Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for director Gore Verbinski’s upcoming film The Lone Ranger.  The story focuses on John Reid (Armie Hammer) surviving an attack, being saved by Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp), and the two teaming up to fight injustice.  This new featurette chronicles the heavy location-based production, as we see the enormous lengths to which Verbinski went in order to make the majority of The Lone Ranger practically.  In fact, this featurette shows Depp falling completely off of his horse mid-stride during a stunt, and we get a look at the actor’s bruising that occurred as a result.

Hit the jump to watch the featurette.  The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter.  The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd.

26 New Images from THE LONE RANGER Starring Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, and Helena Bonham Carter

Disney has released a slew of new images from director Gore Verbinski’s new film The Lone Ranger.  The story focuses on John Reid (Armie Hammer) surviving an attack, being saved by Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp), and the two teaming up to fight injustice.  As a big fan of Verbinski’s work on the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s put together for Lone Ranger.  These new images tease the film’s large cast of characters as well as the principal partnership between the titular Ranger and Tonto, and it should be fun to see how the duo’s relationship develops over the course of the film.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter.  The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd.

Disney has released a new featurette for The Lone Ranger.  The story focuses on John Reid (Armie Hammer) surviving an attack, being saved by Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp), and the two teaming up to fight injustice.  The new featurette focuses on the “cowboy bootcamp” where Hammer and co-star Ruth Wilson had to learn how to ride horses and lasso chairs.  The former might be more important than the latter.  Depp is nowhere to be seen, so either he went to Native American bootcamp, or innately knows how to ride a horse and throw a loop of rope over furniture.

Armie Hammer Performs a Death-Defying Stunt in New Featurette for THE LONE RANGER

Disney has released a new featurette for the upcoming feature The Lone Ranger, and it’s an excellent example of why I’m looking forward to the film.  In this featurette, we see Armie Hammer performing a pretty hairy-looking stunt that involves standing atop a towering platform in the middle of the Utah desert, with only a harness keeping him from plummeting to the bottom of a canyon.  Most directors would shoot this sequence on a soundstage with plenty of green screen, but The Lone Ranger’s Gore Verbinski has shown a fantastic propensity for crazy practical stuntwork in his previous three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and I’m eager to see that same production value on the screen in The Lone Ranger.

Hit the jump to watch the featurette.  The film also stars Johnny Depp, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter.  The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd.

New Trailer for THE LONE RANGER Goes Heavy on the Action

With a little over a month away until the release of Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger, Disney has a released a new trailer.  The story focuses on John Reid (Armie Hammer) surviving an attack, being saved by Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp), and the two teaming up to fight injustice.  The new trailer speeds through the premise to get to the set pieces, and while I want to be excited for this movie, I just keep seeing Wild Wild West.  There’s hardly any of the humor that made Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies so enjoyable, or the strangeness that brought Rango to life.  Then again, if Disney wants to leave the best stuff out of the trailer, that’s fine by me.  I’d like to be surprised.

From director Shane Black, Iron Man 3 has certainly gotten the blockbuster movie season off to a pretty incredible start.  This time out, brilliant billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), aka Iron Man, faces a terrifying enemy, known as The Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley), whose reach knows no bounds, and he must rely on his own instincts to protect those that he loves.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor James Badge Dale, who plays Extremis agent and all-around bad-ass Eric Savin, talked about how he came to be a part of the film, having to read pages from a cop movie for his audition, due to secrecy, how he finally gut a full script after negotiations for the role were finished, what it means to him to get to be a part of the Iron Man franchise, how he viewed Savin, and what he wanted to bring to the character’s physicality.  He also talked about his roles in two more upcoming blockbusters, World War Z with Brad Pitt and The Lone Ranger with Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp, and the great experiences he had on each.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

New posters have been released from The Lone Ranger, Red 2, Star Trek Into Darkness, and I, Frankenstein.  Briefly, The Lone Ranger international poster has the Lone Ranger in danger of falling into Helena Bonham Carter‘s cleavage, the gang is all there in the Red 2 poster, the Enterprise is still seriously screwed in the latest poster for Star Trek Into Darkness, and then there’s the first poster for I, Frankenstein.  It’s a “motion poster”, but it will be holographic when you see it at your local theater.  It doesn’t have a close-up of Aaron Eckhart as the monster, but at a distance, he’s the most handsome iteration of the creature to date.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.  Red 2 opens July 19th.  Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on Wednesday and in 2D and 3D on Thursday.  I, Frankenstein opens in 3D on January 24th. [Update: The Star Trek Into Darkness poster was not approved by the studio, and we have removed it at their request.]

