Megan Fox is probably going to shoot down your tried-and-true pick-up lines on the best of days, even if you're not wearing a geometrically-patterned turtle shell with oven mitts on your hands and deedlybops on your head. So imagine how difficult it must be for Raphael (Alan Ritchson) to convince April O'Neil (Megan Fox) to give him back his signature sais. This new batch of set images from Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows just that scene unfolding. I'm assuming the red bandana around Ritchson's arm is to distinguish him as Raph and that he's not robbing O'Neil as some sort of gang initiation rewrite.

Hit the jump to view the new images. The film also stars Danny Woodburn, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens on June 6, 2014.

Last night I turned to Xbox Live to check out Shane Carruth's Upstream Color for the first time. While not quite as impenetrable after one viewing as its predecessor, 2004's Primer, Upstream still demands the utmost attention of its viewers in exchange for the slightest hint of clarity. The dialogue is sparse, the setting is ever-changing, the editing is heavily dependent on juxtaposition as a way of creating meaning, and the sound design/foley work is turned up to "11" at times. Whereas Primer played more to the intellect behind making time travel a reality, Upstream is an extremely visceral experience that is more interested, or at least more successful, in eliciting an emotional response than explaining how a rare organism can be harvested, used as a method of mind control, and ultimately link humans to pigs. The exact degree to which it succeeds will vary from viewer to viewer but it's ultimately an experience I recommend taking in.
Of course a movie like Upstream lends itself to more than a few lines of my humble analysis, but that's not actually why we're here. In this week's Top 5 you can check out the first trailer and poster for Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, a generous number of set pics from director Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, Steve's exclusive phone interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the first trailer for Ender's Game, and a look at Iron Man by the Numbers. A brief recap and link to each will greet you after ...

A new batch of images from the set of director Jonathan Liebeseman’s (Battle: Los Angeles) reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has landed online, giving us our first look at the actors playing the turtles. As previously reported, the titular characters will be created using performance capture technology, and in these images we see the film’s cast wearing turtle-shaped mo-cap suits complete with mo-cap shells. We also get a new look at Megan Fox as April O’Neill and Will Arnett as…a character we don’t know just yet. It’s admittedly unfair to judge a film like this without seeing what the finished turtles look like, but everything about this reboot just seems really sad. The prospect of William Fichtner as Shredder is certainly promising, so here’s hoping TMNT is a pleasant surprise.

Hit the jump to check out the set images. The film also stars Danny Woodburn, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens on June 6, 2014.

We’ve got some new casting news:

Vince Vaughn has joined the comedy Daddy’s Home, the feature directorial debut of Etan Cohen (Men in Black 3). Vaughn will star opposite the big cat himself, Will Ferrell. The film is about a radio exec (Ferrell) who lives a mild-mannered life until his wife’s ex-husband (Vaughn) returns to the picture and begins competing for his step-children’s love.
Director Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) cast William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake. Turtles will be produced by Michael Bay, and the cast includes Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, and Will Arnett. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens June 6, 2014.

Hit the jump for more information on the casting.

Vaughn has signed on to the Paramount film Daddy’s Home as his next project. Per Variety), Ferrell and Adam McKay (Anchorman) will produce the film for Gary Sanchez Productions along with Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane at Good Universe. Cohen and McKay will write the script with Brian Burns (Entourage) and Chris Henchy (The Campaign). I am excited to see a reunion of Vaughn and Ferrell, who made great comedic rivals in Anchorman. Additionally, I am excited to see Ferrell reunite with McKay---their 2010 collaboration The Other Guys was one of the most underrated comedies of the decade.

Although not much is known about Fichtner’s specific role in Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake, Deadline says he will play a character with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology. We have seen a few set photos of Fox and ...

The production delay for Jurassic Park 4 has scuttled Universal's plans for a June 13, 2014 release date. But you can't let a good release day go to waste, and Sony has wasted no time in moving the 21 Jump Street sequel into that vacated spot. This move makes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the only wide release on June 6, 2014. Filming on TMNT is currently underway with Megan Fox on a trampoline.

