Are Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich and Sofia Vergara Starring in the DANGER GIRL Movie?

File this one under rumor for now, but word on the street is (and by street, I mean the highly accurate interwebs) that the feature film version of Danger Girl now has three very good-looking women attached to star. Latino Review reports (via tracking boards) that Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich and Sofia Vergara are attached to the adaptation of the Wildstorm comic book series Danger Girl from J. Scott Campbell. Benderspink is apparently shopping the rights to the project, which is described as Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark, with the team element of Mission: Impossible thrown in for good measure. Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) is supposedly attached to direct.

The casting seems a bit too “teenage boy’s fantasy” to be true, so I’m reluctant to report this as solid fact at the moment. Then again, it could also turn out to be spot-on (egg, meet face), but for now just take this with a grain of salt. When the Danger Girl film was first announced, producer Adrian Askarieh said that the film would be the anti-Charlie’s Angels and more in the vein of Batman Begins. Film Adaptation of Comic THE NYE INCIDENTS Moves Forward With Todd Lincoln Directing

A film adaptation of the comic The Nye Incidents is moving along, with Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) set to direct. The comic, created by Whitley Strieber and Craig Spector, is set in the world of alien abductions and centers on a medical examiner hunting down a serial killer committing crimes in the alien abductee community. Unfortunately, Bill Nye the Science Guy is nowhere to be found. Strieber will be involved as a consultant on the film, and Heat Vision reports that the approach is to make an “anti-alien invasion” movie, with the tone never veering into X-Files territory while remaining terrifying.

Daniel Alter is producing the adaptation for RKO. They’re currently looking for a writer to work with Lincoln on the project. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of The Nye Incidents.

Mandalay Acquires Rights to Joe Hill’s TWITTERING FROM THE CIRCUS OF THE DEAD; Todd Lincoln in Talks to Direct

Mandalay Pictures has solidified its place atop the Joe Hill fanclub by acquiring the film rights to Hill’s short story Twittering from the Circus of the Dead. Heat Vision reports that the studio that is already adapting Hill’s novel Horns for the big screen is quickly assembling a creative team behind their latest Hill acquisition. Per the report, director Todd Lincoln (upcoming The Apparition) is in talks to helm the pic from a screenplay by Chris Borrelli. Hill will serve as an executive producer on the project. In addition to Twittering and Horns, the author (and son of Stephen King) has also seen his comic book series Locke & Key adapted into a television pilot by Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci, Josh Friedman, and director Mark Romanek. His first novel, Heart Shaped Box, currently resides at Warner Bros.

Originally published in the horror anthology The New Dead, Twittering from the Circus of the Dead is told entirely from the perspective of a teenage girl’s tweets as she and her family embark on a cross country road trip. In a somewhat surprising twist, Mandalay has received Hill’s blessing to take the adaptation outside of the zombie genre for fear of over-saturation (apparently a new concern in the film industry). That said, the report doesn’t elaborate on the alterations outside of noting a “few surprise changes.” As for potential director Todd Lincoln, his aforementioned directorial debut The Apparition stars Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan and is currently eyeing a 2012 release stateside for Dark Castle/Warner Bros.

Todd Lincoln to Direct DANGER GIRL and Other Updates on the Project

Producer Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) revealed today that director Todd Lincoln (the upcoming horror-thriller The Apparition) will helm the upcoming adaptation of the Wildstorm comic series Danger Girl.  Speaking to the LA Times, Askareih says the comics are “Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with the “team” element of Mission: Impossible.”  However, Askareih says they’ll be taking a Batman Begins approach the film by taking the characters “very seriously.”  The producer says it will be the anti-Charlie’s Angels.

Ashley Greene Will Star in Horror Flick THE APPARITION; Film to Run on Hotness

Men, if you find yourself forced into watching “Twilight” or “New Moon”, don’t panic.  There is a way to survive.  Be on the lookout for Ashley Greene, who plays some vampire lady, I wasn’t really paying attention because her character is not the point.  The point is Ashley Greene is jaw-droppingly attractive and every time the camera looks at her the suffering momentarily ends.  She is the life-saver which you must cling to for dear life.  At the end of it all, you will thank the gods and the casting director for putting her in that franchise.

Today we have news that she’ll be starring in Dark Castle’s upcoming horror movie “The Apparition”, which means you won’t spend time between scenes praying she’ll show up.  You just get to gaze upon her and let your adulation creep out others around you.  Hit the jump to go Greene.