New Russian Trailer for THE LONE RANGER

A new Russian trailer for director Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger has made its way online.  The film focuses on the origin of Armie Hammer’s titular ranger and his relationship with the rather peculiar Tonto, played by Johnny Depp.  Much like the most recent domestic trailer, this Russian trailer highlights the film’s epic scale and Verbinski’s intricate set pieces, though it’s tough to parse out exactly what’s going on plotwise unless you speak Russian.  Also, you’ll learn that Helena Bonahm Carter’s character has something rather unique hidden up her skirt.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and if you missed any of Steve’s interviews from CinemaCon, watch his video conversations with Hammer, Verbinski, and producer Jerry BruckheimerThe Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.

Gore-Verbinski-Lone-Ranger-Rango-interview-slice

Yesterday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Walt Disney unveiled about twenty minutes of director Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger.  Since I was on the red carpet waiting for the cast and filmmakers, I missed the screening.  But talking to a few people that did see the footage, the consensus I heard was that it looked great and it was a lot better than all of them expected.  If you want to judge some of the movie for yourself…watch the brand new trailer that was released yesterday.

Shortly after walking off the stage, I landed a red carpet interview with Verbinski.  We talked about how he decided which footage to show the CinemaCon audience, how long his first cut ran, he reveals that he still doesn’t have a finished cut of the film and doesn’t know how long it’ll be, whether he will ever make another animated film, how much he loved doing Rango, and more.  In addition, I asked if his adaptation of the graphic novel Pyongyang is his next film.  Hit the jump to watch.

In case you didn’t get your fill of Disney’s The Lone Ranger yesterday from the new trailer debut and Steve’s interviews with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Armie Hammer, a new international trailer has now made its way online that offers up even more new footage.  This trailer focuses more on the fiim’s humor and, unsurprisingly, Johnny Depp (he’s a big draw overseas, you know).  Director Gore Verbinski has a real knack for crafting exciting and coherent action sequences, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he’s put together for this mega-budget Western.

Shortly before producer Jerry Bruckheimer hit the CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas to talk about The Lone Ranger (watch the new trailer here), I landed a short video interview with him on the red carpet backstage.  Since I knew my time would be very limited, I decided to ask the most important question first: What will it take to get Bad Boys 3 made!

In addition to asking about a Bad Boys sequel, he also discussed his reaction to seeing the finished cut of The Lone Ranger, how they decided which footage to show at CinemaCon, and the status of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and National Treasure 3.  He says they’re working on scripts for both, with a team of writers working on National Treasure 3 and Ted Elliot/Terry Rossio and Jeff Nathanson writing Pirates 5.  Hit the jump to watch.

New Trailer for THE LONE RANGER Starring Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, and Tom Wilkinson

Disney has released a new trailer for director Gore Verbinski‘s upcoming film The Lone Ranger.  This lengthy theatrical trailer begins by focusing on the origin of Armie Hammer‘s titular ranger and how his partnership with Johnny Depp‘s Tonto was forged, and from there we get quite a few looks at the many characters and set pieces that make up the action/adventure pic.  There are more than a few similarities to be found between this and Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, as this trailer showcases a massive scale, a kooky Depp performance, plenty of dirty, nefarious characters, and a possible supernatural element.  The visuals here look gorgeous, and while I’m not sold on Depp’s performance or even necessarily the story, I’m still eager to see what Verbinski has cooked up on a very big screen when this thing hits theaters.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.  The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter.  The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.

While I already posted the first posters for Spike Lee‘s Oldboy, James Wan‘s Insidious: Chapter 2, Robert Schwentke’s R.I.P.D., and a great display for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, I’ve still got a ton of pictures left to post.  However, rather than offering them up one article at a time, I’m grouping them all into one huge article.

While a lot of the posters you’ve previously seen, there are a few new things like the first logo for Paul Greengrass‘ Somali pirate pic Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks, the first poster for Where the Devil Hides, and the first display for Jimmy Hayward’s Free Birds starring Woody Harrelson, Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler.  In addition, you can also check out posters/displays for Star Trek Into Darkness, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, Despicable Me 2, Fast and Furious 6,  Man of Steel, The Lone Ranger, The Heat, Elysium, The East, The Wolverine, The Mortal Instruments, and a lot more.
