Adam Sandler Lands a Record 11 Razzie Nominations for JACK & JILL, JUST GO WITH IT, and BUCKY LARSON

Critically speaking, 2011 may have been Adam Sandler‘s worst year ever.  His two main vehicles, Just Go With It and Jack & Jill, were panned.  As a producer, his name is also on Zookeeper and (most damningly) Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.  The Razzies recognized his efforts with a record 11 nominations.  For those keeping track, this shatters the record set by Eddie Murphy and his 5 nominations for Norbit in 2007.  New Year’s Eve, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 join Jack & Jill and Bucky Larson as the 5 contenders for Worst Picture.  Hit the jump for the full list.

First Trailer for Joel Schumacher’s TRESPASS Starring Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman

The first trailer for director Joel Schumacher’s thriller Trespass is now available online. Starring Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, and Cam Gigandet, the film takes place in Kyle and Sarah Miller’s (Cage and Kidman) wealthy estate and centers around a home invasion that puts both of their lives and the life of their daughter (Liano Liberato) in jeopardy. I’m not one to constantly berate Schumacher for his fair share of mishaps, but I can’t help but think there is a reason Trespass is purportedly set to hit DVD and VOD platforms a little more than two weeks after its theatrical release. I can’t say for sure, but I think that reason is found somewhere in the midst of all the yelling the trailer contains.

Check out the trailer for yourself after the jump. Trespass opens to theaters on October 14th before hitting DVD and VOD on November 1st.

A task can’t get “more impossible”, but the prospect of seeing everything I want at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival just got more impossible.  We’ve already shown you the incredible line-ups for the Galas & Special Presentations, Real-to-Reel (Documentary), Midnight Madness, Vanguard, TIFF Kids, City to City, Canadian Features, and Canada First! programs. Now even more must-see movies have been thrown into the mix.  TIFF has announced that the spy thriller Page Eight (starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, and Ralph Fiennes) will be the closing night film in the Galas section.  Other films added to Galas and Special Presentations include Sleeping Beauty (starring Emily Browning), Winnie (starring Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard), Intruders (starring Clive Owen), Violet & Daisy (starring Saoirse Ronan and Alexis Bledel), and more.

Poster for TRESPASS Starring Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman; Film Opens October 14th and Hits VOD and DVD Less than Three Weeks Later?

The last we heard of Joel Schmacher’s hostage thriller Trespass was back in October 2010 when plenty of images from the film were released.  The movie then went surprisingly quiet considering it starred Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman plus a solid supporting cast that included Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom) and Liana Liberato (Trust).  Then in June it was picked up by Millennium and presumably it was going to get a solid theatrical release. Now it looks like it went quiet for a reason.  Movieline picked up a now-deleted tweet that showed the first poster for the film.  The poster’s a little bland but a new poster is a sign of life, right?  Well yes and no.  At the bottom of the poster the release date is listed as October 14th but VideoETA and Amazon say the movie hits DVD and VOD on November 1st.  That means that the theatrical release will likely be limited to the major markets.

While we’ll wait for official confirmation on this one, it does fit with why we’ve heard so little on this film and the fact that Schumacher hasn’t made a good movie since 2000′s Tigerland.  While it’s nothing new for a movie with name actors to head straight to DVD, I’m now curious to see exactly how bad it had to be to send it dump it on VOD so soon after a theatrical run.  In the meantime, hit the jump to check out the poster.

Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, and Joel Schumacher Talk TRESPASS; Plus a Ton of Images from the Film

With Trespass set to wrap its nine-week shoot in Shreveport, Louisiana this weekend, we have a slew of new images from the film as well as quotes from Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, and director Joel Schumacher to share with you today.  For those in the dark about the thriller, Trespass takes place over the course of one day and tells the story of a wealthy husband and wife (Cage & Kidman) who fall victim to a home invasion.  In addition to Cage and Kidman, the film also stars Cam Gigandet, Ben Mendelsohn, Jordana Spiro, and Liana Liberato.  It is currently looking at a 2011 release.

While it’s no secret that Schumacher has put out some clunkers in the past (I’m mostly looking at you, “Nipple Batman,” although I’ve heard less than stellar things about Twelve as well), it is equally true that the director has been responsible for solid offerings such as The Lost Boys and Falling Down.  This in mind, with every new Schumacher release, I find myself willing to give it a chance with the hope that he’ll make something with the type of lasting value his best films possess.  Though I wouldn’t say I’m waiting on pins and needles for Trespass, my approach here will be no different.

First Image from TRESPASS Starring Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman

The first image from Joel Schumacher’s thriller Trespass has landed online.  The film is currently shooting in Shreveport, LA and stars Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, Cam Gigandet, and Jordana Spiro (TBS’s My Boys).  Dedicated readers may remember that, only two months ago, Cage’s participation in the project seemed to be in jeopardy given an incommunicado vacation the actor enjoyed in the Bahamas.  Luckily (I think), all of those issues seem to have been ironed out as evidenced by tonight’s image which depicts Cage and Kidman at gunpoint.

Trespass was penned by Eli Richbourg and Karl Gajdusek.  The story revolves around a husband and wife (Cage & Kidman) who are taken hostage by gun-wielding perps looking for money.  As Schumacher himself puts it, “There are cross-connections between the family and the [criminals], and many secrets come out.”  Oh, Joel Schumacher, you had me at “cross-connections.”  To check out the full-sized first image from the film, hit the jump.

Has Nicolas Cage Dropped Out of TRESPASS?

When we first heard that Nicolas Cage had signed on to star opposite Nicole Kidman in director Joel Schumacher’s Trespass, the general reaction wasn’t too positive due to the notably spotty track record of the three parties involved in recent years.  Yet we tend to love Cage around these parts, warts and all.  So it gives me no pleasure to pass along the news that Cage appears to have dropped out of the production just two weeks shy of the start date.  Details after the jump.

Cam Gigandet Exclusive Interview at Comic-Con; Talks PRIEST, TWILIGHT, and Says He’s Been Cast in TRESPASS Along with Nicolas Cage

by     Posted: July 26th, 2010 at 10:00 pm

A few days ago I got to speak with Cam Gigandet at Comic-Con.  While some of you may recognize him from The Unborn, The O.C., Never Back Down or Pandorum, most of you will probably know him from the first Twilight movie as he played James (the villain).  Since wrapping on Twilight, Gigandet has been working constantly and he’s got a few projects set to come out soon…with one of them being Screen Gems Priest (which was the reason I got to speak with him at Comic-Con).

During the interview we talked about how he got involved with Priest and what the film’s about.  We also talked about why he’s so press shy, what it’s like being back at Comic-Con, his thoughts on 3D movies, what does he take away from being in the Twilight franchise.  He also revealed he’s been cast in director Joel Schumacher’s Trespass alongside Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman.  Hit the jump to watch the interview:

Nicole Kidman Will TRESSPASS with Nicolas Cage, Co-Author HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN with Clive Owen

No doubt Nicole Kidman’s agent has been busy lately, as the actress has just signed on to two projects opposite a pair of high profile leading men: Nicolas Cage and Clive Owen.  Joel Schumacher (Twelve) will direct Kidman and Cage in the action-adventure film Trespass.  According to Variety, the script from Karl Gajdusek and Eli Richbourg follows “a husband and wife taken hostage by four brutal perpetrators seeking easy cash. Complications ensue amid the unexpected discovery of betrayal and deception.” Nu Image/Milleninum Films is targeting an August start date in Louisiana, likely ending in time for Cage to star in either Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance or National Treasure 3.

Hit the jump for the details on Kidman’s other project, the HBO movie Hemingway & Gellhorn.