As for the sequel to 21 Jump Street, filming is set to begin this fall. Phil Lord and Chris Miller will return to direct; Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will reprise their roles as Officers Schmidt and Jenko. Korean Jesus be praised.

When the first bit of footage from the set of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is star Megan Fox jumping on a trampoline, you'd be within your rights to throw all credibility out the window. But for those of you who like that sort of thing, we now have video of said same event, plus new images that reveal the logo for director Jonathan Liebesman's remake and Fox in her more April O'Neil-appropriate attire.

Also starring Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher, Ninja Turtles opens on June 6, 2014. Hit the jump to check out the new set images and video.

Production is currently underway on director Jonathan Liebesman’s reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the first set photos have surfaced online giving us a look at Megan Fox as reporter April O’Neil. It doesn’t look like Fox has done much to alter her appearance, and the scene in question has the actress covering some sort of outdoor workout regimen as she bounces up and down on a trampoline while wearing fitness gear. So yeah, this doesn’t really give us any idea of what Liebesman’s vision for the Michael Bay-produced Ninja Turtles looks like, but if you wanna see Megan Fox jumping on a trampoline, these set images are right up your alley.

Opening this weekend is director Michael Bay’s fantastic dark comedy Pain & Gain. The film is based on a crazy true story and stars Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson as two bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong. Pain and Gain also stars Anthony Mackie, Rebel Wilson, Tony Shalhoub, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong, and Bar Paly. For more on the film, watch some clips or the red-band trailer.

Last week at the Miami press junket, I landed an exclusive interview with Michael Bay. He talked about balancing the truth while making a movie, why it took so long to make the film, deleted scenes, whether he will release an extended cut on Blu-ray, test screenings, and a lot more. In addition, beside telling a crazy true story involving the real people involved, I got an update on director Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hit the jump to watch and definitely check out Pain and Gain this weekend. It’s absolutely worth seeing.

Michael Bay:

After talking about making Pain and Gain for over ten years, why was this the time to make it
Balancing the truth with making a movie
How long was his first cut and how long was his first director's cut
Will he release an extended cut on Blu-ray
Says he might be willing to put another 10 minutes back into the movie on home video
Who does he show his movies to first (talks about test screenings)
Talks about the crazy story behind the characters that Anthony Mackie and Rebel Wilson play and what happened at the trial. Involves a BJ.

We’ve got a couple of rather interesting casting stories to report this evening. First up, Wally Pfister has added another familiar face to the cast of his directorial debut Transcendence. Pfister previously worked as a cinematographer, most notably collaborating with Christopher Nolan on all of his films, and now Batman Begins and Inception star Cillian Murphy has been tapped to play one of three male leads in Transcendence. The film stars Johnny Depp and is rumored to concern a scientist whose brain gets uploaded into a supercomputer, but confirmed plot details are being kept under tight wraps.

News of Murphy’s casting comes courtesy of Latino Review, but further details regarding his character are unknown. Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, and Kate Mara also star. The film is due out April 25, 2014. Hit the jump to find out which Seinfeld alum has been cast as Master Splinter in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles redo.

Additionally, Deadline reports that Danny Woodburn has signed on to star as Master Splinter in director Jonathan Liebesman’s (Wrath of the Titans) live-action/CG reboot Ninja Turtles. Woodburn is a decidedly left field choice to play the crucial mentor character, but you’ve no doubt seen the actor before in films like Mirror Mirror and Death to Smoochy and he's probably best known for playing Kramer’s buddy Mickey on Seinfeld.

Megan Fox is set to play April O'Neil in the reboot, with Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher playing the titular Turtles by way of performance capture. ...

