AMC has released the first image from the upcoming fourth season of its incredibly popular drama series The Walking Dead. Production began earlier this week in Atlanta on season four, and this image doesn’t tease much other than the fact that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick may or may not have a stalker. Little is known about the upcoming season, but the show is now under the creative supervision of new showrunner Scott Gimple after Glen Mazzara was “let go” in the middle of season three. After much buildup and promise, the third season finale was about as anticlimactic as you can get, so hopefully The Walking Dead is taken in a bit of a new direction this year. David Morrissey is confirmed to return as The Governor, and Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Emily Kinney (Beth) have all been upped to series regular status.

Hit the jump to check out the image. A firm date has yet to be announced, but expect the fourth season of The Walking Dead to begin sometime this fall—likely in October.

Season three of AMC's The Walking Dead introduced some new and quirky characters, none moreso than The Governor (David Morrissey) who had a penchant for keeping severed heads floating in aquariums. Now you can have your own collection of bobbing heads without the grisly (or very illegal) act of decapitation! A Limited Edition Blu-ray for season three of the zombie series comes in a wonderfully gory display case with two backlit "aquariums" featuring five floating heads. It's available to pre-order now for about $105 (which is 30% off the $150 retail price). Hit the jump to check it out.

Here's an image of AMC's The Walking Dead Season Three Limited Edition Blu-ray:

Fresh off of Sunday’s rather anticlimactic season finale for AMC’s immensely popular drama series The Walking Dead, the network is making some casting shifts ahead of the upcoming fourth season. Immediately after Sunday’s episode, word broke that David Morrissey—who plays the villainous The Governor—would return as a series regular for season four, and now Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Emily Kinney (Beth) have been upped to series regulars for the impending season. Hit the jump for more.

News of the casting shifts comes courtesy of THR, which adds that Melissa Ponizo (Karen) will return as a recurring guest star in season four. Karen was the only remaining member of The Governor’s attack party after Morrissey’s character went full-psycho on his own group following the botched—and did I say anticlimactic?—showdown at “The Prison.”

Tyreese and Sasha were introduced halfway through season three, but Beth has been a part of the show since Rick’s group came across “The Farm” in season two. As a number of the show’s female characters perished this past season, it appears that Beth will be getting a bit more screentime next year. Production on season four gets underway this summer in anticipation of a likely October premiere. Scott M. Gimple was recently installed as the series’ new showrunner, as he takes over for departing showrunner Glen Mazzara, who himself took over for original showrunner Frank Darabont halfway through season two. Such is life behind-the-scenes on The Walking Dead.

Season three of AMC's The Walking Dead is now behind us and so is a major cast member who met their end in the surprising season finale. Writer of The Walking Dead comics and executive producer on the show, Robert Kirkman, recently spoke at length about the decision to make some changes from the comics for the show. Kirkman talked about the death of some characters, the retention of others, reactions from the comic fans and moving forward with season four. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

[Spoiler Alert]

Kirkman recently spoke to THR about the fallout from the shocking end of season three of The Walking Dead, as well as where the show will go from here. Head over to the link for the full interview; highlights follow below:

On the death of Andrea (Laurie Holden):
It's a big departure from the comics, which to a certain extent is somewhat risky but at the end of the day I like the idea of there being big differences that key in to this is the show, this is the comic. I like that there's some kind of separation there. It was definitely something that weighted upon us heavily. The unfortunate thing is that you're not really going to see why this was a good decision and good for the show until season four. We thought having that tragic end to her story line -- having [Andrea] work so hard to save these people of Woodbury and find a peaceful resolution to ...

The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are proving that watching TV live is still something viewers want to do. Though DV-Rs, OnDemand and online viewing have seemingly reduced traditional ratings by allowing access long after the live event, there's still something to be said for tuning in to the zeitgeist and wanting to experience what everyone else is. It was a big night for TV, with two of the most popular shows had important episodes: AMC's The Walking Dead wrapped up its third season while HBO's Game of Thrones had a much anticipated premiere. It looks like more people chose zombies over Westeros this week, but hit the jump for the numbers breakdown and what it all means.

The Walking Dead reportedly pulled 12.4 million viewers last night, 8.1 million of whom where in the coveted 18-49 demographic. For comparison, the Season Two finale pulled in about 9 million total viewers, and 10.2 million for its midseason finale in December. This number breaks the record for its Season Three midseason premiere, which clocked in at around 12.3 million.

The cable series beat out everyone so far this season, even the big heavyweight network hits like American Idol, The Voice and Modern Family.

Game of Thrones returned with 4.4 million viewers, also a record breaking number, and up 13% from the 3.9 who tuned in to the Season Two premiere last year. However, HBO estimates that over the two subsequent reruns (the show initially premiered at the same time as The Walking Dead, ...

The third season of AMC's The Walking Dead has now come to its conclusion. We started this season by watching as Rick and his followers fought their way into an infested prison which they promptly turned into a secure place to start a new life. The prison was a central focus in the season finale but it has turned into a very different place. We also lost a couple of characters in this last hour, though after suffering a season's worth of emotional turmoil, it's the survivors might actually be the worst off.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9. Hit the jump for my review of the season three finale, "Welcome to the Tombs."

