Selena Gomez to Produce and Star in THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE

I am rooting for Selena Gomez to make that difficult transition from teen star to respected actress. I am fond of Wizards of Waverly Place, and see a talent there that is not shared by all her peers. It’s good to know, then, that Gomez is taking her career into her own hands. Deadline reports her production company July Moon optioned the Jandy Nelson novel The Sky Is Everywhere as a starring vehicle for the young actress. Gomez will play Lennie, a shy girl who reevaluates her life when her older sister dies: “Lennie soon finds herself torn between two boys: Bailey’s boyfriend, Toby, and Joe, the charming and musically gifted new boy in town.” Okay, so maybe this particular movie is not for me. But hopefully this sets her up for success so that, soon, she can move on from playing high schoolers and start paying dividends on my investment.
