more on the discs than the narrative they contain. We’ll break each disc down individually, covering the good, the bad and the in-between of each one.

Disc 1: The Phantom Menace
The set presents the films in narrative ...

Star Wars: The Complete Saga hit stores last week, and Collider has a copy of the 9-disc Blu-ray set to giveaway to one lucky reader. The set includes all six films in the Star Wars saga, along with loads and loads of extras. While some of you may wary of the set given that George Lucas has unsurprisingly made a few tweaks to his films, at the end of the day it’s Star Wars on Blu-ray. Hit the jump to find out how you can win.

In order to win the set, first off you’ll need to “Like” Collider on Facebook (you can also "like" Collider at the bottom of this article). Then, email thecollidermailbox@gmail.com with your name and address and put STAR WARS GIVEAWAY in the headline. This giveaway will be open until October 3rd at noon Pacific Time and is only open to residents of the United States. Also, only one entry per person. Once the giveaway ends, Steve will look over the entries and pick out a winner at random. It wouldn’t hurt to mention why you feel like you deserve the prize.

For a glimpse at what you’ll win, here’s the list of specs and special features included on the Blu-ray set:
STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY is presented in widescreen with 6.1 DTS Surround Sound. Special features include:

* DISC ONE – STAR WARS: EPISODE I THE PHANTOM MENACE

Star Wars: The Complete Saga hits Blu-ray tomorrow, which means the Lucasfilm marketing machine is in full swing. While many may be deriding the changes that The Almighty Tinkerer has made this time around, not everything Lucasfilm does is nerd-angering. The studio has launched an initiative to benefit the charity Stand Up to Cancer, and they’ve recruited some big names to help out. The Use the Force For Good intiative has kicked off with a video tribute featuring a number of celebrities reenacting scenes from the series. The clip is actually pretty funny, and includes Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Jaime King, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg, Emma Stone, and of course Samuel L. Jackson.

Hit the jump to watch the video. Unsurprisingly, Hader is the highlight, as his penchant for impressions leads to some fantastically goofy reenactments.

In addition to this reenactment video, eBay is auctioning off a number of rare and exclusive items, including a dinner with George Lucas, Chris Columbus, Francis Ford Coppola, Phillip Kaufman and John Lasseter. The proceeds from the auction will go to Stand Up to Cancer. Finally, select Major Legue Baseball Clubs across the country will be having Star Wars themed nights in their respective ballparks, with a portion of the proceeds also going to SU2C.

Here’s the video:

Despite fan complaints about George Lucas' alterations, the coming September 16 release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) on Blu-ray is a big deal for the world's big franchise. One of the more alluring components of the package is never-before-seen deleted scenes. We saw one from The Empire Strikes Back yesterday; tonight, we have the full list of deleted scenes, including their running times. I can't count myself among the hardcore, so I can't speculate on the possible significance of "Bail Organa Alderaan," "The Fate of General Veers," or "Jerjerrod's Conflict." But you can! Please do so after the jump.

Click here for the full rundown of special features. Note that you will have to spring for the whole set to see the deleted scenes. Via Bleeding Cool:

There have been plenty of complaints about George Lucas' continued tinkering with the original Star Wars trilogy (interesting side note: aside from the CGI Yoda in The Phantom Menace, Lucas hasn't touched the prequels), but there's more than just defiled movies on the upcoming Blu-ray box set. The set contains previously unreleased deleted scenes and one of those scenes has gone online. The clip shows an extended bickering/flirting between Han and Leia on Hoth. Their conversation is more sexually overt that what made the final cut and I'm glad it was left on the cutting room floor. It's too much too soon in the development of their relationship and it doesn't really fit with the overall tone of The Empire Strikes Back.

Click over to EW to see the clip. The only way to see the deleted scenes and all of the new special features is to buy the entire Star Wars: The Complete Saga and pay extra for the prequels you don't want. The Complete Saga set, along with the prequel trilogy and original trilogy sets, goes on sale September 16th.

Star Wars is finally coming to Blu-ray with the Star Wars: The Complete Saga boxed set, which means that there are more awesome digital alterations and changes that wholeheartedly improve every movie! (They don’t). We previously told you that George Lucas has replaced the puppet Yoda in The Phantom Menace with the CGI one seen in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and now comes word that The Almighty Tinkerer has made two horrible, audio alterations to the films. Hit the jump to find out what they are and to watch them for yourself.

