This is the story of a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost, picked to live in a house to see if they can stop being monsters and start Being Human. In last year’s first season of the American version of UK hit, Being Human, audiences were introduced to the vampire, Aidan (Sam Witwer); the werewolf, Josh (Sam Huntington) and resident ghost, Sally (Meaghan Rath). The supernatural trio spent 13episodes dealing with their respective addictions that formed the central theme of the first season. In season two, they face even stronger temptations as new complications arise. The Boston brownstone becomes even more crowded with new ghosts, a surprise werewolf and rowdy vampires stirring up trouble. And you thought your roommates were bad. Being Human returns to SyFy Monday night, January 16th at 9PM Eastern. Hit the jump to check out a preview of season two.

Much like he did with Oz in Tin Man and Wonderland in Alice, writer/director Nick Willing is bringing Neverland to life, in a two-part original movie for SyFy, premiering on December 4th and 5th. An original prequel story to author J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan, Peter (Charlie Rowe) and his young pickpocket pals are rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans) to steal a magical orb, which inadvertently transports them all to another world, known as Neverland. Once there, they encounter power-mad pirates, led by the seductive Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel), a Native American tribe and a colony of tree spirits that possess a magical mineral dust that enables the pure of heart to fly. As the fight to protect and save this beautiful world escalates, Peter must decide whether growing old somewhere in time is more important than defending the place where he will never grow up.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, writer/director Nick Willing talked about what made him choose to go with a prequel to the Peter Pan story, the importance of remaining faithful to the tone of the book, how he would have loved to have been able to talk to Barrie about his work, assembling such a talented cast for the film, the challenges of bringing a fantasy world to life on a TV budget, and why he always finds himself pulled back to the fantasy genre. He also talked about already working on creating his next SyFy movie about another known fantasy world (he can’t reveal what it is because SyFy has not made the announcement yet), and that he is also creating his own world as a television series, set a little bit in the future. While fairytales are all the rage on TV right now with Once Upon a Time and Grimm hitting networks, comic books are still alive and kicking. THR has word that SyFy has ordered a pilot script for a one-hour drama series adaptation of the DC Comics franchise Booster Gold. The series will be brought to life by Greg Berlanti, the man who has had plenty of experience with superheroes as of late with ABC’s decent but canned No Ordinary Family and Warner Bros. big screen take on Green Lantern this past summer. Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) will write the script and executive produce the potential series which will follow a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.
The character actually made an appearance in the final season of Smallville earlier this year, so that might be the push the property needed to make it to television on its own. While SyFy used to be a place for laughs at bad science fiction, recent turns with Being Human and Battlestar Galactica have made it a decent home for some quality entertainment every now and then.

In a move that finally gives the Xbox 360 a bit of an edge over the Playstation 3 as an all-encompassing entertainment device, a whole slew of international TV partners have been revealed by Microsoft to be providing services to users of the popular video game system. The new deal allows for channels like SyFy, Bravo, Epix, Crackle, TMZ, UFC, Verizon FiOS, ESPN and the morning news program The Today Show to be available through Xbox LIVE. However, the real cream of the crop comes from Comcast’s Xfinity On Demand service and (drumroll please) HBO GO to be available through the game system, but only in the United States at the moment. Personally, I can’t wait to be able to watch older HBO shows like Six Feet Under and The Sopranos thanks to this new deal. As for the rest of the world, there are plenty more TV partners for Xbox LIVE coming your way, and you can check out the full press release with the list of new partners.

Today’s your lucky day, Battlestar Galactica fans. For those of you who want to take your fandom to the next level, or have the desire to simultaneously express your love for Battlestar Galactica and quench your thirst, we’ve got just the thing for you. A Top Gun stein from the beloved Syfy series exists, and it’s set to be available for your drinking pleasure before the end of the year. Syfy gave Eureka the unexpected axe earlier this week, but for every cancellation, there is an equal and opposite renewal. The Live Feed reports the network renewed Warehouse 13 for a fourth season, appropriately ordering 13 episodes to premiere in 2012. Led by Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly, and Aaron Ashmore, Warehouse 13 is currently airing season three episodes on Monday nights.
In other renewal news, USA renewed two shows: Suits and In Plain Sight. Suits has been a solid addition to the USA rotation since its June series premiere averaging more than 6 million viewers per episode. The network ordered 16 episodes for season two. The news is more bittersweet for In Plain Sight, as The Live Feed hears the newly announced season five will also be its last. The series, which stars Mary McCormack as a U.S. Marshal, wrapped up its fourth season last Sunday. Leave your condolences and/or celebration in the comments, depending on the predicament of your favorite show mentioned here.

