Much interest has surrounded Sony’s biopic of the late innovator Steve Jobs, but it now looks like we have a clear idea of what to expect when the film eventually hits theaters. The Oscar-winning The Social Network scribe Aaron Sorkin has been tasked with crafting the screenplay for the adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs, and he previously revealed that his film won’t be a straight biography “because it’s very difficult to shake the cradle-to-grave structure of a biography.”
Many assumed the eschewing of the cradle-to-grave structure meant that Sorkin’s film would focus on a short period of time in Jobs’ life, but now the West Wing creator has revealed that he’s got something wholly unique in mind for the film’s structure: three 30-minute scenes that will play out in real time. Hit the jump for more. [Update: We've updated the article with video of Sorkin talking about the film.]

New images from the respective sets of Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street and Joshua Michael Stern‘s (Swing Vote) jOBS have found their way online. The Wolf images give us our first look at Leonardo DiCaprio in his turn as Jordan Belfort, a former financial rock star of sorts whose own memoir of the same name is the basis for the film. While we’ve already seen pics of Ashton Kutcher doing his best Steve Jobs impersonation while wearing a turtleneck and on LSD, today’s images give us a better idea of how well he can pull of the “button-up, cardigan, sweater vest” look.
Check out the images after the jump. The Wolf of Wall Street is aiming for a 2013 release and also stars Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, and Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead). jOBS co-stars Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Matthew Modine, Ahna O’Reilly, and Lukas Haas while also staring down an unspecified 2013 release.

Score one more for Sony’s Steve Jobs biopic. The studio announced earlier this week that Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) will be penning an adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs—giving the project a major leg-up in contrast to the Ashton Kutcher-fronted indie biopic Jobs—and now the production has the involvement of a key Apple player. Moreover, Sorkin revealed that the film won’t be the standard biopic that some are expecting:
“I know so little about what I am going to write. I know what I am not going to write. It can’t be a straight ahead biography because it’s very difficult to shake the cradle-to-grave structure of a biography.”
Hit the jump for more, including the nature of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak’s involvement on the project.

Earlier reports have been confirmed that Oscar-winning screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network), will adapt the Steve Jobs biography for Sony Pictures. The Walter Isaacson-penned biography, titled simply, “Steve Jobs,” came out a few weeks after the business mogul’s death last October; reports quickly started circulating that Sony was courting Sorkin to adapt it. While the rumors that Noah Wyle and George Clooney are in the running to portray Jobs have not been confirmed, Sorkin is officially attached. Also, please keep in mind that this is not the Ashton Kutcher indie biopic, Jobs, which was scripted by Matt Whiteley. Hit the jump for more on Sorkin and the Steve Jobs biopic.

Tonight’s batch of set photos is connected by a That 70s Show theme. Not only are Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher featured, but both are again styled in the fashion of the 70s for their respective period piece:
- Kutcher is playing Steve Jobs in the biopic Jobs: Get Inspired, which covers the Apple founder’s life from 1971-2000.
- Kunis stars alongside Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, and Zoe Saldana in Blood Ties, which centers two brothers involved in organized crime in 1970s Brooklyn

Magnolia Pictures has acquired US rights to Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview, and has released the first trailer for the film. The pic is actually a candid, in-depth interview with Jobs that took place in 1995 and was thought lost for the past 17 years. It finds Jobs at a crossroads and provides a fascinating look at the visionary two years before he would re-take control of Apple. Magnolia is presenting the interview in its unedited entirety, and this trailer provides a peek at some of the absorbing insights that are sure to be gleaned from the film.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer, followed by the full press release. Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview will open in select theaters on May 11th, with a DVD and VOD release to follow later this summer.

