The Tournament comes out of the gates guns blazing/blood splattering and for 90 minutes keeps that momentum going. It is one of those rare straight-to-DVD action films that avoids looking super low budget and lame, features a cast of pretty well-known actors and a contains a heaping helping of blood, bullets, as well as some awesome stunts. But is there some higher meaning to the film or any redeeming qualities outside of mindless violence?
Find out in my Blu-ray review, after the jump.

The hits from this year’s American Film Market (AFM)* keep on coming. The yearly festival where buyers and sellers do business to bring us all the movies we’ll see in the (hopefully) near future offers plenty of photos and full synopses. You may not have the fat cash to purchase these movies but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their first images and plot details. We’ve got the goods for Hellraiser, Earthbound (Starring Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal), Nowhere Boy, The Concert, The Tournament, and the animated films Escape from Planet Earth, Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil. Check it all out (plus the digital version of the promo poster for Scream 4) after the jump. Please note that I have copied down all synopsis exactly as they were originally written.

We just noticed, but the first trailer for Scott Manns “The Tournament” popped up on YouTube. Its got Russian watermarks and subtitles, so something tells me this thing shouldnt even be on the interweb. Either way, it looks like a fairly competent action flick starring Robert Carlyle, Ving Rhames, Ian Somerhalder and Kelly Hu blasting everything in their path to hell. Synopsis and trailer after the jump.
