THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER slice

A few days ago I got to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.  The reason I got to attend is because Warner Bros. Home Video was promoting the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 on Blu-ray and DVD, and they flew in reporters from all around the world to interview the cast and filmmakers.  While I wasn’t sure what to expect, I was blown away by the attention to detail (credit goes to Harry Potter production designer Stuart Craig) and how walking through the park is like walking through the streets of Hogsmeade Village outside Hogwarts.  If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you will absolutely love it.

However, it’s very important to know one thing before you go: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is not an all day park. It’s merely one portion of Universal’s larger Island of Adventure theme park. In fact, if the lines are short, you could visit every store and go on all the rides in a few hours, though the lines are never short and you’ll want to spend a lot of time shopping in Ollivanders Wand Shop.  I know I did.  Hit the jump for more.

Director David Yates Interview HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 1; Talks 3D Post Conversion, PART 2, More

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: November 15th, 2010 at 7:35 pm

With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 getting released in a few days, Warner Bros. held a big press junket this past weekend in London and I got to fly across the pond to attend.  Yesterday I posted my interview with Emma Watson, and for today’s installment, I’ve got director David Yates.

During the intimate roundtable interview, Yates talked about the premiere the night before, explains why they decided to break up the last book into two installments, talked about why they shelved 3D at the last second and confirmed Part 2 will definitely be in 3D.  He also talked about the big battle at Hogwarts in Part 2, filming on location and how the actors loved it, and says he has no idea what he’ll be directing after Potter because he hasn’t had the time to read any scripts.

Finally, due to Warner Bros. allowing us to use flip cams, after the jump you can either read the transcript or watch the interview.  What are you waiting for:

HARRY POTTER Ultimate Editions slice (1).jpg

Last month, rumors began to surface that Warner Bros. was going to release ultimate editions of the first two “Harry Potter” movies. While no one was sure if it would be theatrical or on home video, today WB officially announced the titles and they are home video releases.

So to help promote the December 8th release, WB has cut a new trailer which details what you can expect to see on the DVD’s and Blu-rays and if you’re a fan of the “Harry Potter” franchise, I’m sorry to say…you’ll be double dipping this holiday season. Watch the trailer and read about the extras after the jump:
