Seth Rogen to Produce and Possibly Star in Disney Spy Comedy THE B TEAM

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: December 22nd, 2011 at 2:09 pm

Fresh off a supporting role in this year’s stellar 50/50, Seth Rogen is looking to expand his talents behind-the-scenes. While it’s well known that Rogen co-wrote Superbad, Pineapple Express, and The Green Hornet, the actor has also been credited as an executive producer on a number of Judd Apatow’s projects. He was a producer on 50/50, and now Variety reports that Rogen is coming on as a producer of an upcoming Disney property. The project is a spy comedy called The B Team that centers on a top secret agent’s tech support team and researchers who are tasked with rescuing him after he’s kidnapped. Rogen will produce with an eye towards starring, though it’s not specified what role he would take on.

Disney bought the pitch from Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman (Chasing Liberty), but with Rogen’s penchant for writing I wouldn’t be surprised if he made a pass on the script. Rogen will next be seen in My Mother’s Curse opposite Barbara Streisand, and is gearing up to make his directorial debut with Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse.

So to help promote the film, I recently interviewed Will Ferrell as a reporter for our partner website Omelete. As most of you already know, Collider and Omelete are partners. That’s why you see both of our logos in the movie clips and video interviews.

During our interview, Will talked about growing up with the show, how dirty the film is, hosting “Saturday Night Live”, “The B-Team”, and more. If you’re a fan of Will’s, you’ll love the interview.

Will Ferrell talks THE B-TEAM – His Next Film With Director Adam McKay

will_ferrell__2_.jpgAnyone who expected “Anchorman 2″ to be Will Ferrell’s next project with director Adam McKay (“Step Brothers”, “Talladega Nights”, “Anchorman”), I’m sorry to have to tell you…it’s still on the drawing board. However, while we all wait for more comedic greatness in the world of Ron Burgundy, Will tells me that he’s getting ready to work with Adam again this fall on a buddy cop movie called “The B-Team” – which Adam co-wrote with Chris Henchy.

The film is set to star Will and Mark Wahlberg as two desk cops that never get in on the action. Will’s character is fine with it, but Mark’s not. According to Will, “The B-Team” will be rated PG-13. Here’s what Will had to say:
