NBC has announced its schedule for the 2013-14 season, and as expected Thursday has been entirely retooled.  Here are a few highlights:

• Thursday nights will kick off with Parks and Recreation, followed by new comedies Welcome to The Family, Sean Saves the World, and The Michael J. Fox show.  Parenthood will air in the slightly jinxed 10pm slot.
• The drama series Revolution has been moved to Wednesday nights at 8pm, Chicago Fire will now air Tuesday at 10pm, and Grimm has been moved back to Friday nights at 9pm.
• The limited series Dracula will air on Friday nights in the fall, and will be replaced by the pirate drama Crossbones in midseason.
• The season five premiere of Community has been delayed to an unspecified date and time—surprise, surprise.
• In order to take advantage of the Winter Olympics ratings boost, new dramas Believe, Crisis, and the aforementioned Crossbones will premiere midseason.
• Renewal decisions have yet to be made regarding Hannibal and Celebrity Apprentice, but are expected in the next few weeks.
• As previously reported, Go On, Up All Night, 1600 Penn, Whitney, and Guys with Kids have been cancelled.

Yesterday we brought you the Critics’ Choice Award nominees.  Tonight belongs to the Television Critics Association.  Homeland tops the list with 4 nominations.  While it got the extra boost over established veterans in the Outstanding New Program category, the taut thriller earned its spots in Best Drama and Program of the Year as well as the nod to Claire Danes for her stellar performance.  The critics understandably still love Breaking Bad and Bryan Cranston, Mad Men and Jon Hamm, Louie and Louis C.K., Game of Thrones and Peter Dinklage, Parks and Recreation and Amy Poehler.  Creator/star Lena Dunham is the freshest face in the bunch, representing in both Individual Achievement in Comedy and Outstanding New Program with Girls.  But as always, there are a few head-scratchers.  Jessica Lange for American Horror Story is a legacy vote, and while her scenery-chewing was very entertaining—for Individual Achievement in Drama?  No.  And Smash somehow sneaked into Outstanding New Program rather than, say, Veep or Awake.

Still, the TCA always gets more right than they do wrong, especially with their neat Heritage Award.  (This year’s eclectic contenders are Cheers, Lost, Saturday Night Live, Star Trek, and Twin Peaks.)  Read the full list after the jump.

The upfronts are upon us! Yes, it’s that time of year again. All the networks will be unveiling their fall 2012 schedules throughout this week, announcing time slot shifts for seasoned shows and debuts for the pilots that made the cut to full-series.  Today NBC announced their line-up with a pretty disparaging shake-up to the old schedule: Community has been moved from its prime Thursday night slot to Friday (aka where your favorite shows go to die).  The fan-favorite series wasn’t guaranteed a fourth season pick-up, but the TV gods were merciful as the show was recently given a renewal for a 13-episode fourth season.  However, the Friday slot isn’t exactly great news.  The show’s young and vocal fanbase has kept the series alive, but I wonder how many will actually choose to stay in on Friday nights to watch the show live.

There is hope, as previous ratings-challenged yet critically loved series like Friday Night Lights and Fringe managed to squeak by on Friday.  That said, with a short episode order and the new Friday timeslot I’m getting the feeling that NBC doesn’t have much faith in the show’s future post-season four.  I guess we should be thankful that it’s even coming back at all.  Nevertheless, the network has a slew of new series (some promising) that they hope will catch on.  After the jump you’ll find descriptions and clips of all of NBC’s new series, so take a look at plot out your new fall 2012 TV schedule accordingly.