Tonight, Syfy announced the show will end after its fifth season. This is not your average cancellation, though. Eureka is currently in the middle of airing season 4.5, and just last week, the network committed to a six-episode sixth season. Syfy exec Mark Stern even stated, “We are hopeful that this will not be the end of the franchise.” Instead, Eureka has 18 segments to finish out its run; 6 more in season four and 12 episodes on the way in 2012 for the fifth and final season. Read the network’s explanation after the break:

The geniuses (and sheriff) of the scientific research town of Eureka were on hand today to talk about Season 4.5 of the popular SyFy series. Along with regular cast members Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Neil Grayston, this season’s new addition Felicia Day also joined a Q&A moderated by Wil Wheaton. Executive producers Jamie Paglia and Bruce Miller introduced a new trailer for the currently-airing season and teased the audience a bit with upcoming changes to America’s smartest little town. On the new SyFy series Alphas, actor Malik Yoba plays Bill Harken, a former FBI agent who strictly adheres to procedure and protocol, and who has to always be aware of the amazing strength that comes from his special ability to activate his fight-or-flight response at will. His super-human strength and a resistance to harm that borders on invulnerability is what brings him to the attention of Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), who makes him part of a clandestine group of individuals that investigate cases that point to others with Alpha abilities.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, Malik Yoba talked about what attracted him to Alphas, after having done 10 other TV series in the past, how he loves his character’s flaws, the collaboration between the writers and actors, and how they’re encouraged to do improv and bring humor to the show. He also talked about the desire to want to write and direct his own projects, and his hope to do more comedy. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

When the popular SyFy series Eureka returns for Season 4.5, Zane Donovan (Niall Matter) is still trying to figure out the history between himself and Deputy Sheriff Jo Lupo (Erica Cerra), knowing that things aren’t quite what they seem, as a result of a trip to 1947 that changed the timeline of the town and its residents. Although Zane has a brilliant mind that proves useful in the secret community of geniuses that conduct top-secret research for the government, he’s not sure what to make of his feelings for Lupo, but he’s definitely starting to voice them.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Canadian actor Niall Matter talked about going from guest star to series regular, the joy of essentially getting to explore Zane all over again, maturing personally along with his on screen character, working with co-star Erica Cerra and developing their relationship on the show, and having comic legend Stan Lee guest star on an episode. He also said he hopes to guest star on an episode of SyFy’s latest original drama Alphas, and that he’d like to do a full-blown comedy. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

The latest original scripted series for SyFy, Alphas is an action-packed thriller from writers Zak Penn (The Avengers, X-Men: The Last Stand) and Michael Karnow, that follows the lives of five ordinary people who become an extraordinary team with the power to stretch the capabilities of the human mind due to brain anomalies that have given them enhanced mental and physical abilities. Operating within the Defense Criminal Investigation Service of the U.S. Department of Defense, and led by pre-eminent neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), the team – which includes former FBI Agent Bill Harken (Malik Yoba), who can summon strength by activating the fight-or-flight response at will; Rachel Mizrahi (Azita Ghanizada), who can enhance one sense while rendering her remaining senses temporarily useless; Gary Bell (Ryan Cartwright), who has the ability to read a wide range of frequencies including television, radio, and cell phone signals; Nina Theroux (Laura Mennell), who can influence the specific neural pathways in the cerebral cortex that leave the brain vulnerable to suggestion; and Cameron Hicks (Warren Christie), who possesses flawless aim, perfect balance and greatly enhanced motor skills – investigates cases that point to others with Alpha abilities, while keeping their own gifts a secret.
During an exclusive interview with Collider, executive producer Zak Penn talked about how the show developed out of real research about the CIA trying to recruit people who were psychic, the time-intensive schedule of television versus film, how much he’s enjoyed getting to create a mythology from scratch, why it was important for these Alpha abilities to have consequences, and what having Ira Steven Behr as a showrunner has meant to the development of the series. If there’s anyone out there who was supremely disappointed by the cancellation of The Event, first of all, I’m baffled by your continued interest in such a sloppy drama trying way to hard to be mysterious. Second of all, good news might be on the horizon for fans of the cancelled series as EW reports SyFy is considering putting the second season on their network as a miniseries. It’s not a full season, but if you’re really dying to know more about The Event, then this might be your only chance. Apparently no deal is in place just yet, but there’s a chance that it could happen. The question is just how many of the original cast members would return for the miniseries, and is there anyone who actually cares?

“From the depths of the Earth it will rise!” Sounds like the world’s impending doom has been brought to our television screens again. Buildings crashing, roads splitting, rocks tumbling, people screaming, mysteries wavering, science absolute, and a monster exasperating. Underneath all of the rubble, only one thing remains: too many questions. If Behemoth is to be the end of the world, was it meant to be this unreasonable and pathetic? Hit the jump for my full review.

In Scream of the Banshee, a college professor (Lauren Holly) opens a mysterious box that was found hidden in the tunnels under her university. When she and her students hear the bone-splitting scream of a banshee, they all become fated to die a terrible death. Now the professor, her daughter and a few of her students must try to stop the banshee, before it’s too late.
During a recent interview to promote the premiere of the 200th original movie for SyFy, actor Lance Henriksen talked about his eccentric character, the challenge of taking on a role unlike anything he’s done before, working at a plantation house in Louisiana, releasing his autobiography on his birthday (May 5th), his reflections on his time on the television series Millennium, and what he sees as his dream role. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

After giving the first few episodes a fairly positive review, unfortunately time got away from me and I haven’t stayed on top of SyFy’s new “original” series, the remake of the British imported Being Human. However, there’s good news for fans who have been more loyal and responsible than I have as Syfy has just announced that they’ve renewed the series for a second season. In addition, the series premiere was the networks’ most successful winter season scripted series launch in six years and apparently it has become the network’s most successful series with their female demographic.
If you haven’t followed the series, it focuses on three supernatural roommates, a vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), a ghost Sally Meaghan Rath) and a werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington), who share their secrets and a Boston brownstone. Together they learn that there are fates worse than death and more to life – and the afterlife – than most “normal” humans could ever imagine. See the official press release after the jump.
