We’ve been reporting on all the networks’ new fall 2012 schedules over the past few days, with word from NBC, Fox, ABC, and CBS. Today The CW announced their new lineup, and quite a few shakeups are taking place. As far as returning series go, every single show has a new night and/or time except for The Vampire Diaries which remains on Thursday. Supernatural moves to Wednesdays, Hart of Dixie now airs on Tuesdays, and 90210 is set for Mondays. The highly anticipated Green Arrow TV show, Arrow, will air on Wednesdays at 8pm, while Beauty and the Beast will premiere on Thursdays after The Vampire Diaries.
One noticeable omission is the Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries. That show won’t debut until January 2013. Hit the jump to check out the full schedule for The CW.

On The CW drama series The Vampire Diaries, actress/singer/artist/filmmaker Persia White plays witch Abby Bennett, who abandoned her daughter, Bonnie (Kat Graham), more than 15 years ago. Even though an energy-draining spell essentially left her witchcraft dormant, Abby was still able to work with Bonnie to open the coffin containing Esther (Alice Evans), leading both to the binding of all her Original vampire children, and to a shocking event that will change Abby forever.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Persia White talked about how she came to be a part of The Vampire Diaries, how much she loves working with this cast, her reaction to finding out that her witch character was going to have a significant transition, how she prefers not knowing what’s coming next on the show, and how being a part of this has given her a better understanding of the vampire craze. She also talked about what draws her to other art forms, and why she enjoys making documentaries. Check out what she had to say after the jump, and please be aware that there are some spoilers:

With Alcatraz and Person of Interest both alive and kicking on Fox and CBS currently, it’s been a decent year for Bad Robot. Now the company already has its sights set on next season with Jon Favreau directing his Revolution pilot for NBC, a potential series about a group of people trying to survive “in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.” Now the pilot has at least one leading man as Vulture has learned that Breaking Bad villain Giancarlo Esposito has been cast. He’ll play a character named Lieutenant Neville, a southern gentleman and steely military man with a secret. Details on the rest of the pilot are slim but stay tuned as this project develops for more information.

With Smallville all wrapped up, the lovely Kristin Kreuk found herself without a show. But thankfully, her longtime home at The CW found something to keep her around on the small screen as Deadline reports she has been set to take the lead role in the network’s new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, a modern-day, procedural twist on the classic tale. In this new version, the potential series will follow Catherine (Kreuk) as a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.
We already know Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper (Brothers and Sisters) are attached as the head writers, to produce alongside Paul Witt, C. Anthony Thomas, Ron Koslow, and Bill Haber. Now Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don’t Say a Word) is slated to direct the pilot. The concept is intriguing, but using the Beauty and the Beast title seems like a bit of a gimmick since not much beyond the pilot will resemble the original series or the classic tale. The question remains as to who will play the Beast. Stay tuned.

After learning that The CW was replacing its superhero void left by the end of Smallville with Arrow, based on the DC Comics hero Green Arrow, we were left to wonder who would play the superhero. Well, wonder no more as THR has learned that Stephen Amell has been cast as the titular character. The series follows Amell as a playboy by day who becomes the Green Arrow at night who fights crime in the city with a special bow and arrow. Currently the series is ordered to pilot with Green Lantern duo Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim executive producing and writing the project, so hopefully it will actually make it to air. With Hung canceled, Amell’s schedule was left free and clear for what promises to be quite the opportunity, the same kind that turned Tom Welling into a star after playing Clark Kent on Smallville.

The CW wants to make sure its upcoming slate sounds familiar to you, with three new pilot orders based on established properties.

The CW already delved into DC Comics universe with their recently concluded Superman series Smallville, and writers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim brought Green Lantern to the big screen last summer. But now THR reports the network and writing duo are teaming up for Arrow, a small screen adaptation of Green Arrow which is currently in development. It’s not surprising considering the response to the hero’s appearance throughout a few seasons on Smallville was pretty strong, however, Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow in the series, is not attached to this new project. Berlanti and Guggenheim will executive produce the series which serves as the second superhero property in development for Berlanti Productions along with Booster Gold at SyFy. There’s a gaping hole for a fanboy presence on The CW now so we’ll have to wait and see if the Green Arrow can fill it.

