Three Character Posters for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2

The Dark Knight Rises has been hogging the poster spotlight over the past few days with six weather-themed character posters and today’s hi-res banners, but now it’s Twilight’s turn to be front and center.  Three character posters for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 have been unveiled via a fan scavenger hunt (ie. fans did the legwork to uncover marketing material).  The posters feature Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner putting on their super serious faces, and the posters all sport the confusing tagline of “Forever” even though Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is the concluding chapter of the series.  Nevertheless, fans will get their last chance to check out Brooding Pattinson and Moody Stewart before the two shake things up with the trippy Cosmopolis and a sexually-charged On the Road, respectively.  Meanwhile, Lautner is still trying to launch that action career of his.

Two New Images from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2

Summit Entertainment has released two new images from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.  As you can see, one of the images shows new parents Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) apprehensively starring at the unknown.  The other image shows Taylor Lautner making one of his two facial expressions.

Director Bill Condon Talks THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 Reshoots, New Trailer and Unique Posters

While the Twilight franchise may be winding down, fans still have one last feature film to look forward to later this year.  Director Bill Condon recently posted a brief letter to fans on Facebook in order to explain the reshoots that will take place in a couple of weeks.  Condon quickly assuaged any fears of a delay of the theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 by stressing the technical need for these reshoots; no new scenes or dialogue will be added.  Condon also hints that a new trailer will be released soon for fans to “decode,” and calls the first posters for the film “unlike any Twilight images you’ve seen before.”  The finale of the Twilight saga, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, opens November 16th.  Hit the jump to read Condon’s letter.

Maggie Grace Talks LOCKOUT, TWILIGHT, TAKEN 2, DECODING ANNIE PARKER, and More

Luc Besson’s new sci-fi thriller, Lockout, is a fun and exciting ride set in the not too distant future.  Maggie Grace plays first daughter Emilie Warnock who is leading a humanitarian mission to MS One, an experimental prison in space. When a violent intergalactic mutiny unexpectedly sets loose 500 of Earth’s most dangerous psychotic criminals, President Warnock sends in the falsely convicted Agent Snow (Guy Pearce) to rescue her in exchange for his freedom. Living up to his irreverent reputation, Snow pushes all of Emilie’s buttons, but Emilie proves she can give as good as she gets and together they make a formidable team.

At the press day for Lockout, we sat down with Grace at a roundtable interview to talk about what attracted her to the role of Emilie.  She told us why she loves her action films served up with humor and how she enjoyed taking on the physically demanding role that involved sophisticated action scenes and a combination of stunts, combats and wire-work.  She discussed her training with stunt coordinator Patrick Cauderlier, her fun relationship on set with Pearce and their collaboration on the film’s Casablanca-inspired final scene, and why running in spacesuits presented some unusual challenges.   Grace also talked about her upcoming projects: Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2, Taken 2 and Decoding Annie Parker, plus why she’d like to do a romantic comedy.

Last week presented me with the first opportunity I’ve had in a while to catch two movies in a theater within 24 hours of one another (cue the scoffing of real cinephiles). While I’ll sure that I’ll be hammered for that previous statement when it comes time to renew my movie blogger certification, the truth is that, in the small market I call home, only the most mainstream of the mainstream films ever make it to the silver screen. So, with that said, I’d just like to thank the creative forces behind 21 Jump Street and The Hunger Games for giving me the opportunity to spend 1/6 of a day at the movies with films that, while drastically different in almost every conceivable metric, were solid from beginning to end.

Moving on, in this week’s installment the Top 5 is offering modest coverage of Anchorman 2‘s forward progress, Wrath of the Titans interviews with Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, director Jonathan Liebesman and more, the debut of our new podcast, The Collision, The Dark Knight Rises trailer in Lego form, and a recap of some of the week’s top trailers. Teaser Trailer for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2

The teaser trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has gone online.  There’s really not much here other than Vampire Bella (Kristen Stewart).  I assume there will be explanation for why her eyes are red rather than gold like the Cullens (or is that the whole newborn thing from Eclipse?)  I’m also a tad confused when she says her life had been “ordinary” up until she became a vampire.  Considering her love interests, enemies, and the culture she saw before becoming a vampire, I’m not sure how her life was “ordinary”.  The movies make no sense now.

Teaser for the Teaser Trailer for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2

You brought this on yourself, fandoms.  If you hadn’t stood for needing to see every teeny-tiny second of new footage on movies you were excited for, we wouldn’t be inundated with this awful new trend of doing teasers for trailers.  It’s an ad for an ad.  And we can just keep going down this rabbit hole.  We can do a 10-second teaser for a 20-second teaser, and a 5-second teaser for that 10-second teaser.

So after the jump you can find a 12-second teaser for the teaser trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.  The full teaser trailer goes online on March 26th.  The movie opens November 16th.

Maggie Grace Talks TAKEN 2 and THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 at WonderCon

At this weekend’s WonderCon, I was able to sit down with Maggie Grace (Lost) for an extended interview.  The reason she was attending the con was to promote Luc Besson‘s high-octane outer space thriller Lockout that also stars Guy Pearce.   In the film, Pearce plays Snow, a man wrongly accused of conspiracy to commit espionage. His one chance at a pardon comes when he is tasked with rescuing the president’s daughter from a maximum security outer space prison facility when the inmates take control.  Lockout is the feature directorial debut of James Mather and Stephen St. Leger and it opens April 13th.  For more on the film, here’s a five minute clip and our recap of the WonderCon panel.

