With the wealth of The Dark Knight Rises material that’s come out over the past few months, it’s hard to keep track of it all. That’s why we went back through our posts and put together this massive image gallery for you. Now you can enjoy all The Dark Knight Rises images and posters gathered all in one convenient location. Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Liam Neeson. It opens in IMAX on July 20th. Hit the jump to check out the gallery.

In addition to the new banner posters for The Dark Knight Rises, we’ve stumbled across this new secret poster featuring Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). It’s a pretty slick little piece which reminds us that, while Bane (Tom Hardy) might be getting all of the attention as of late, both audiences and Batman (Christian Bale) shouldn’t forget about the feline femme fatale. Director Christopher Nolan’s closing piece to his Batman trilogy also stars Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Liam Neeson. The film opens July 20th. Hit the jump to see the new poster.

Since releasing the first images of Tom Hardy as Bane, fans of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises started asking, “What’s up with that mask?” A new article in Rolling Stone seems to have answered the question along with a point-by-point graphic detailing just why the muscle-bound madman needs a mask at all (and the answer provides a key plot point). On the other side of the spectrum is the also-masked vigilante known as Batman (Christian Bale), and in this new wanted poster supposedly released by Warner Bros., we see exactly what the Caped Crusader is accused of doing.
The Dark Knight Rises also stars Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman and Liam Neeson. Look for the bat to bow on July 20th. Hit the jump to check out the images.
Update: Thanks to a number of readers emails, we’ve been informed the Wanted Poster was part of the earlier viral marketing campaign.

Last week, we reported on a so-called “Tumbler Tour” that’s taking place throughout this summer. Warner Bros. is driving the Tumbler (aka the Batmobile) and the Bat-Pod (aka that thing Catwoman rides) across the country and stopping at a number of cities along the way in anticipation of the July 20th release of The Dark Knight Rises. The second stop on the Tumbler Tour just so happened to be my acceptable lovely hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a friend of mine sent over a number of images of said Batman vehicles.
We’ve got some pretty close-up looks of both modes of Mr. Wayne’s transportation, so hit the jump to take a look. If you plan on making the trek to San Diego this year for Comic-Con, you’ll be able to check out the Tumbler and Bat-Pod yourself as the tour is planning a stop at the Nerd Fest 2012.

After surviving the onslaught of The Avengers marketing machine over the last few months, we now have about two months of The Dark Knight Rises madness to look forward to. We brought you some new images recently and now a new TV spot for Christopher Nolan’s epic conclusion to his Batman trilogy has hit the airwaves. It’s a promo for the NBA playoffs (similar to this Brave spot for the NFL draft) and features cuts of the Caped Crusader between such current sports phenoms as Meadowlark Lemon and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (they still play, right?).
The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine, opens July 20th. Hit the jump to check out the commercial.

It’s another one for the record books. Along with the prize for highest first weekend in domestic history, The Avengers has now earned the highest second weekend with an estimated $103.1 million from 4,349 locations. That crushes Avatar’s former sophomore record of $75.6 million and represents a decline of just 50% – a better hold than The Dark Knight managed in its second frame. Even more exciting for Disney and Marvel, the worldwide estimate for The Avengers has now topped One Billion. Unfortunately, good news for The Avengers means not-so-good news for Dark Shadows. The latest collaboration of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp earned an estimated $28.8 million from 3,755 locations, or a bit less than The Avengers made on Friday alone.
| Title | Weekend | Total | |
| 1 | The Avengers | $103,160,000 | $373.1 |
| 2 | Dark Shadows | $28,800,000 | $28.8 |
| 3 | Think Like A Man | $6,300,000 | $81.9 |
| 4 | The Hunger Games | $4,300,000 | $387 |
| 5 | The Lucky One | $4,055,000 | $53.7 |
| 6 | Pirates! Band of Misfits | $3,200,000 | $21.1 |
| 7 | The Five-Year Engagement | $3,095,000 | $24.4 |
| 8 | Best Exotic Marigold Hotel | $2,650,000 | $3.7 |
| 9 | Chimpanzee | $1,624,000 | $25.5 |
| 10 | Girl in Progress | $1,350,000 | $1.35 |

With this weekend’s domestic release of some little flick called The Avengers, the summer movie season is officially off and running. Although it’s easy for the comic book fan in me to rank The Avengers, The Amazing-Spider Man, and The Dark Knight Rises as my top three most anticipated summer pics, I thought it might be a nice exercise to quickly list what else the Summer of 2012 is offering that will likely tickle my moviegoing fancy. That said, because absolutely no one asked my opinion, here are five of my other most anticipated summer films (listed in chronological order by release date): Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, Steven Soderbergh‘s Magic Mike, Seth MacFarlane‘s feature debut Ted, Fernando Meirelles‘ 360, and John Hillcoat‘s Lawless. As always, I’d love to hear from you, the reader, about what you’re looking forward to seeing on the big screen in the coming months. By all means, use the comments section liberally.
In this week’s Top 5 you’ll find a ton of interviews, Matt’s review, and other ancillary bits for the aforementioned The Avengers, Steve’s coverage from his visit to the Istanbul set of Skyfall, the third trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, a new trailer, images, and posters for The Amazing Spider-Man, and the first full-length trailer for The Expendables 2. A quick recap and link to each ensues after the jump.