Will Arnett (Arrested Development) appears to be the latest addition to Jonathan Liebesman's Ninja Turtles, the reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property that's expected out on June 6, 2014. We know that Megan Fox (Transformers) will play April O'Neil and that the Turtles themselves have been cast, but Arnett's role is under wraps at the moment. The major roles yet to be cast, at least if we're staying in canon, are the team's mentor and trainer, Splinter, and the main antagonist, Shredder. Turtle-friend Casey Jones also needs to be cast, but reports have excluded Arnett from that role. Hit the jump for more.

Heat Vision reports that Arnett will be joining Ninja Turtles in an undisclosed role. As for the turtles themselves, Pete Ploszek (Parks and Recreation) will lead, Jeremy Howard (Breaking Bad) will do machines, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) will be cool but crude and Noel Fisher (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2) will play a party dude.

Arnett will next be seen reprising his role as Gob in Netflix’s Arrested Development and will also star in a CBS pilot for Greg Garcia. Arnett will next be heard as the voice of Batman in Warner Bros.’ upcoming animated film The Lego Movie and will voice the lead character of Surly the Squirrel in The Nut Job from Gulfstream Pictures.

While Arnett is a capable actor best known for his comedic performances, I have a hard time seeing him as Splinter or Shredder. My guess is some sort of human associate of O'Neil. Let us know who you think Arnett will be playing in ...

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, Ninja Turtles, is starting to take shape. After recent news that newcomer Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) had been tapped to play Raphael, more casting news has come down the line about the rest of the turtle team. Deadline reports that Pete Ploszek will play Leonardo, Jeremy Howard will play Donatello, and Noel Fisher will play Michelangelo.

Hit the jump to find out more about the cast of the new film. Ninja Turtles is due out June 6, 2014.

The three other leads in the reboot come from varying backgrounds. Ploszek may be best known for his guest appearances on Parks and Recreation and Shameless. Fisher had a strong role Hatfields & McCoys, and he was in the cast of the final Twilight Saga film and also appeared in Battle: Los Angeles. As for Howard, he has played a lot of guest-starring roles on shows including Breaking Bad, Suburgatory, and Grey's Anatomy.

But don't think just because most of the cast are relative newcomers that the reboot will be all about the costumes. The original turtles could hardly be distinguished under foam and latex, but word is that the reboot is supposed to take a more Avatar-like approach. So while some of the cast may be newcomers now, if all goes well with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake, it could make them into big stars.

The new film is already coming along nicely, which could bode well for its future at the box office. Megan Fox has already been cast in the female lead ...

The first of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been cast in Jonathan Liebesman's Ninja Turtles. According to Deadline, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) will be picking up a pair of digital sai to do the motion capture performance for Raphael. For those unfamiliar with TMNT, Raphael is usually the wise-cracking rebel of the group, which tends to bring him into direct conflict with the group's by-the-book leader, Leonardo. Last month, Megan Fox was cast as reporter April O'Neil.

Despite dropping "Teenage" and "Mutant" from the title, Liebesman and producer Michael Bay have said that this reboot will build off the original comic books by Kevin Eastman. Fans raised on the animated series were a bit miffed when Bay announced that the characters would be created by aliens rather than radioactive "ooze". However, Eastman says the movie will have "Raid: Redemption-style fight scenes" and "epic Rise of the Planet of the Apes sort of effects," so perhaps that will make some of the changes easier to accept. Ninja Turtles is due out June 6, 2014.

Check out the latest release dates for the following movies:

Ninja Turtles - The Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Megan Fox will now open on June 6, 2014.
Annie - Will Gluck's Annie remake, starring Quvenzhané Wallis, will open on Christmas Day 2014.
The Kings of Summer - Formerly titled Toy's House and starring Nick Offerman, Megan Mulally and Alison Brie, The Kings of Summer gets a new release date of June 14, 2013.
Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite - The direct-to-video animated Lego feature will be available on DVD/Blu-ray/On Demand/Digital Download starting May 21st.

Hit the jump for more on each movie.

