Summer Glau THE HUMAN PRESERVATION PROJECT Interview

by Christina Radish    Posted: December 15th, 2011 at 8:27 am

Initially inspired by the unique world portrayed in 5 Gum’s TV commercials and launched with mysterious coded messages, The Human Preservation Project (at www.SurvivalCode.com) is an Alternative Reality Game from 42 Entertainment, the award-winning company behind ARGs such as ilovebees for Halo 2, Why So Serious? for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Year Zero an alternate reality experience with Nine Inch Nails.  Starring Terry O’Quinn (Lost, Hawaii Five-0) and Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), the journey is an online sensory test and a call to action, with the simple mission of stimulating your senses, as players access over 20 original games, puzzles and challenges to solve. As they unlock these sensory testing facilities, players can access digital pages of a new graphic novel that tells the World of 5 mythology.

During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, actress Summer Glau talked about how she got involved with this unique project, why she felt to connected to the character, the process of shooting something like this, that she hopes to continue telling this story, how loyal she is to the fans who have been so supportive of her entire career, and how sci-fi has given her the best characters to play. Comic-Con 2011: KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM Panel Recap; Director Joe Lynch Premieres the Trailer and First Clip from the Movie [Updated with Trailer]

Major films at Comic-Con want to keep their cards close to the vest, but the smaller films need to show more to get some attention.  Knights of Badassdom is a smaller film but it’s got a great premise: a group of LARPers (Live-Action Role Players) head out into the woods, end up doing a real spell, and accidentally summon a blood-thirsty demon.  As the demon starts picking off LARPers, three friends (played by Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, and Peter Dinklage) have to find a way to defeat the demon.  It sounds like a fun blend of comedy, horror, and fantasy and it’s one of my most-anticipated panels of the Con.  Major films sell themselves, but Knights of Badassdom has a shot at winning over an audience unfamiliar with the flick.

David Lyons and Summer Glau Interview THE CAPE

by Christina Radish    Posted: January 17th, 2011 at 10:44 am

The new NBC drama The Cape stars David Lyons as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on the corrupt police force of Palm City, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife and son, and becomes so fueled by the desire to reunite with his family and battle the criminal forces responsible that he decides to become his son’s favorite comic book superhero, The Cape, and take the law into his own hands. One of the many individuals willing to help The Cape is the mysterious Orwell (Summer Glau), an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City.

During the NBC portion of the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, co-stars David Lyons and Summer Glau talked about what drew them to these intriguing new roles, the dependence these two characters have on each other, and enjoying the physicality of this show. THE CAPE Series Premiere Review

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: January 9th, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Heroes has already been flushed, Smallville is on its way out and no one wants Wonder Woman. I think it’s safe to say that network television needs a new superhero. Though ABC has impressed me with No Ordinary Family, the series is less about being a superhero, and more about a family who just happens to have to deal with super powers in addition to the usual family trials and tribulations. Enter The Cape, NBC’s newest attempt at bringing the insanely popular comic book genre to TV. Thankfully, the series has plenty of potential (even if it doesn’t have the greatest hero name). But as much as there is to like about The Cape, the two-hour premiere isn’t without flaws. Keep reading for my take on this new network superhero.

TV News Summer Glau Cast Dons THE CAPE, Katherine Heigl Exits GREYS ANATOMY, and Betty White Finds Herself in THE MIDDLE.jpg

Today we have three of television’s finest female actors at three very different stages in their careers.  Constantly poised to break out beyond her current cult stardom, Summer Glau has nabbed the lead role in the pilot for NBC’s superhero hourlong, The Cape.  Over on ABC, the outspoken Katherine Heigl has already gotten her big break, and so is eager to abandon her post on the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy to pursue her blossoming film career.  Meanwhile, internet darling Betty White continues to enjoy a recent resurgence in the twilight of her career, earning a role in the season finale of family sitcom The Middle.

As a science fiction nerd, I was onboard Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the word “Terminator”.  The show focuses on the bond between Sarah and her son John as they work together with the first cute Terminator, Cameron, to stave off Armageddon.  Were they successful?  Was it entertaining?  More after the jump.

Is Summer Glau Going to Play in Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE?

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: May 27th, 2009 at 8:25 pm

dollhouse_summer_glau_01.jpgI stopped watching “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” after the first season not because I thought the show was bad, but simply because I didn’t really have time to fit it into my schedule and didn’t love it enough to make time.  Apparently, that was a mistake on my part because according to trusted friends, the show got ridiculously good in its second season.  And so, naturally, Fox made sure to cancel it.  The only benefit from this is that it may have freed up Summer Glau to jump over to the Friday night genre show that survived: Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” which finally started to find its way after a rocky start.

Talking to Michael Ausiello over at EW.com, Whedon says he’s already trying to come up with a part for her but NOT an Active. “I’d rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who’s good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.’”  And it’s because Whedon realizes things like this is partially why we love him so much.  Hopefully we’ll get to see Summer playing a normal girl whenever “Dollhouse” begins its second season.