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, which they are billing as “the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.” It reveals our best look yet at Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy), plus tons of destruction and mayhem. It’s amazing. Just get yourself after the jump already and watch it.
Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine also star. The Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20.

With Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises set for release in just a few months, it seems like the film is nearing the finish line, with reports that it’s been given a PG-13 rating from the MPAA. As most of you remember, The Dark Knight was rated PG-13, so it’s no surprise the sequel would also have this rating. To those wondering how Nolan could be close to completion, you’ve got to factor in the release schedule for The Dark Knight Rises. Unlike some films that get released in North America and then months later around the world, Warner Bros. has set up a massive worldwide campaign with 35 territories getting the film between July 19 and July 28, including the United States, Japan, Australia, Europe and every major country in between. While a lot of box office records have been broken in the last year, I think it’s safe to assume The Dark Knight Rises is going to take them all back.
And for those that can’t get enough Dark Knight Rises news, while I posted screengrabs of the last trailer so you could see the best images frame by frame, you can now watch it another way: super slow motion. Even though the trailer has been dissected to death by fans, perhaps watching it in slow motion will offer up a few new clues. Finally, over in Hong Kong, the film has started advertising by plastering the first teaser poster across a bus. Hit the jump for more.

Sure, the whole Google Maps 8-bit for NES thing might haven been an April Fool’s gag, but there’s something wonderfully timeless about the 8-bit era, when there was a limited color palette and characters moved around realms without bending their knees. Not only is it still quite fun to pop in a Nintendo cartridge (in my case, with a Game Genie still attached), but 8-bit gaming has evolved into an art form and artist Eric Palmer is embracing it, using the 8-bit style to put a new spin on some iconic films. Some examples are Jurassic Park, 300, Harry Potter, Office Space, Star Wars and The Matrix. Hit the jump to check them out.

In an attempt to avoid being overshadowed by The Avengers announcement from their superheroic counterparts at Marvel, word has it that Warner Bros. execs have seen a rough cut of The Dark Knight Rises, screened by Christopher Nolan. Since the movie doesn’t officially open until July 20th, that should give the director plenty of time to tweak things (say, for example, if certain characters’ voices aren’t clear enough). Heat Vision reports that studio heads in attendance included film chief Jeff Robinov and production president Greg Silverman. With The Dark Knight Rises opening so soon after Comic-Con (although Nolan has yet to attend), it would be a big surprise if there weren’t some sort of presence there this year.
The Dark Knight rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. Hit the jump for the synopsis and trailer.

Christopher Nolan’s longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister is set to make his directorial debut. Having recently wrapped on The Dark Knight Rises with Nolan, the Oscar-winning cinematographer will next direct an untitled screenplay from newcomer Jack Paglen. The film will be financed and produced through Alcon Entertainment, who is keeping the logline under wraps for the moment. Pre-production is expected to start immediately while principal photography will begin early this fall. Pfister is best known for his collaborations with Nolan since the pair has worked together on seven films since 1999. His track record includes four Oscar nominations and one win for Best Achievement in Cinematography for Inception. Although this film marks Pfister’s feature directorial debut, he has been directing commercials for a number of years. Hit the jump for a look at his work throughout the years.

With news on The Dark Knight Rises relatively slow at the moment, we’ve scoured the net to see what Batman fans and related entities are up to. Recently we brought you images of some pretty realistic toys for The Dark Knight Rises. Now we have some hi-res shots of those toys for you to check out. Though for some people, that’s not enough. Some people have to make their own figures . And some go a step further and craft their own credit sequence to the movie itself. Bat-fan Dogan Can Gundogdu has crafted a meticulous opening sequence for The Dark Knight Rises that gives us a taste of what the film would look like if David Fincher was the director. Hit the jump to check out the toys and the credits.

We’re about six months away from the fanatically anticipated final act in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Have your tickets yet or did you miss out? In the meantime, we have a quick look at Batman (Christian Bale) in his new Batsuit, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly’s annual forecast issue. We’ve also got some choice quotes from Nolan about his thoughts on the final film and the trilogy overall. We’ll save the somewhat spoilery comments for after the jump, but for now, here’s what Bale had to say about rising to the demands of Batman’s adoring public on this last film:
“I can tell you the truth because I’m done with it: I felt immense pressure. And I think it’s a good pressure, because you owe it to the films — and the people’s expectations — to make great work.”
The Dark Knight Rises also stars Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine and opens July 20, 2012. Hit the jump for more.

I’m writing to you this afternoon in the late stages of a full-on nostalgia buzz. The reason? Last night, I had the pleasure of taking in a performance of the Beauty and the Beast musical at St. Louis’ beautiful The Fabulous Fox theatre. Thanks to Belle’s “Little Town”, “Something There”, and the Academy Award-winning title track, I’m still giddy and in complete tune with my five-year old self nearly 24 hours after the fact. Now, if I could just get my hands on that old Proton Pack I used to lug around at all times, my return trip to the ’90s would be complete…