Apparently Lucas has added Darth Vader’s laughable “NOOOOOOO!!” from Revenge of the Sith to Return of the Jedi. I know, it sounds too ridiculous to believe, but Badass Digest has apparently received confirmation that this is true, proving that Lucas is indeed insane.

Another change that’s a bit less likely and still unconfirmed is an alteration to Obi-Wan’s Krayt Dragon Call from A New Hope. This one’s still a rumor for now, so take it with a grain of salt.

Here are the clips (Thanks to Collider reader Carl):

NOTE: These aren't from the actual Blu-rays, but have the leaked audio clips synced up with the existing videos

A new trailer for Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) has gone online. The nine-disc collection includes the prequel trilogy and the special editions of the original trilogy so what's the point. If you think HD versions of crappy movies and diminished great movies is worth it, then click here. If you still need convincing (and honestly, how are you still on the fence at this point?) hit the jump to watch the trailer. Star Wars: The Complete Saga hits stores in the UK on September 12th and in the US on September 16th. You can click here to buy the Blu-rays of the prequel trilogy (whyyy?) and click here to buy the Blu-rays of the original trilogy. The Complete Saga has special features not included on the prequel trilogy or original trilogy box sets.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) is coming to Blu-ray on September 16. That's all six films plus three discs of bonus materials. Among the 40+ hours of extras is "deleted, extended and alternate scenes." Fox has released a new trailer for the Blu-ray which features snippets of the previously unseen footage. It looks like most other Star Wars montages, only grainier. You can complain that the discs won't include the original theatrical editions if you'd like, but you know you want this. Check out the footage for yourself after the jump.

If the upcoming Star Wars Blu-ray set included the original theatrical editions of the original trilogy, I would care what special features are on the Blu-ray. Unfortunately, we're being stuck with the special editions, complete with Han shooting first, awful Jabba the Hutt special effect, and cringeworthy musical number in Jabba's palace. For some people, these added flaws won't detract from the promise of seeing the beloved trilogy in high-definition.

Lucasfilm has now announced the full list of special features that will be included in the 9-disc set. While you can buy the original trilogy separate from the prequel trilogy, you'll have to buy all six films in the "Complete Saga" box-set to get the three additional discs of bonus material. So if you want the sweet new special features, you'll have to suffer the indignity of buying the prequels. Hit the jump for the list of special features and decide if it's worth it. Star Wars: The Complete Saga hits stores on September 16th for an SRP of $139.99. If you’re interested, you can pre-order Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray via this link to Amazon. In case you only want to partake in either the Original Blu-ray Trilogy or the Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy, you can click here or here respectively. [Disclaimer: we get a small percentage of from the sale of items purchased through our Amazon links, but if you were going to buy it anyway, why not throw a few credits our way?]

Tonight we're bringing you three different bits of Star Wars news in one conveniently tidy package. First up, we now know that the Star Wars Blu-ray collections (whose pre-orders we told you about a few weeks ago) will be released later this year on September 27th. For those you of who held out on pre-ordering your copy until a firm release date was announced, you can finally push that excuse aside. If you're interested, you can pre-order Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray via this link to Amazon. In case you only want to partake in either the Original Blu-ray Trilogy or the Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy, you can click here or here respectively.
Next, the Star Tours attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida will return from nine months of renovations on May 20th of this year. Referred to as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Disney Parks Blog confirms that the 3D attraction will feature "new droids, a new Starspeeder, and a new pilot" in the form of C-3PO. With all of this in the bag, hit the jump to learn about Liam Neeson's reprised role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
According to InsideTV, Liam Neeson will be reprising his Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace turn as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in two upcoming episodes of Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Per the report, Neeson will be lending his pipes to the animated series for the January 28th and February 11th episodes ...

Last August, we learned that all six Star Wars films would be hitting Blu-ray in fall 2011 (we also learned that it would be the "Special Edition" versions of the original trilogy, because why give people what they want, when they'll buy what they don't want first?). Now Engadget is reporting that they've received an invite to an announcement about the upcoming Blu-rays at this year's Consumer's Electronic Show. What will be announced? Special features? A firm release date? An acknowledgment that Han shot first but Lucas doesn't care? We'll find out Thursday when Lucasfilm makes their announcement regarding the upcoming set.

Hit the jump for an image of the invitation.