This episode finally got us to the conflict between Woodbury and the Prison crew, which is what we've been building to all season. However, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the character arcs that reached a stage of completion (or at least a new level) by the end of season three. Daryl lost a brother but found a family; Michonne landed in a similar boat. Glenn and Maggie went through their own emotional rollercoaster. But it's the Grimes family members who have suffered the most incredible pains during these last 16 episodes: the death ...

The penultimate episode of season three of AMC's The Walking Dead is now behind us. Along the way we've had to say goodbye to some near and dear characters and tonight's episode was no different. While it was still just a precursor to the all out war that is expected on next week's finale, it still packed an emotional punch that managed to carry the story forward ever so slightly. Blood has been spilt on both sides of the conflict; no one is safe, no one is certain to survive.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9. Hit the jump for my review of "This Sorrowful Life."

Tonight's episode was all about the Dixon brothers, with a bit of Michonne thrown in for good measure. Rick, Daryl and Hershel have all signed off on handing Michonne over to the Governor for the chance that Woodbury will leave the prison alone, but Rick recruits Merle to do the dirty work. Merle knows that Rick and the others lack the spine to do what's necessary so he takes matters into his own hand(s) and takes Michonne on an ill-fated road trip. Meanwhile, Rick second guesses his decision too late and Daryl goes off in search of his brother to prevent the exchange. Michonne manages ...

Only two more episodes in season three of AMC's The Walking Dead. Tonight's story felt like a retro horror movie at times but for the most part was a chore to slog through. For fans who love Andrea (or just love to hate her), this episode was for you as the main crux of the plot centered on her and the mobilization of the forces at Woodbury.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9. Hit the jump for my review of “Prey.”

I fully expected tonight's episode to be filler, but much like with the episode titled "Clear," they could have done more with the side characters. There was an effort to flesh out Tyreese (Coleman) and his crew with a little bit of backstory and some conflict; unfortunately this was overshadowed by Andrea's decision to flee Woodbury and The Gov's obsession with bringing her back. It's looking like next week is somehow going to be even more filler, probably taking place at a parallel time to tonight's episode but occurring at the prison instead of Woodbury. I have faith in writer and new showrunner Scott Gimple, who wrote "Clear" as well as next week's installment, "This Sorrowful Life." Let's take a look at what did (or didn't) happen in "Prey."

With only three episodes left in the third season of AMC's The Walking Dead, we've unfortunately gotten to the point where everything is set up for a big showdown and now we're just stalling for time. Last week's episode was a great example of how a well-written show can use that to its advantage and work in some exemplary character development. This week's episode? Not so much.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9. Hit the jump for my review of “Arrow on the Doorpost.”

First of all, I'd just like to thank last week's hitchhiker on behalf of the cast since apparently his pack provided Hershel, Rick and Daryl with shiny new duds. I'm sure the ladies will find some way to update their post-apocalyptic style soon as well (zombie fashion show?). Anyway, the bulk of this episode centered on a meet-and-greet between Rick and the Governor in order to discuss terms and see if both sides could get along. Doesn't look like that will be happening. A side-plot was the continued butting of heads between Glenn and Merle that developed a bit of tension and then fizzled out. At least Glenn and Maggie got to patch things up in a sexy fashion.

About this meeting between Rick and the Governor...it's ...

Last week's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead was a bit on the dull side, but tonight's ep really made up for it! New locations to experience, interesting relationships to explore and even a surprise reunion. While it wasn't the most action-packed of episodes, there was just something about tonight's hour that took the franchise to a whole new level.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Dallas Roberts, Emily Kinney, Chad Coleman and Lew Temple, AMC’s The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9. Hit the jump for my review of “Clear.”

[Spoiler Alert: All reviews and recaps come with a general spoiler warning from this point onward.]

Tonight's episode departed from this season's pattern of splitting the story between characters in Woodbury and characters in the prison. In fact, we only get scenes with Rick, Carl and Michonne for the entire run, with an additional surprise character thrown in for good measure. We don't even get to see Woodbury or the prison, which came as a welcome breath of fresh air.

Instead, Rick takes Carl and Michonne for a jaunt back to his home town to scare up some weapons and ammunition. Finding the police station and other familiar haunts picked clean, they happen upon a strange stretch of road decked out in creepy phrases and booby traps. Who's waiting for them on the other side of the barricade? None other than Morgan (Lennie James), the man who saved Rick from certain death in the first ...

Over the past 30 years, PaleyFest has held panel sessions and screenings that connect the worldwide community of television fans with the casts and creators of their favorite TV shows. Kicking things off this year were the folks behind The Walking Dead, which is currently one of the most popular drama series on television, and Collider was invited to be on the press line and speak to some of the talent responsible for pushing the boundaries of storytelling.

