In an online chat on the L.A. Times website HeroComplex, Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, answered a ton of fan submitted questions. While he didn’t reveal any major Marvel secrets, he did give updates on numerous Marvel projects that are in development. Some of the projects he talked about were Ant-Man, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Luke Cage, The Runaways, The Punisher, Deadpool, Thor, Captain America, Power Pack, and a few others. Here’s some of the bullet point highlights:

Over the past few months, we’ve been reporting quite regularly on Marvel’s Runaways movie (based on Brian K. Vaughan’s comic). The last time we wrote about it, Keke Palmer was in talks for one of the lead roles, director Peter Sollett (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist) was all set to helm the film, and production was going to begin early next year.
But according to Deadline, Marvel is hitting the brakes on the movie as Sollett has been “invited to take another film first.” According to the report, Marvel is busy with projects like The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and they’re also trying to finish up Thor and Captain America. Instead of trying to tackle too many projects at once, they’re going to take their time with Runaways and they’ve put the project on hold. More after the jump:

With director Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways finally getting released into more theaters tomorrow, it’s time to share the video interview I did with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Since we’ve been covering the film for months, I shouldn’t have to tell you anything about it. But for the three people that don’t know:
The Runaways is based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie and it tells the coming-of-age story of the teenage rock band The Runaways and how they came together in the mid 1970′s. Kristen Stewart stars as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie, and Michael Shannon stars as the über-eccentric Kim Fowley – the man who put The Runaways together.
During the interview Stewart and Fanning answered questions I got via Twitter (thanks to everyone who tweeted me questions) and if you watch time index 2:50 or so, you can hear what sounds like the wall falling and see their reactions. It’s actually a very relaxed and fun interview. Check it out after the jump:

To help promote The Runaways – which opens this Friday in limited release – we’ve been given a “Runaways Movie Lover Prize Pack” that one of our readers is going to win. Consisting of:

Apparation has provided us with on set video interviews with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning for The Runaways. While I generally don’t post studio provided interviews, with interest in The Runaways quite high, I thought you might like to see them. Also, they aren’t online yet.
What you need to know about the interviews is when a movie is filming, the studio will conduct interviews with the actors/crew for what’s called an EPK (electronic press kit). This is released to the press when the movie is getting ready to be released as a way to help promote the film. So if you’d like to see Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning talk about playing Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, hit the jump:

Last week we posted the final Runaways poster but it wasn’t in high resolution. Rather than update the article, for the people that missed it, hit the jump to check out the final poster in high res. And if you missed our previous coverage…here’s 8 high resolution images, here’s my review from Sundance, and here’s my interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning:

Right after I posted the new trailer for The Runaways, I was emailed the final poster for the movie. So rather than update the previous story, I’m posting it as a separate article. If you’ve seen the image of Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie leaning against a speaker with the two of them wearing sunglasses, you’ve seen the poster. It’s that same image with credits. Check it out after the jump:

The full trailer for The Runaways has finally been released. Starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, the trailer gives you a lot more of a look at the movie than the teaser trailer from back in January. I saw the film at Sundance and thought it was really good with fantastic performances from the lead cast. The movie is based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie and it tells the coming-of-age story of the teenage rock band The Runaways and how they came together in the mid 1970′s.
The movie is loaded with great music, and the trailer gives you a nice sample of what to expect. Watch it after the jump. And if you missed our previous coverage…here’s 8 high resolution images, here’s my review from Sundance, and here’s my interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. The Runaways gets released March 19.

With The Runaways set to be released on March 19, we’ve landed 6 new high resolution images from the film. Since we’ve been covering the film extensively the last few months, I’d like to think most of you know what it’s about. But for the three people just joining the party:
The Runaways follows two friends, Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself-and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.
Hit the jump to check out the new images. And if you missed our previous coverage…here’s 8 high resolution images, here’s my review from Sundance, and here’s my interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning:

The first TV spot for The Runaways has been released, and while the general buzz out of Sundance was positive (our own Steve Weintraub gave it high marks), I wasn’t quite sold on Dakota Fanning playing the infamous “sex kitten” Cherie Currie. While the trailer doesn’t quite sell me on her role alongside Kristen Stewart (a great selection for Joan Jett), it does go a long way in showing how far Fanning has come from the constantly-screaming role in War of the Worlds. Where the trailer really succeeds is in the depiction of the dreary and volatile world The Runaways inhabited and the rock music they produced. They rocked and blazed a trail for other all-female groups. Oh, and the film is rated R and releases on March 19, 2010.

