Waiting sucks. So say the creative team behind HBO’s vampire/werewolf/faerie/witch melodrama, True Blood. This time around they’ve crafted a teaser that’s a bit more sinister as fans of the show’s previous seasons will appreciate. While the teaser doesn’t show any footage, it’s a nice reminder that summer is just around the bend and with it comes another season of True Blood. New episodes start June 24th.
The wait is a lot less longer for the second half of The Walking Dead’s second season. Although the episode “Nebraska” airs on February 12th, you can watch the first four minutes here. Hit the jump to check them both out.

It’s official; Christopher Meloni is coming back to HBO. Eight years after his stint on the cable channel’s first dramatic original series Oz, the Law and Order: SVU actor is headed to HBO’s True Blood. We previously reported that the actor was being courted to join season five of Alan Ball’s vampire-infused series, but TV Line now confirms that Meloni’s deal has closed. The actor is joining the cast as a series regular, and will play “An ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.”
True Blood has gotten increasingly batshit crazy, having crossed over fully into the soap opera realm long ago. After a lackluster third season, the show gained some steam (slightly) this past year with a few more interesting storylines. Season four ended with an intriguing tease for the upcoming season, and I’ve no doubt that Meloni will make for a much-welcomed addition. The actor recently filmed a role in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel. The fifth season of True Blood is set to air next summer.

Last spring, fans of both Law & Order: SVU and Christopher Meloni took quite a blow as the actor suddenly left the long-running series. However, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be off the flickering box for too long as TV Line has word that Meloni is being courted to take a major role in the fifth season of True Blood on HBO. Not too many details are known about his character other than that Meloni will play an incredibly powerful vampire. Meloni has acting chops on both the dramatic and comedic side, so he can certainly be a bloodsucking force to reckon with, but hopefully with some villainous sarcasm and humor as well. It doesn’t sound like the casting is official yet, but this would be a great addition to the cast as the series seems to spiral a bit out of control.

Supernaturals are a dime a dozen on HBO’s True Blood, but they seem to die off as often as they’re resurrected. To inject some foreign flair into season five, True Blood has cast Italian actress, Valentina Cervi (Miracle at St. Anna) as a fanged regular. In other HBO news, Game of Thrones has cast a major character in their much-anticipated return for season two. Edward Dogliani will appear as the wilding raider known as the Lord of Bones. His character from the George R.R. Martin adaptation will go mano-a-mano with Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Finally, CBS’s Criminal Minds has cast Dean Cain (Lois & Clark) as a villainous gambler for an episode set to air in early 2012. Hit the jump for more on each casting.

As I type these words, I’m sitting in my hotel room in Bucharest. I’m here in Romania for something that I’ll write about at some point next year. However, while walking towards Old Town (a very popular location filled with bars and restaurants) with a few people tonight, I came across an awesome viral campaign for True Blood that I had to share.
While True Blood has already aired the 4th season on HBO in the United States, over in Romania, the show only returned a few days ago. So to help promote it, someone had the great idea to take a busy fountain in the center of town and turn it blood red. Trust me, it looks fantastic and it’s one of the coolest viral campaigns I’ve seen. Hit the jump for some images and I also shot some video on my flip.

FX’s psycho-sexual thriller American Horror Story, from executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, revolves around the Harmons, a family of three who moved from Boston to Los Angeles as a means of reconciling personal anguish and getting a fresh start. But, they quickly discover that their new home comes with its own kind of baggage, as numerous heinous and terrifying acts have occurred there, and the property itself seems to have a strange effect on its residents.
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Denis O’Hare talked about the mysterious burned man that he plays on the show, how he sees Larry Harvey as both sympathetic and scary, the more than three hours of detailed make-up work he goes through to bring the character to life, and how he sees this as a show about our deepest fears. He also talked about how excited he is now that the door has been opened for Russell Edgington to return to True Blood in Season 5, his love for his character on The Good Wife, the experience of doing a role in Clint Eastwood upcoming drama J. Edgar, and that he’s preparing for a one-man show. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