All release date info comes courtesy of Box Office Mojo. Most recently in Ninja Turtles news was the report that Michael Bay and Megan Fox had patched up their previous disagreements and would reteam for the TMNT picture. Now it looks as if the reboot will open three weeks later than it was originally slotted for, just one week before ceding ground to Jurassic Park 4.

Although Wallis missed out on an Oscar win, the young actress has landed a major role with the lead in the Annie remake. Gluck is currently rewriting the Aline Brosh McKenna script with Will Smith, James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jay Brown, Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith and Jay-Z producing. Wallis will next be seen in Steve McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave.

Formerly titled Toy's House, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' The Kings of Summer earned some attention at Sundance 2013 and will now have to change their recently-released poster.

Finally, thanks ...

Even though Megan Fox and Michael Bay had an infamous falling out during the Transformers days, it looks like the director has patched things up, not with roses, but with pizza. Bay announced on his blog that Fox will be cast in his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and will be playing "intrepid reporter and good-natured friend to reptiles" April O'Neil. The actress was won over by a series of meetings with Bay, as well as impressive storyboard sessions with director Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles). Casting is currently underway for unknowns to play the heroes in a half-shell, who will be motion capture animated in the live-action/CG hybrid picture due out in 2014. Hit the jump for more.

News of Fox's involvement with the recently retitled Ninja Turtles comes directly from Bay's blog:
TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!
Heat Vision confirms the female lead for Fox as well as the status on casting the Turtles. Perhaps this is why Bay chose to remove the "Teenage" part of the title, because good luck getting teenage boys/mutants to do anything productive with Fox walking around. On a related note, Bay has now pretty much guaranteed an audience completely full of teenage boys (and slightly-closer-to-middle-age fanboys...ahem).

The last time we'd heard anything on the story of Ninja Turtles was in the backlash of Bay announcing that aliens would be involved in the creation of the titular heroes. This prompted a response from director Jonathan Liebesman as well as TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman himself. The Paramount ...

Opening this Friday is director Len Wiseman's remake of Total Recall. Based on the short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick, Total Recall stars Colin Farrell in the role originated by Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the film, Farrell stars as Douglas Quaid, a man who is bored with his life (even though he's married to Kate Beckinsale) and seeks to have adventurous memories implanted in his brain. However, after visiting Recall, both friends and family are after him for different reasons. But the big problem is he doesn't know what's real. The film also stars Jessica Biel, John Cho, Bill Nighy, and Bryan Cranston.

The other day I got to speak with Jessica Biel here in Los Angeles. We talked about how the film is non-stop action, what she did to prepare for the role, the practical sets and how it wasn't a CG fest, and what it's like to do so much press. In addition, if you follow me on Twitter you know I always offer our readers the chance to send in questions. When I said I'd be speaking with Biel, people wanted to know if she'd consider playing April O'Neil in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and why she really dropped out of The Wolverine. Both answers are at the end of the interview. Hit the jump to watch.

Finally, if you missed Len Wiseman telling me the Total Recall Blu-ray would have a directors cut that was 17 minutes longer, you can ...

The upcoming Michael Bay-produced reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has brushed up quite a bit of passionate discussion regarding the finer points of turtle mutation, but the comic book series co-creator Kevin Eastman is put those reservations at bay (pun intended). Though Bay’s comments about the Turtles coming from an alien race in this new iteration got many a Ninja Turtles fans’ undergarments in a twist, director Jonathan Liebesman shot back that whatever changes they were making to the source material were coming from Eastman himself:
“Whatever mythology we’re building on or expanding is coming from that guy, Kevin Eastman’s head, who created the Turtles in the first place. And so everything will tie in with the mythology; fans will be extremely excited with what we’re coming up with.”
Now Eastman himself has spoken a bit about the property, confidently proclaiming that Ninja Turtles is the best adaptation of the comics yet, despite its glaring lack of Vanilla Ice. Hit the jump for more from Eastman.

