6 Gorgeous Mondo Posters from This Past Weekend’s Mondo Mystery Movies Series

Mondo has kicked off a series of screenings where the movie being shown hasn’t been announced.  Folks by a ticket, go to the screening, and then find out what they’re seeing and what awesome poster they, and only they, will be able to purchase.  Past screenings have included Akira and Jurassic Park, but this weekend Mondo pulled out all the stops by doing a six-movie marathon in Los Angeles.  Attendees were treated to screenings and posters for The Iron Giant (by far my favorite of the bunch), 28 Days Later, Hellraiser, Assault on Precinct 13, City of Lost Children, and The Mist.

I’ve included all the posters after the jump.  Be warned: seeing these may make you sad because we’ll never have them.  They won’t be sold on the Mondo store and unless you’re willing to pay a premium to eBay jerk-offs who don’t understand what’s special about these posters, you and I will never own them.

Matt’s Top 20 Films of the 2000s

I’ve really enjoyed the lists I’ve posted this week and I hope you have too.  I keep notes year-round on everything I feel is worth noting about particular movies so I don’t forget and I can compile it into what (hopefully) makes or an informative read.  However, this list I’ve been dreading.  Unlike the other lists, there’s no real recommendation at work here.  It’s a list designed to highlight mostly beloved and established films.  It’s also difficult to factor in films of 2008 and 2009 because I don’t know their staying power.  Finally, it’s a list that will ultimately please no one because there’s no way I can narrow the hundreds of great films that have come out over the last ten years into twenty that I’ve determined are better than all the rest.  So why am I doing it?  I have my reasons.  They’re not very good ones, but I have them.

The decade is ending, these films left an impact on me, and so I’ll call them out for their greatness and accept that there were plenty of other movies that could have filled in just as easily.

Director Frank Darabont Exclusive Video Interview – Explains Why FARRENHEIT 451 Hasn’t Been Made Yet

As writer/director of “The Shawshank Redemption”, Frank Darabont made one of my favorite films. If the movie ever comes on cable, I’m hooked. Doesn’t matter if I had plans, if I see any part of Andy Dufresne’s story on a screen, I’m in. So when I got the opportunity to talk with the great director backstage at this year’s Saturn Awards, I was extremely excited. Because even though I’ve spoken to many people in Hollywood, getting to talk with Frank Darabont was something I’d always wanted to do.

Anyway, after the jump is my extended conversation. We talked about “The Shawshank Redemption”, why he was at the Saturn Awards, why “Fahrenheit 451″ hasn’t been made yet, and he tells me what else he’s working on. It’s a great interview so take a look:
