Last Friday’s Disney/Pixar panel at Comic-Con may not have featured any actual footage from the studios much-anticipated “Toy Story 3D” but it DID feature some newly rendered 3D scenes from “Toy Story 2″ – which is almost as good. Hard-core Pixar fans will recall that the studio has re-jiggered both of their iconic “Toy Story” features for 3D screens as part of the promotion for the release of “Toy Story 3D” in June 2010. The big news is that BOTH movies, in their new and improved 3D versions, will be in theatres on a double bill for two weeks only beginning October 2nd. The good folks at Pixar have just released a teaser trailer to promote this incredible event and it’s after the jump…

On October 2nd, for only two weeks, Walt Disney/Pixar is re-releasing the first two “Toy Story” movies in theaters as a double feature. While you may immediately think why would I pay to see these two movies again in a theater? Perhaps you’re thinking it’s nothing more than a cash grab. While I usually rail against studios trying to get more money out of the consumer for the same product, this time it’s different.
The reason? Pixar has gone back to the source files and turned both “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2″ into 3D movies. While no one yet knows how they’re going to look, I think we can all agree Pixar can be trusted to do it right and they’re going to look great.
Anyway, last night I was at the Bridge Theater in Los Angeles and spotted the first poster for the 3-D re-release. It’s after the jump.
