In case you had any doubt that Lionsgate would make another Twilight movie past Breaking Dawn – Part 2 should author Stephanie Meyer decide to extend the series, Lionsgate exec Rob Friedman is here to alleviate your fears. Per THR, early this morning on a conference call Friedman said, “If [Meyer] wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her.” While the move is a no-brainer, it actually holds a bit more clout than Warner Bros. saying they’d make another Harry Potter if J.K. Rowling wrote another book. Rowling has been pretty steadfast in her conclusion of the series, but Meyer has been a bit more open-ended when it comes to more Twilight entries; the author previously stated that she originally envisioned Twilight as a longer series. Excitement! Yet another noteworthy release date is just around the corner for Twilight fans, as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 hits DVD shelves on February 10th. To build anticipation for the release (because it’s seriously lacking in anticipation), a behind-the-scenes clip from the DVD’s special features has been released. This isn’t just any behind-the-scenes featurette, as it takes fans on the set during the filming of the all-important wedding scene. Director Bill Condon describes his intention with the scene, and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart make out. It’s good times all around.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. Breaking Dawn – Part 1 hits DVD shelves February 11th. As we previously reported, select Target stores will be hosting the world premiere of a scene from Breaking Dawn – Part 2 during the midnight DVD release.

While that November release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 may seem like an eternity to die-hard fans, Summit has a treat in store for those heading out to pick up Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on DVD. In nearly 500 stores across the country, EW reports that Target will be hosting the world premiere of an exclusive scene from Breaking Dawn – Part 2 during the midnight DVD/Blu-ray release of Part 1. The clip will screen at 11pm at select stores as fans are waiting in line to pick up their copy of the first half of the finale.
This is a pretty ingenious decision on Target’s part, as the store ensures that most Twihards (and by golly there’s a lot of them) will choose Target as their Part 1 DVD source. In addition to the regular edition of the DVD/Blu-ray, Target will also be selling a Limited Collector’s Edition DVD that includes—deep breath—an authentic prop flower from Bella and Edward’s wedding scene. To find out if your local Target will be participating in the Part 2 clip premiere, click here. For the rest of you, The Twilight Saga comes to an end on November 16th.

If you’re looking for that perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other (or want to get lost in a fantasy world while spending Valentine’s Day alone), look no further than the Two-Disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Available on February 11th, you can take home the first half of the epic franchise finale which includes bonus features such as Bella and Edward’s Wedding Video, a six-part behind-the-scenes documentary and two fast forward features to get right to your favorite Edward and Jacob scenes.
Directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. Hit the jump for more on the special edition, including how fans can get themselves a discount.

Earlier this month, we mentioned that Lions Gate Entertainment’s The Hunger Games must make at least $100 million in order to justify the sequels being made. While there’s no doubt in my mind the movie will make that at the box office, the independent film company does have another source of income: merge with Summit Entertainment. The studio that’s behind the current Twilight series (which has earned over $1 billion through 4 of its 5 planned films) is reportedly in talks with Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. about a potential merger. The benefit to Lions Gate would be a much-needed cash infusion. This, in turn, could ensure the production of The Hunger Games sequels, which could pay dividends for Summit if successful. Hit the jump for more on the possibility of a merger.

I’m always surprised when I like anything Twilight-related. I’ve written at length on how I find the subtext of the movies repulsive even though I can understand how the text can be enjoyed as shallow fantasy. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 even managed to wrap me up in that fantasy for the first half of the movie. I’m not immune to big weddings and romantic honeymoons, and the first half is filled with happiness and humor. Sadly, the second half of Breaking Dawn transforms into the mopey and idiotic drama I endured for the past three movies, but at least this time the series reached some glorious so-bad-it’s-good moments.

