Ken Jeong (Community) spent his time in The Hangover as a mean, naked gambler that hit so hard; he returned in The Hangover Part II, but [spoiler alert] spent the better part of the movie presumably dead.  In The Hangover Part III, Jeong’s role will be substantially more involved.  Plot details are being kept under wraps at the moment, but we do know that the story takes place in Tijuana and may include breaking Alan (Zach Galifianakis) out of a mental institution.  Jeong’s schedule is being massaged to avoid conflicts with Community, which shoots this August, while The Hangover Part III is set to begin in SeptemberTHR also reports that the threequel will feature the return of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and director Todd Phillips.

Screenwriter Scot Armstrong interview THE HANGOVER PART 2 slice

When you think of Todd Phillips’ filmography, there’s a few key names that come to mind:  Will Ferrell (who’s starred or cameo’d in a good number of Phillips’ films) for instance, or Juliette Lewis (who appeared in Old School and Due Date), or Seann William Scott (who cameo’d in Old School and starred in School For Scoundrels).  Add another name to that list:  Scot Armstrong, who wrote Old School, Road Trip, School For Scoundrels, and this week’s The Hangover Part Two for the director.  We interviewed Armstrong prior to the release of the Hangover sequel, and he had some interesting things to say about sequels, dark comedy, the chances for a Hangover Part Three, and he also talked about his directorial debut Road to Nardo (being written by Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller). Read on for the interview, after the jump…

Exclusive: Zach Galifianakis Talks HANGOVER 2, BETWEEN TWO FERNS, TIM AND ERIC’S BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE, Favorite Movies, More

by     Posted 2 years, 26 days ago

With director Todd Phillips The Hangover Part II opening this weekend, I recently got to participate in a press conference with Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong and Phillips in Los Angeles.  Shortly after the press conference ended, I got to speak with Galifianakis in a one on one setting.

While our conversation was only ten minutes, we talked about everything from what are his favorite movies to working with babies and smoking monkeys.   In addition, we talked about his feelings on making a sequel to the biggest R rated comedy of all time, his thoughts on doing Hangover 3, what’s up with Between Two Ferns, Bored to Death, The Muppets, Southern Rivals, and Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.  Hit the jump to either read or listen to our conversation.

With director Todd Phillips The Hangover Part II opening this weekend, I recently participated in a press conference with Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong and Phillips in Los Angeles.  As most of you know, the sequel puts the guys in Thailand for Stu’s wedding and they’re again forced to try and figure out what happened the night before.

During the press conference, the group talked about the challenges of filming in Thailand, where to go in Bangkok, what were they able to bring to their characters in the sequel, how did Ang Lee’s son end up in the movie (he plays an important part), why did they use so much Billy Joel music, what’s the status of a third Hangover movie, and a lot more.  Hit the jump either listen to the audio or read the transcript.

Director Todd Phillips Talks THE HANGOVER PART 3; Says It Would be the Finale

With the success of the first Hangover movie and the tracking for The Hangover Part 2 looking like it’s going to open huge, it’s no surprise at today’s Hangover 2 press conference that the cast and filmmakers would be asked about a third movie.  While I thought director Todd Phillips would try to avoid the question and say something to deflect from the possibility, he actually revealed that he has an idea for a third movie and “it’s certainly not in the same template you’ve seen these movies.”  He went on to say “the third would very much a finale and an ending.”  More after the jump.

THE HANGOVER PART II On Set Interview with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Director Todd Phillips

For the set visit to The Hangover Part II, secrecy was critical. What we saw we were told not to write about until now, and what we were told was minimal. Though now the general premise and storyline has been outed by the trailer, when we came on all that was known was that the boys would be going to the Far East for their adventures.

When we went to the Warner Brothers lot, it was dressed as a shitty Thai apartment, where Ed Helms was running around in his underwear with a tattoo on his face, Zach Galifianakis had a shaved head, and Bradley Cooper was wrestling with a monkey. Even that was deemed too much new information. Check after the jump for more.

Justin Bartha On Set Interview THE HANGOVER PART II

For The Hangover Justin Bartha’s Doug was the impetus for the story, but he spent much of the movie sidelined as his disappearance fueled the story. For the sequel, The Hangover Part II, Bartha returns as Doug and from his own words has a bit more to do this time out. We got a chance to talk to him as the movie was filming – he wasn’t on set the day we visited, and he talked about his character in the film, The Hangover’s cultural resonance and what it’s like to return to a character. Check out our interview after the jump.

New Banner for THE HANGOVER PART II

With its May 26th release quickly approaching, Warner Bros. has released a new promotional banner for The Hangover Part II. While I’ve been known to be somewhat critical of the film’s trailer and television spots, I have to say that I enjoy any promotional materials that play up both Ken Jeong and the monkey (not trying to be disrespectful, I truly don’t know his name). Considering both are included here, this new banner is okay in my book.

4 New Television Spots for THE HANGOVER PART II

Warner Bros. has released four new television spots for The Hangover Part II. Although they don’t feature a ton of new footage from the film, it should be enough to whet the appetite of fans. Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to checking out the film in theaters, I’m just still worried by the amount of self-referential material crammed into both these spots and the trailer. Honestly, Warner Bros. could save moviegoers a ton of time if they would just use the tagline “For Fans of The Hangover.”

Hit the jump to check out each of the four spots. Directed by Todd Phillips, The Hangover Part II stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Jamie Chung, and Ken Jeong. The film hits theaters on May 26th.

6 Character Posters for THE HANGOVER PART 2

Warner Bros. has released six character posters for director Todd Phillip’s The Hangover Part II.  If you remember the character posters from the first Hangover movie, these are going to look very familiar.  Saying that, if you ran a marketing campaign and your movie was the highest grossing R Rated film in history, I’d probably run the same campaign as well.  After all, I wouldn’t want to be the one to fuck it up.

While all the posters are good, the monkey poster that says “we love to party” is definitely the best.  It reminds me of the chicken and tiger posters from the first movie.  This is a good thing.  Hit the jump for the posters, click here for the trailer, and here’s all our Hangover coverage.  The Hangover Part II gets released May 26.

New Trailer for THE HANGOVER PART II

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Hangover Part II. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this new trailer. It gives a solid sense of setting, does a good job of setting up the obstacles without giving too much away, and makes use of a track from the new Kanye album (always a plus, for me). Nevertheless, I can’t help but feel as if the trailer is a little too self-referential to the original (i.e. Alan’s love of terrible toasts and penis jokes, and Stu’s fear of once again breaking his teeth). Just my opinion, though.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  Directed by Todd Phillips, The Hangover Part II stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike Tyson, Justin Bartha, and Ken Jeong.  The film opens May 26th.

The release of one of the most anticipated comedies of the year, The Hangover Part II is fast approaching, and a new image from the film has just hit the web. As we reported last month, the first teaser trailer for The Hangover Part II was to be expected sometime this month. It now looks like the trailer will be hitting the web this week. ET Set Visit THE HANGOVER PART II

by     Posted 2 years, 130 days ago

The good news: there’s new behind the scenes footage/info from the set of The Hangover Part II. The bad news: it comes in the form of an extra splashy Entertainment Tonight piece. However, the clip is definitely worth checking out, if only for the first footage of Ken Jeong in the film. The Hangover Part II features the gang from the first flick heading over to Bangkok for Stu’s wedding (not to Heather Graham). If you missed it, be sure to check out the latest (fantastic) images from the film here. The Hangover Part II hits theaters on May 26th. Hit the jump to watch ET’s set visit.