A show like The Vampire Diaries is easily dismissed; there seems to be no reason at all to tune in unless you’re a fifteen-year-old girl who really loves Edward Cullen, or a cable-less vampire lover. The latter might even be a bit of a stretch. What you’d be missing while under that assumption, however, is one of the most consistently good shows on network TV. Though the premise might be a little hard to swallow at first – especially if you’re not the target demographic of anything else the CW puts out – the show is worth the effort. Hidden behind a trite storyline is solid writing, intriguing storytelling, and one of the most frivolously addictive shows on air right now. Continuing to make themselves the dominant force in streaming etnertainment to users, Netflix, Warner Bros. Television Group and CBS Corporation have just signed a four-year deal that will bring all prior seasons of The CW’s current scripted series and future shows to Netflix. That means all previous programming, and anything between now and the 2014-2015 season will be made available to watch instantly by Netflix users. The deal includes all drama series on the network’s 2011 schedule like Ringer, Hart of Dixie, The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatrual, Nikita and One Tree Hill.
All the previous season of The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Nikita will be available on October 15th while episodes of Supernatural and 90210 won’t arrive until January 2012. As for all the episodes airing on The CW this season, they will be made available in the fall of 2012, before the next season starts. However, any new series that appear on The CW after this point, will be made available through a commensurate window during that current season. Good news for anyone who likes them some programming from The CW and those who are eager to see Netflix continue to dominate the online entertainment market. It sounds like Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to the network that made her a star with Buffy the Vampire Slayer has paid off with The CW announcing that a full season for three of their new drama series including Ringer as well as Kevin Williamson’s Secret Circle and Josh Schwartz’s Hart of Dixie starring Rachel Bilson. Honestly, I’m surprised that The CW is ordering full seasons for all of these new shows, but apparently they’ve all sat well on the ratings and seem to be hitting all the right demographics to stay alive. Personally, none of the shows tickled my fancy to add to my line-up every week, but surely fans will be happy to hear about the networks faith in each of these new series. Since most of the programming on The CW isn’t really my cup of tea, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying the hell out of Reaper a few years back. Unfortunately, the series was shortlived with only two seasons before cancellation, but the creators of that series, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters are back with two new series at two different networks. The first is Notorious, a character-based police procedural (because we don’t have enough of those) which follows an attention-loving LAPD detective who has become famous after solving a murder that made national headlines. Thriving in the spotlight and not bothered by the fact that his personal life is fodder for TMZ, he tries to solve the city’s most high-profile cases. Sounds like there’s a bit of comedy to be had in this series, but the TV duo has plenty of dramatic procedural experience since they both worked for five season on Law & Order: SVU and even became co-executive producers of that series.

In this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, entitled “The End of the Affair,” family ties will be revealed, relationships will be explained and familiar faces will return, and it’s only the third episode into Season 3. Collider was one of a handful of outlets invited over to The CW offices to view the episode and all of its edge-of-your-seat moments a day early, and see what hints we could get executive producer/writer Julie Plec to tease, in regard to the upcoming season.
While she didn’t give any specifics or major reveals, Julie Plec did talk about how this episode is just the beginning of what viewers will see of the Originals’ history and origin, what these revelations will do to the relationship between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), that the chemistry between Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be illuminated more as a result, what the true agenda of the ghosts visiting Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is, when Bonnie (Katerina Graham) will return, how things will develop between Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino), and that viewers should always dread character deaths. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

From executive producer Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, Chuck, The O.C.), the new CW drama series Hart of Dixie, premiering on September 26th, follows New York City doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) as she inherits a small local medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama and must learn to adjust to life in a small Southern town. But, Southern hospitality isn’t always so hospitable, as evidenced by the reaction of Brick Breeland (guest star Tim Matheson), the other doctor in town, and his normally sweet southern belle daughter Lemon (Jaime King), whose disposition turns sour upon meeting Zoe.
During an interview about her role on the new show, actress Jaime King talked about what made her decide to try television, how she enjoys the complexity of her character, and how she feels the big city and small town aspects of this show will help it appeal to everyone. She also talked about how she recently directed her first feature, Latch Key (which she also wrote), in her hometown of Omaha Nebraska. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

As part of the TCA Press Tour presentation for The CW, President Mark Pedowitz took some time to talk about returning faces for the Fall, increased episode orders for a number of their already-established shows, the interest in developing other DC Comics properties now that Smallville has ended, and the possibility of remakes and re-boots of previous projects.