While at the big Los Angeles press junket for Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, I got the opportunity to chat with Wyck Godfrey, producer of all the films in the very popular franchise. Even though they are still hard at work at putting the finishing touches on Part 2, he is now able to step back a bit and reflect on his involvement with the entire experience.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, Wyck Godfrey talked about the great moment of elation and happiness that he had when they finished shooting, what it’s been like to see the same dedicated fans supporting them throughout, what director Bill Condon brought to the franchise and the actors’ performances, the level of secrecy involved with keeping the design of Bella’s wedding dress a secret, that there is a longer honeymoon scene and a Volturi scene for the eventual DVD, the challenges in getting Bella and Edward’s child right, and how Bella being a vampire in Part 2 is going to blow people away. He also talked about his hit ABC television series Revenge, and the next feature films that he’s focusing on – the Biblical epic Goliath, starring Dwayne Johnson, and an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel, Safe Haven. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Even though the directors of the Twilight Saga films have been different for each installment, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has been a constant throughout. With the bulk of her work having ended more than a year ago, she’s already moved on to other writing and producing projects, but is also enjoying the opportunity to relive it for the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, done at the film’s press junket, Melissa Rosenberg talked about the overwhelming passion of the fans, how wonderful it was to collaborate with director Bill Condon for the final two-part installment, what went into the creative decision to turn Breaking Dawn into two films, how much fun she had as a guest at Bella and Edward’s wedding, and how much she loved getting to introduce all the new characters in Part 2, due out in November 2012. She also talked about the next feature she’s writing, called Earthseed (adapted from a young adult sci-fi novel about a strong, kick-ass young woman), and Afterthought, the NBC series that she’ll be producing. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

In the Twilight Saga films, actress Ashley Greene plays fan favorite character Alice Cullen, the typically upbeat supporter of Edward Cullen’s (Robert Pattinson) true love Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). In The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Pt. 1, Alice starts out as the ray of sunshine she’s become known for, planning Edward and Bella’s lavish wedding, only to become increasingly worried and frustrated, as Bella’s surprise pregnancy keeps her from being able to see the future.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, Ashley Greene talked about how the relationships that she formed will be what she remembers most strongly about the entire Twilight experience, how’s she learned to better cope with all of the attention that she receives as a result of the huge success of the films, the special gifts that she’s been given by the fans, what she thought of Alice’s dress and her dance at the wedding, and what it was like to explore another side of her character. She also talked about wanting to always do work that she’s passionate about, and how she’ll shoot Olivia Twisted, a dark and gritty action film that is a female-driven modern version of Oliver Twist, next year. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Hot on the heels of the first TV spots for the film, a new featurette for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 has gone online. The featurette includes Kristen Stewart uncomfortably discussing aspects of the film like marriage and vampire babies. Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner also appear to discuss their characters as well, interspersed with some behind-the-scenes footage. The second half of the video is entirely made up of behind-the-scenes clips, like Lautner running shirtless in the rain (this guy really hates clothes). It’s nothing too mind-blowing, but odds are if you’re a fan of the series this featurette will pique your interest.

The release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is only a little over a month away, and the publicity campaign is about to kick into high gear. A new TV spot for the pic has been released, touting the film as “the motion picture event the world has been waiting for” because the children of Somalia can’t get enough of that Bella. The spot gives us a good look at some of the wolf scenes, and I have to say they look better than they have before. The CGI on them has definitely improved.

Summit has released two new teaser posters for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. We get one poster featuring Bella and Edward in a romantic embrace, and the other poster features Jacob all alone and sad-looking. Both posters are branded with the logically impossible tagline “Forever is only the beginning.” Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The Twilight Saga- Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18. Hit the jump to see the posters.

The cover for Entertainment Weekly’s Fall Preview Issue has been unveiled, much to the delight of Twihards the world over. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart grace the cover providing some much-needed publicity for the relatively unknown drama The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The image finds Pattinson and Stewart all wet underneath a waterfall, with Pattinson doing his best “I hope I don’t eat her” face.

With the fourth installment of the Twilight Saga premiering November 18th, even the ensemble stars are quickly becoming household names. Along with veteran cast members Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen), Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) and Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), newcomers Julia Jones and BooBoo Stewart, who play the Clearwater siblings, rounded out the first panel of talent at Summit’s press room. Earlier in the morning, the group surprised unsuspecting—or, perhaps wistfully suspecting—fans by greeting them at breakfast. The cast appeared genuinely thankful for the Twi-hards’ enduring enthusiasm, and spoke excitedly about the next installment.
Below are some highlights from the press conference. Find the full transcript after the jump.

I’m not a Twilight fan and I think I’ve made that as clear as humanly possible to the readers of the site. But in Hall H this morning, I’m in the minority. Fans have been lined up for days to get their first look at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. We were shown two scenes from the film and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner talked about the controversial birth scene, the journey of their characters, and adorable children ask adorable questions.
