If you aren’t excited for the sequel to “Tron”, you need to watch this concept trailer. About half way through you’re going to be very excited to see the further adventures of Kevin Flynn in late 2010. So to help you make it to the release date, at this year’s Comic-Con I was able to speak with the three leads in “Tron Legacy” – Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde – and the video interview is after the jump. I’ve also provided the synopsis since most of you probably haven’t seen it.

At last year’s Comic-Con, Disney surprised the audience of Hall H with a concept trailer for “Tron Legacy”. Needless to say, the crowd went crazy as no one expected the see anything from the sequel to “Tron” last year. Since then, the trailer has existed in one form or another on YouTube and other sites, but we’ve never had a high quality release of the footage…until now!
So after the jump, take a look at the first footage from “Tron 2″. Please keep in mind, none of what you are watching is in the actual movie, it’s all concept stuff. But it’s Oh. My. God. Awesome to look at. And this is the same clip I saw at this year’s ShoWest that made me lose my mind. If you weren’t excited for a sequel to “Tron”, I promise you will be after watching this footage!

I knew this year’s Comic Con was going to do something awesome to promote ‘Tron Legacy’ coming out sometime in 2010 or 2011, but it’s been mostly speculation as to what it would be. Before the con and during the panel this morning they passed out Flynn’s Arcade tokens, so most bets were that they brought the arcade to comic con.
And they did! So after the jump you can see some images I shot from inside the event – which includes the new lightcycle!

“This was a giant, very expensive student film,” joked Jeff Bridges while discussing Disney’s upcoming Tron Legacy. “There was always a feeling of let’s figure it out.” Indeed, it seems that this spirit of pioneering was present through all aspects of the movie as Star Jeff Bridges, Director Joe Kosinski, Producer Sean Bailey, and original Tron Director/Writer Steve Lisberger (along with a few other cast member guests) discussed the future of one of the longest awaited sequels in the nerd culture lexicon. Shooting on Tron Legacy (aka Tr2n, aka Tron 2) may have only wrapped a week ago, but the Tron team had a lot to say about its future. Hit the jump to find out why the stars (and microchips) finally aligned for Tron fans, how Jeff Bridges feels about facing off against his younger self, and how this all these computer characters find their roots in the old west.

Like many other websites, Collider received a package this morning from San Diego and inside were two coins and a flash drive. As you can see, the coins are related to the movie “Tron” and they say ‘Flynn’s Arcade’ on one side and ‘Home of Tron’ on the other. Since Disney is promoting the sequel to “Tron” at this year’s Comic-Con, this package can only mean one thing: something very special is being planned for convention goers and these coins are the key. Want to know more, it’s after the jump:

Peter from Slashfilm is a good friend of mine. At least a few times a week we talk about upcoming movies, TV shows, what gossip each of us have heard, and anything else we might find exciting. Since a number of our conversations cover things you also might find interesting, we’ve decided to start recording certain conversations as video blogs.
With Comic-Con on the horizon (it begins this Wednesday), we thought it would be a good idea to talk about the convention — our predictions, a preview, a look at some of the most anticipated films (Tron 2, Avatar, Iron Man 2, Kick-Ass), thoughts on the past and the future of the con, possible surprises, some of the films which might not be appearing, and why its so damn important and cool.
So if you’re excited about Comic-Con, hopefully you’ll find this video blog a nice preview. Finally, we’ll both be at the Con providing coverage, so check back later this week. Watch the video after the jump, and leave your thoughts in the comments below.