While there, we briefly got the opportunity to speak with executive producers Robert Kirkman (who created the comic the series is based on), David Alpert and Greg Nicotero (who is also responsible for all of the zombie gore), as well as cast members Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Scott Wilson and Emily Kinney. The actors shared their thoughts on the journeys their characters have gone on and where they’re headed, and the creative team gave some insight about wrapping up Season 3, the pressure of topping the previous season’s finale, looking ahead to Season 4 (which starts shooting in May), creating new and exciting zombie kills, and how they cast for the walkers. Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

Greg, as things are getting closer to the finish line for Season 3, just how much darker do things get and are there any moments of levity before the season is done?

GREG NICOTERO: You’ve gotta keep those moments of levity. As dark ...

After the crazy ending of last week's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, I fully expected the toned down hour of television we got tonight. There were a few minor surprises here and there with a little bit of classical practical effects work thrown in for good measure. Tonight's episode was all about setting the stage and the players for the inevitable conflict between the two groups of survivors. Only five episodes left!

The attack from the Governor's forces left the crew at the prison a bit shaken; the effects were still being felt this week. Merle is being kept under the watchful eye of his brother and may have found an unbiased ally in Hershel. Michonne continues to exist on the fringes of the group, but appears to have gained Rick's trust, along with Carl, who gets an upgrade in guns, armor and responsibility. When Andrea crashes their party, she's welcomed warmly by some (okay, only Carol) and treated hostilely by others (mostly Rick). After attempting to broker a truce between the survivors at the prison and those at Woodbury, Andrea heads back to The Governor and has a chance to put ...

I may have been a little overzealous in rating last week's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead. Even though it pulled in a ridiculous number of viewers, there were some clunky moments and some odd character behavior written into the episode, one which lacked the cohesiveness and punch necessary for a mid-season return. I'm happy to say it picked back up this week with great character building, two solid action sequences and even a surprise character death, but that wasn't the biggest surprise by a long shot!

Tonight's episode picks up where we left off with Rick continuing to lose his marbles. Pretty much everyone knows he's not stable now and Glenn is starting to assume more of a leadership role. He and Michonne are looking to team up and take out the Governor on their own, even if Hershel thinks this is a terrible idea. (At least someone is finally patching up the breach in the prison!) We get some closure on the tension between Glenn and Maggie but it's certainly not resolved just yet...there were more important matters to attend to.

Meanwhile, back at Woodbury, the Governor is testing the loyalty of his followers. He ...

AMC’s The Walking Dead is an incredibly popular show. Last night’s midseason premiere (read Dave’s recap here) scored a staggering 12.3 million viewers, which is the series’ largest audience to date. The episode also proved strong in the coveted 18-49 demo, garnering 7.7 million viewers with the key demographic. In fact, the series average for the 18-49 demo is higher than those of network hits like Modern Family, NCIS, and even The Big Bang Theory. The show’s previous ratings record was the season three premiere which scored 10.9 million viewers, but the numbers just continue to climb. When taking into account the encore broadcasts of the episode, a total of 16.6 million people watched The Walking Dead last night.

The ratings feat of last night's episode is even more impressive when you take into account the fact that the show was airing opposite the 2013 Grammy Awards, which are an annual ratings draw. Despite AMC’s apparent revolving door approach to TWD showrunners, it’s safe to assume that the show will be on the air for a very, very long time should these kinds of numbers continue.

If you're a toy collector, you've likely had a great past few days. That's because every February at Toy Fair in NYC, all the toy manufactures show off tons of upcoming toys and many are being revealed for the first time. Over the past 24 hours we've posted a ton of them broken down by manufacturer, and we're not close to being done. However, due to how many we've yet to post, I'm going to take a group approach to this article.

As you can see after the jump, we've got over 100 pictures from the convention floor and you can check out some of the new toys for Iron Man (and Iron Man 3), The Walking Dead, Batman, The Dark Knight, Star Wars, DC Justice, Real Steel, Marvel Selects, Resident Evil, Arkham City, Star Trek, Superman, Thor, Wonder Woman, Tom Cruise from Mission Impossible, and much more.

Thanks to Samantha Cheirif for the pics.

While some people like heavy articulation on their action figures, others just want something cool to sit on a desk. Enter McFarlane Toys. While they're essentially just small statues, they have great attention to detail, and they always look cool wherever you display them. At this year's Toy Fair, McFarlane showed off some new toys for The Walking Dead, Spawn, and Assassin's Creed. Hit the jump to check them out.

Every year at Comic-Con, I always see a huge line at the Funko/Pop! booth for their newest 4" vinyl figures. While I'm not as familiar with vinyl toys as I am action figures, I do know a lot of people collect them and they make a lot of convention exclusives. Over the past few years, they've produced over 300 different characters ranging from Disney to Darth Vader.

At this year's Toy Fair, Funko/Pop! showed off some of their upcoming figures as well as some Wacky Wobblers for Iron Man 3, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, DC and Marvel superheros, Ace Ventura, Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, and a lot more. Hit the jump to check them out.

AMC's The Walking Dead came back fighting tonight with an opening that pit brother against brother in a gladiatorial battle of the Dixons. It looks like fans finally got an answer to the question of what would happen when Merle and Daryl were reunited and it was anything but what I expected. Things are starting to unravel in Woodbury as well as back at the prison, but it wasn't all dreary: tonight's episode even featured a quick undead cameo from former Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward!
