As everyone knows, director Gary Ross‘ The Hunger Games is now playing in theaters. During the recent Los Angeles press junket, I landed an exclusive interview with Liam Hemsworth. Since he’s been doing so much press recently, I tried to ask new questions like what’s his favorite movie, director and actor, what’s his karaoke song, what surprised him about making the film and the promotion that has come with it, deleted scenes, the mall tour and more. In addition, with Hemsworth busy with a number of other projects, we also talked about The Expendables 2, Phillip Noyce‘s Timeless, Dito Montiel‘s Empire State, and more.
Based on Suzanne Collins’ novel and produced by Nina Jacobson, The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley , Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman and Amandla Stenberg. For more on the film, here’s three clips and six minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, as well as all our previous coverage. Hit the jump to either read or listen to the interview.

We’ve got a couple of casting stories for you this morning to wash that Oscar snub taste out of your mouth. First up, Movie Hole reports that Liam Hemsworth has officially signed on to star in the time travel romantic drama Timeless. We previously reported that Hemsworth was in talks to star in the pic, but now it looks like things are definitely a go. Hemsworth plays a man whose wife leaves him a fortune after her death. Haunted by her memory, the man uses the money to build a time travel machine in order to see her one last time.
Phillip Noyce (Salt) is onboard to direct, and filming is expected to get underway in July. I’m incredibly interested to see how Hemsworth’s career shakes out. He has potential, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in the highly anticipated adaption of The Hunger Games, which opens in March. The actor is currently filming The Expendables 2. Hit the jump for casting news regarding the indie I Am My Family Secret.

Liam Hemsworth’s fame is likely to explode next March when he co-stars in the adaptation of the popular young adult novel The Hunger Games. So it’s a smart choice for a production to get him on board before his quote becomes more expensive. According to Moviehole, Phillip Noyce’s romantic sci-fi drama Timeless has made that smart choice. Hemsworth is in talks to star in the film, and if he takes the role he would play a recently married man who loses his wife and then discovers she left him a fortune. Haunted by an unresolved issue between himself and his beloved, the man invests the money to build a time travel device, just to see her one last time. I suppose it’s worth disrupting the space-time continuum if it’s for love. While the concept sounds a little corny, it comes from Enchanted screenwriter Bill Kelly so I have some hope.
I’m interested to see if Hemsworth is the real deal or just another pretty face. I’ll find out when The Hunger Games opens on March 23, 2012. Hemsworth is also signed on to co-star in The Expendables 2, which opens August 17, 2012.

Director Phillip Noyce (Salt) is currently in negotiations to direct a time-travel film called Timeless. The flick comes from a spec script written by Bill Kelly, who also wrote the surprisingly great Disney film Enchanted. Deadline reports that the premise involves, “a recently wed man [who] loses his wife and discovers after the fact that she left him a fortune. Haunted by an unresolved issue between himself and his wife, the man invests the money to build a time travel device, just to see her one last time.”
It’s unknown how soon the project will go into production, as Noyce has a rather full schedule at the moment. He recently signed on to direct another spy thriller, Wenceslas Square, and has been preparing an adaptation of Tim Winton’s Dirt Music for some time now with Russell Crowe eyeing the lead. He also has the sequel to this summer’s hit film Salt in the works. Hit the jump for a bit more on the flick.

After sticking with 3D animated motion-capture films for his last three outings, director Robert Zemeckis is poised to return to live-action with Timeless. It would also be a return to time-travel for the Back to the Future director as Deadline reports that the pitch is based in the genre. Warner Bros. has picked up the tent-pole project for six-figures with screenwriter Mike Thompson (Love Happens) handling the script.
Deadline reports that Zemeckis is also “rumored to be kicking the tires on such live action projects as Superman.” Other directors rumored to be on the short list for the upcoming superhero flick include Darren Aronofsky, Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones, and Zack Snyder.
Zemeckis is currently at work on Yellow Submarine based off the 1968 Beatles movie/album of the same name. His last live-action film was 2000′s Cast Away.