Opening this Friday, in limited release, is The Yellow Handkerchief and it stars Kristen Stewart, William Hurt, Maria Bello and Eddie Redmayne. The film is about three strangers who take a road trip through post Katrina Louisiana. Along the way, they learn about one another and why they agreed to take a ride with a complete stranger.
To help promote the film, I recently got to participate in a roundtable interview with Kristen Stewart and Eddie Redmayne. Since I also did a TV interview with the two of them (I’ll be posting it Wednesday), I only transcribed what Stewart said. But if you’d like to hear what Stewart and Redmayne had to say, after the jump you can listen to the audio.
During the interview, Stewart talked about the roles she’s being offered, how she chooses what part she takes, The Runaways, Breaking Dawn, and a lot more:

Not all of the great film festivals are outside of the U.S. Even if you can’t book a ticket to Cannes or Berlin, you should be able to afford a flight out to Austin, Texas for SXSW, which is a festival for not only movies, but music and video games as well. Like the years before, the line-up for the 2010 SXSW Film Festival is the goods. Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass will open up the fest and then there will be other great-looking films throughout including The Duplass Brothers’ Cyrus, SNL’s hard-R adaptation of MacGruber, Tim Blake Nelson’s Leaves of Grass, and Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways, just to name a few. If you’re going to this year’s SXSW, let me know so I can steal your identity and go in your place.
The 2010 SXSW Film Festival will run from March 12-20. Check out the full list of films after the jump.

Box Office Mojo has some release date changes/announcements and we wanted to let you know about so you can be upset at a delay or pleased at the haste. First up, The Eagle of the Ninth, the sword-and-sandals flick starring Channing Tatum, has landed a specific release date of September 24th. It had previously been scheduled for “September 2009″.
Meanwhile, Fox is moving the family film Diary of a Wimpy Kid out of the April 2nd battlefield (when Clash of the Titans, Repo Men, and Why Did I get Married Too are scheduled to debut) and moving it to March 19th where it will square off against the rom-com The Bounty Hunter (starring Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston), the rock biopic The Runaways (starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning; click here to read Steve’s Sundance review of the film), and the medieval action flick Season of the Witch (starring Nicolas Cage, Nicolas Cage’s hairpiece, and Ron Perlman).
Finally, The Duplass Brothers’ Cyrus, starring John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei, and Jonah Hill, will hit theaters on July 9th where it will face Nimrod Antal’s Predators and the animated comedy Despicable Me.

With The Runaways premiering last night at the Sundance Film Festival, the cast, writer/director Floria Sigismondi, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie met with reporters yesterday afternoon. Thankfully, I was invited to participate in the roundtable interviews and after the jump you can either read or listen to the interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.
As I said in my review of The Runaways:
With fantastic performances from Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Michael Shannon, The Runaways delivered the goods at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie, The Runaways tells the coming-of-age story of the teenage rock band The Runaways and how they came together in the mid 1970′s. Kristen Stewart stars as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie, and Michael Shannon stars as the über-eccentric Kim Fowley – the man who put The Runaways together.
During the interview, Stewart and Fanning discussed making the film, really playing and singing their parts, being at Sundance, their kissing scene, and I asked Stewart about playing a part that features adult subject matter with her very large teenage fanbase. If you’re a fan of Kristen Stewart or Dakota Fanning, you’ll love the interview:

The other day we posted the teaser poster of writer/director Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways. Since many people love to take movie images and posters and make them screensavers or desktop backdrops, I’ve taken the super high resolution version of the poster and placed it after the jump.
And if you missed my review of the film, click here. And here’s eight super high res images from the film. Later tonight I’m posting my Sundance interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, so check back for that.