Earlier this month, we learned that Ashton Kutcher was poised to play the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in an indie biopic. The news made sense for some reasons (the physical similarities), but came as a bit of a surprise for other reasons (he’s Ashton Kutcher). At the time we didn’t really know much about the project beyond the fact that Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) is directing, and the film, going by the terrible working title Jobs: Get Inspired, will chronicle the innovator’s life “from a wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple.”
Now producer Mark Hulme has spilled a few details about the project, including how they feel about Sony’s competing Jobs biopic and why they think Kutcher is their man to play the lead role. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Given the rather odd casting choice, I feel the need to preface this story with the assertion that this is not an April Fools’ Day joke; this story is (as reported) 100% real. With that in mind, Mr. Ashton Kutcher is apparently readying to play the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a biopic called Jobs. The notion of a Jobs-centric biopic isn’t exactly new, as Sony began developing such a film merely days after the innovator’s passing. Last we heard, The Social Network scribe Aaron Sorkin was considering penning the studio project, but Jobs is an entirely separate film. Hit the jump for more.

Last Sunday, the third and final season of Eastbound and Down premiered with one of the series’ best episodes to date. They’ve got the comedy of Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) down to a science, and every one of his lines absolutely kills. A couple years ago, K-Swiss made the bold and brilliant decision to hire Kenny as their pitchman/MFCEO (Motherfuckin’ Chief Executive Officer). Now he’s back, parodying Steve Jobs (tooo soooon!), and selling K-Swiss’ latest shoe, Blades. The commercial is five-minutes long and only ten seconds are devoted to talking about the design of the shoe. Everything else is Kenny Powers being awesome and hilarious.
Hit the jump to check out the commercial, which features a conversation with Bruce Lee, green chicks on the moon, and a blood-drenched animated sequence. Eastbound and Down airs at 10pm EST on HBO.

Here’s a hard truth about Steve Jobs: he was just a business man. His products were popular (although controversial among tech geeks), and he ran a successful company, but his death was treated like the passing of one of history’s great leaders. The non-stop deification has become quite annoying and it doesn’t seem like it will end any time soon. Last month we reported that Aaron Sorkin was being courted by Sony to write a biopic about Jobs. The Oscar-winning screenwriter now tells E! (via THR) that “it’s something I’m strongly considering,” but added, “Right now I’m just in the thinking-about-it stages. It’s a really big movie and it’s going to be a great movie no matter who writes it.”

I’ll give you a second to read that headline again so you know that the next few paragraphs are not written in stone. In a report from The Sun (via Slashfilm), they suggest that former ER co-stars George Clooney and Noah Wyle are in competition for the role of Apple-icon Steve Jobs for a biopic by Sony. While there is no factual evidence to support this, Wyle did once portray Jobs in the TV biography Pirates of Silicon Valley and Clooney is being courted to play in almost everything. Rumor or not, Sony is definitely anxious to get production moving on the biopic and is banking on Aaron Sorkin to pen the script. Hit the jump for more on this project.

Mere days after the incredibly sad passing of pioneer Steve Jobs, we reported that Sony had acquired the rights to the authorized biography by Walter Isaacson and was planning a biopic. Jobs’ life is definitely one of great interest, but nailing down a tactful film based on his life is going to be a very tough task. Sony seems to be moving ahead with the film, and apparently Aaron Sorkin is being courted to take on scripting duties. Sorkin is an inspired choice, and I could really think of no one better to capture the visionary spirit of Jobs. Though no decisions have been made, the Social Network writer is said to be considering the prospect. Hit the jump for more.

Following the extremely sad death of Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs, an outpouring of love followed in the form of heartfelt statements, serving as a testament to Jobs’ innovation and character. Among those who wrote a few words about the visionary was screenwriter/God of Words Aaron Sorkin. The Academy Award-winning scribe behind The Social Network and The West Wing recounted the last phone call he ever got from Jobs, in which he asked Sorkin to write a Pixar movie. Hit the jump to see how the conversation went.

By now, most of the world knows that Apple visionary Steve Jobs has passed away from his battle with pancreatic cancer. As is normally the case with such high-profile individuals as Jobs, people want to know their life story to commiserate with their struggles and celebrate their successes. So it comes as no surprise that the soon-to-be-published biography, Steve Jobs, has already sold its feature rights.
Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to the only authorized bio by Walter Isaacson, the former CNN chairman and Time Magazine managing editor. The hot commodity became even hotter with the news of Jobs’ death, moving its publication date up almost a month. This feature will mark the second movie chronicling Jobs’ rise, the first being The Pirates of Silicon Valley, which TNT re-aired recently. Hit the jump for more on the project.
