When The Expendables dropped last year, many felt that—while Sylvester Stallone’s heart was in the right placed—the film failed to live up to expectations (there’s also a strong, vocal minority that love the film, and we should all just go ahead and assume now that they’re going to take issue with this statement). Surprisingly enough, one of these people seems to be…Sylvester Stallone, who introduces the new Director’s Cut of The Expendables by saying, “I liked the theatrical version, but I love this (version)”. Have improvements been made? Is the film really and truly better? And how can one tell, if one immediately forgot the first film almost as soon as they’d seen it? Find out in my review of The Expendables: Director’s Cut, after the jump.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for The Expendables 2, directed by Simon West (The Mechanic). It’s a teaser that doesn’t get into plot, or even showcase any major action. At this early stage, with over 9 months to go until the August 17 release, the film is selling itself entirely on the reputation of the cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
If you are interested in the plot, the studio also unveiled the first official synopsis for The Expendables 2 along with a new promo poster. See it all after the jump.

Production on The Expendables 2 is currently underway, and we’ve got some new images from the set. They give us our first look at Jean-Claude Van Damme, as well as glimpses of Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Terry Crews, and more. The cast reads like a Who’s Who of badassness (as evidenced by the recent set photos of the one and only Chuck Norris), with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Jason Statham among the actors involved in the action pic, as well as newcomer Liam Hemsworth. Hit the jump to check out the images. The Expendables 2 opens August 17th, 2012.

While the list of names rumored to be appearing/approached to appear in the action sequel The Expendables 2 reads like a Who’s Who of ass-kicking, it’s been a bit of a guessing game as to who will actually show up in the finished film. A few weeks ago we got a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Sylvester Stallone on set, and today we’ve got another set photo featuring notorious roundhouse-kicker Chuck Norris, as well as Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren. That leaves John Travolta and Donnie Yen as currently unconfirmed rumored additions. We recently reported that Mickey Rourke won’t be returning for the sequel.
Hit the jump to check out the set photo. The film also stars Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Jean Claude Van Damme. The Expendables 2 opens August 17th, 2012.

Sylvester Stallone has had one of the strangest careers in cinema history. He’s had hit films for the last four decades. But he’s also had very public failures. The ups and downs are intense, as he made his way through being an action star to doing bad comedy to going direct to video, to his current resurgence (which came ten years after he tried to reinvent himself in Copland). Basically, he’s happy to coast and do garbage like Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot if the money’s good. But between Rambo and Rocky Balboa, Stallone was one the comeback trail, and with The Expendables, Stallone had his biggest hit in ages. By getting together such action stalwarts as Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lungren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Eric Roberts, and Terry Crews, he had a multi-generational, multi-ethnic man on a mission movie. My review of The Expendables on Blu-ray follows after the jump.

In the comedy Lottery Ticket, Kevin Carson (Bow Wow) is a young man living in the projects and working at a local Foot Locker, until he wins $370 million in the lottery, causing everyone to suddenly want a piece of him. Kevin quickly learns that his longtime friends Benny (Brandon T. Jackson) and Stacie (Naturi Naughton), his grandmother (Loretta Devine) and the reclusive Mr. Washington (Ice Cube) may be the only ones with his best interests at heart.
During a recent press conference for the film, co-stars Bow Wow, Brandon T. Jackson, Naturi Naughton, Ice Cube and Terry Crews talked about how much fun they had making Lottery Ticket together, what they would do if they won $370 million and how money can change people. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

For a film that trades fantastical B-movie fun for deadly seriousness, The Expendables needs a reality check. It thinks that the actors have on-screen chemistry. They don’t. It thinks that the script has plenty of witty banter. It doesn’t. It thinks that there’s thought-provoking pathos in the story. There isn’t. At best, The Expendables is misguided and at worst, it’s an over-confident mess that fumbles completely except for a few action beats.

With Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables getting released August 13, Lionsgate has sent over 3 clips from the action flick that stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hit the jump to check them out:

Comic-Con got a huge jolt of testosterone early Thursday evening as Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News moderated The Expendables panel featuring Terry Crews, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis (for a moment) and writer/director/star Sylvester Stallone. We got a trailer, a few new clips, a ton of laughs and plenty of curing and fun stories. Hit the jump for all the details.

Lionsgate has released a new Behind the Scenes Featurette on the making of The Expendables. The featurette is the first in a five-part series, with a new one premiering every Thursday from now till release.
This first one focuses on filming a hostage scene and the video has interviews with a lot of the crew and even Harry Knowles from AICN on set while they were filming. What’s well done about the 4 minute clip is the way it mixes in behind the scenes footage with final movie footage (including a shot with a lot of blood!). If you’re looking forward to The Expendables, this clip is only going to get you more excited. Hit the jump to check it out.

If you’re reading this right now, you’re probably on the internet. If you’re on the internet you’re probably aware of the vast amount of porn that’s on the internet. Writer/director George Gallo’s Middle Men tells the based on a true story of how the internet went from something that–in the words of Jack Harris (Luke Wilson)–“sucked” to being a place filled with naked people. In less than 2 and a half minutes, the trailer introduces a plethora of intriguing characters, a rags to riches montage, and a Notorious B.I.G. song. It’s a good trailer is what I’m saying.
The film co-stars Giovanni Ribisi, Terry Crews, Gabriel Macht, and James Caan. Hit the jump to see the trailer and read the synopsis.

Lionsgate has released a few new images and a “sneak peek” from Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables. Starring almost every action star on the planet, The Expendables gets released August 13 and I can’t wait. I heard they did a test screening not too long ago here in Los Angeles that went over huge. Apparently people were screaming in the theater and having a blast while watching it. Based on the first trailer and the new sneak peek…I believe it. Hit the jump to take a look:

The trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables has come online and it’s not good. It spoils the Schwarzenegger cameo (we knew he was in the film, but they didn’t have to show us his scene), every attempt it makes at humor falls flat, the part where it tries for soulful reflection is where the movie looks funny, and I think the picture has become clear that this is what happens when you make a movie based solely on servicing the fans of B-action pictures. Oh, and when they do all the actors’ last names at the end of the trailer they leave out Terry Crews. No one leaves out President Camacho. Also, Stallone looks like hell and should really lay off the human growth hormone.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer and the official synopsis. The Expendables hits theaters on August 13th.

Earlier today, while most of us were trying to enjoy our Saturday, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger filmed a scene together for “The Expendables”. If you’re a fan of action movies, this is like Christmas morning. While the scene in question is just a small part of the movie…who cares! These three action stars have never worked together and even if it’s just for a moment in the movie, this is another reason why “The Expendables” is going to be awesome. More after the jump.

The promo trailer for “The Expendables” has just landed online and before I comment, I know that this trailer isn’t intended for general audiences but for distributors to pick up the film. And how do you get those distributors to pick up this movie? Well, judging by this trailer, give people an action boner.
This trailer is completely schizophrenic where you feel like you’re seeing every major scene of the film and yet the story is incomprehensible. Jokes and out-of-context dialogue are interspersed between violence. But none of it seems good. I know this film was crafted out of a (possibly ironic) desire for the ultimate B-action movie but judging from this trailer, a trailer which didn’t have to go before the MPAA, this movie is going to disappoint a lot of genre fans. Hit the jump and see if you can get aroused by guns and explosions.