Since my interview with Grace covered a number of her upcoming projects like Taken 2 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, I decided to break it up into two parts.  In today’s installment, Grace talks about the success of the first Taken and what the sequel is about.  In addition, with Grace playing Irina Denali in the final Twilight movie, she describes her character, what it was like to work for Bill Condon, what the fans have been like, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to watch and look for more with Grace tomorrow.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 Teaser Trailer Preview Debuts March 20th; Full Trailer Released Online March 26th

Anticipation for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the final (but possibly not final) film in the blockbuster Twilight franchise is at a fever pitch; even more so than the 2004 Drew Barrymore-Jimmy Fallon comedy Fever Pitch (which, come to think of it, wasn’t actually all that high). At any rate, a few weeks ago, we reported that the teaser trailer for Part 2 would be attached to the March 26 release of Lionsgate’s next great tween-baiting franchise, The Hunger Games. We know, THAT’S TOO FAR AWAY! You’ll never make it. Oh God, you’re getting the chills, you’re gonna be sick.

But hey, Lionsgate knows you’re hurting, baby. So they’re gonna give you a little taste for free on Tuesday, March 20, when a preview of the trailer will hit the internets at 6 AM EST; and then, on Monday March 26 at 6 AM, after The Hunger Games has torn apart the box office, the whole damn teaser trailer will also be yours for the online viewing. That should be enough to keep you squared away for a few months. But if you really wanna hit that Twi-high, you gotta dole out your $11.50 on November 16, when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 hits theatres. Hit the jump to read the full press release.

First Clip from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2

Twilight fans waited eagerly last night for the midnight release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on DVD and Blu-ray. Target rewarded their customers with an exclusive clip from the sequel and series finale, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Fans can rest assured that if author Stephanie Meyer decides to write more Twilight books, Lionsgate will be on board to make the feature adaptations. In the meantime, the trailer for Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will run ahead of The Hunger Games when it debuts in theaters on March 23^rd. Duh: Lionsgate Will Make More TWILIGHT If Stephanie Meyer Writes New Books; First Trailer for BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 Attached to THE HUNGER GAMES

In case you had any doubt that Lionsgate would make another Twilight movie past Breaking Dawn – Part 2 should author Stephanie Meyer decide to extend the series, Lionsgate exec Rob Friedman is here to alleviate your fears. Per THR, early this morning on a conference call Friedman said, “If [Meyer] wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her.” While the move is a no-brainer, it actually holds a bit more clout than Warner Bros. saying they’d make another Harry Potter if J.K. Rowling wrote another book. Rowling has been pretty steadfast in her conclusion of the series, but Meyer has been a bit more open-ended when it comes to more Twilight entries; the author previously stated that she originally envisioned Twilight as a longer series. New Scene from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 to Be Unveiled at Target’s Midnight Release of PART 1 DVD

While that November release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 may seem like an eternity to die-hard fans, Summit has a treat in store for those heading out to pick up Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on DVD. In nearly 500 stores across the country, EW reports that Target will be hosting the world premiere of an exclusive scene from Breaking Dawn – Part 2 during the midnight DVD/Blu-ray release of Part 1. The clip will screen at 11pm at select stores as fans are waiting in line to pick up their copy of the first half of the finale.

This is a pretty ingenious decision on Target’s part, as the store ensures that most Twihards (and by golly there’s a lot of them) will choose Target as their Part 1 DVD source. In addition to the regular edition of the DVD/Blu-ray, Target will also be selling a Limited Collector’s Edition DVD that includes—deep breath—an authentic prop flower from Bella and Edward’s wedding scene. First Images and Synopses for THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, GONE, SINISTER, STEP UP 4, and More

Summit has released images and synopses for their 2012 line-up.  We already showed you the first image from Warm Bodies, and now we have the first images from Gone starring Amanda Seyfried, Sinister starring Ethan Hawke, The Perks of Being a Wallflower starring Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, and Step Up 4 starring people you probably don’t know.  The studio has released synopses for all of their 2012 movies.  We don’t have images for every one of their films and some of the synopses are really just log-lines, but you’ll know more about these films than you did before.

Possible Merger Between Lions Gate and Summit Entertainment

Earlier this month, we mentioned that Lions Gate Entertainment’s The Hunger Games must make at least $100 million in order to justify the sequels being made. While there’s no doubt in my mind the movie will make that at the box office, the independent film company does have another source of income: merge with Summit Entertainment. The studio that’s behind the current Twilight series (which has earned over $1 billion through 4 of its 5 planned films) is reportedly in talks with Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. about a potential merger. The benefit to Lions Gate would be a much-needed cash infusion. This, in turn, could ensure the production of The Hunger Games sequels, which could pay dividends for Summit if successful. Christopher Heyerdahl Talks HELL ON WHEELS and THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1

On the AMC Western drama Hell on Wheels, actor Christopher Heyerdahl plays Thor Gundersen, also known as The Swede, who is Thomas Durant’s (Colm Meaney) ruthless head of security. His tactics help him maintain a degree of control over the chaotic traveling town, but he abuses his power to extort money from its residents.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Christopher Heyerdahl talked about how he came to be a part of Hell on Wheels, what he enjoys about playing such a complex and complicated character as The Swede, that he’s developed the character through extensive research both in books and in his own Norwegian heritage, and the challenge of shooting the Western concurrently with his SyFy series Sanctuary. He also talked about playing the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in the Twilight Saga films, the deleted scene from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 that he hopes will end up on the DVD, what audiences can look forward to with Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and what it’s been like to have the support of genre fans.