The latest word on the development of the Ninja Turtles reboot came last month, when Paramount decided to delay the project in order to address script issues. The release was pushed back from December 2013 to May 2014, but who knows if it’ll even make that date when all is said and done. Nevertheless, Eastman seems extremely optimistic about the film, comparing it to a couple of recent success in its fighting style and visual effects angle during an interview with MTV:
"From what I've seen, it's ...

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a big part of my childhood. I grew up in this sweet spot where the cartoon was incredibly popular and we got the first few movies and a slew of video games. I entered into Friday’s panel at Room 6BCF with hesitation. A few animated films that never took off and some jittery cartoon series have since come out and I’ve grown older. I can safely say, though, that while there are some big changes afoot, I think showrunner Ciro Neili knows just what buttons to push to revitalize this franchise. During a lively panel we were shown some brief character intros, Neili’s concept art, clips of test footage, and much more. Jason Biggs (Leonardo), Rob Paulsen (Donatello), Sean Astin (Raphael), Greg Cipes (Michaelangelo), Mae Whitman (April O’Neil), Hoon Lee (Splinter), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Shredder) were all on hand to share their experiences and individual love for the property. Hit the jump for more details.

First off, let’s get the release date out of the way. September 29th, 2012 is the day to mark on your calendar, though they weren’t set to reveal the show time. Second, I think the blend of animation is quite interesting. Neili is clearly a fan of animation, anime, and comics. This can be seen in dramatic moments of levity when a character’s face will suddenly be super-imposed on a blank background with a flat, dramatically large facial expression. He loves the classic bandaged aesthetics but he also enjoyed being ...

In the wake of Paramount's endless push backs and delays regarding its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (now simple called Ninja Turtles), Nickelodeon has quietly developed a new (and improved?) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series set to air this fall.

The first official trailer for the series begins, naturally, at the beginning - four turtles! an accident! a secret! "They were trailed for battle," the narrator recounts solemnly, "and now, when their city is under siege, the fate of humanity is in their hands" (or feet, perhaps). The original TMNT cartoon was one of my absolutely favorites as a kid, and it seems Nickelodeon may be doing a decent job of resurrecting the franchise for a new generation of fans. To see the trailer, hit the jump.

Trailer via EW.

Despite the lack of Splinter and April in the trailer, we do get a short shot of Shredder, who seems legitimately menacing.

The series' executive producer Ciro Neili spoke to EW recently and said of this iteration of the Turtles' story:
“I tried to boil it down and get to really what’s at the core of it, which is this sense of brothers and camaraderie. Everything grew out of that. It’s like a band. You want a Beatles thing.”
That Beatles analogy weirdly works (think about it). But Neili, please - never use "turtles" and "boil" in the same thought.

The trailer will premiere on Nick.com tomorrow and Nickelodeon this coming Saturday.

By now my reaction to a major Paramount film being pushed back to address major issues has become “classic Paramount!” After pushing G.I. Joe: Retaliation back nine months in order to post-convert the film to 3D and revive Channing Tatum and then hiring Damon Lindelof to rewrite the Brad Pitt-fronted zombie pic World War Z ahead of massive reshoots and production problems, Paramount has now delayed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (retitled Ninja Turtles) in order to address script issues. Originally slated for release in December 2013, the Michael Bay-produced reboot has now been pushed to May 16th, 2014 assuming these issues can be resolved. Hit the jump for more.

Fans have been watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot closely throughout its development, mainly because Michael Bay is involved. Wrath of the Titans director Jonathan Liebesman is onboard to direct, and recent comments from Bay hinting at an origin story change for the beloved characters was not exactly met with a warm reception. Liebesman cleared things up a bit by promising that they’re being faithful to the origin story while expanding the mythology with TMNT comics co-creator Kevin Eastman’s involvement.

Things were on track to start filming later this year with a possible motion-capture element, but THR reports that Paramount has shut pre-production down. The studio has informed those prepping the film that the work stoppage is “indefinite,” though another source tells THR that the movie has simply been pushed 10 weeks. Whatever the case, the issue is said to be the ...