At this year’s Toronto Film Festival, I was able to speak with Evan Rachel Wood about starring in director George Clooney’s political drama The Ides of March. Co-starring Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and Jeffrey Wright, the pic takes place during the tension-filled days leading up to an all-important Ohio presidential primary where a press secretary (Gosling) finds himself in the middle of a scandal that could upend his candidate’s (Clooney) shot at winning. Loaded with great performances and a smart script, The Ides of March is really well done and definitely worth your time.
During the interview, Wood talked about how she got involved in the project, working with the great cast, filming in Ohio, the kind of research she does for her roles, and what she takes away from being on True Blood. In addition, Wood revealed she really wants to do a stoner comedy. Hit the jump to watch the interview and Wood doing some Janis Joplin.

On the hit HBO series True Blood, actress Lauren Bowles plays Bon Temps waitress Holly Cleary, who is also a practicing Wiccan. As part of a coven with Merlotte’s cook Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and his boyfriend, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), she realized that she was in totally over her head when powerful coven leader Marnie (Fiona Shaw) started slaughtering not only vampires, but members of her own coven.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Lauren Bowles talked about how landing the role was a dream come true for her, that she was a fan of the show since the pilot, how awesome this cast has been to work with, that she lives in fear of ruining the twists and surprises when she does interviews, and how things are going to get even crazier in the Season 4 finale. She also talked about how much she enjoyed playing half of a married couple, with her own husband (actor Patrick Fischler), on Larry David’s HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. On the hit HBO series True Blood, wrapping up its fourth season on September 11th, actor Chris Bauer plays Bon Temps Sheriff Andy Bellefleur. Unappreciated by his town, he tends to use his authority to his advantage, no matter how much it turns off his friends and neighbors. With the addition of a V (vampire blood) addiction this year, he has become more alienated and socially awkward than ever.
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Chris Bauer (previously known for his work as Frank Sobotka on HBO’s The Wire) talked about bonding with Alan Ball over a cup of coffee before he was offered the role, making the most of the screen time that he is given, how Andy has realized this season that he can’t do everything alone, how he’d love to see Andy learn to relate to someone on an emotional and intimate level, and that it’s been a challenge to continue to humanize the character. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

On the HBO vampire series True Blood, actor Kevin Alejandro plays Jesus, the handsome nurse who caught the eye of Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) when he was taking care of his mother. As Season 4 has brought the witches to the forefront of the story, and Jesus and Lafayette have been learning just how powerful they are, they’ve gotten closer and their relationship has gotten stronger, their love for each other only growing while they try to save the humans in their tiny town of Bon Temps from an inevitable vampire showdown.
During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, Kevin Alejandro talked about how cool it is to be a part of a show he was already a fan of, that he feels this season has found a good balance between all of the stories and characters, how much he enjoys playing scenes with Nelsan Ellis, how flattered he is by the fan reaction to the show, and that everyone is sure to be amazed by the craziness of the season finale. The Caller is a chilling and creepy supernatural thriller about a young troubled divorcee that is being obsessively harassed via telephone by a mad woman who insists she is calling from the past. When Mary Kee (Rachelle Lefevre) begins to receive mysterious phone calls from a woman named Rose (Lorna Raver), she questions the woman’s honesty and motives. As the phone calls become more and more disturbing, Mary’s terror escalates and she cuts all contact with the voice on the other end of the line, leaving Rose enraged and threatening to exact revenge, not on Mary in the present, but on Mary as a child in the past. After learning some of Rose’s history from George (Luis Guzman), whose family has been at the apartment since her time there, and with the help of John (Stephen Moyer), who’s trying to make sense of what’s going on, Mary realizes that she has to kill Rose in order to save herself, but has no idea how to stop someone living 30 years in the past.
During an exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Stephen Moyer talked about being struck by the old filmmaking traditions in The Caller, shooting his role in just nine days, what the location of Puerto Rico added to the mood of the already eerie story, and how astonishing and mesmerizing he found his co-star Rachelle Lefevre’s performance. He also talked about what his True Blood character, Bill Compton, has learned from everything he’s had to go through this season, how he’s really enjoyed developing the bond between Bill and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), how the show always keeps him guessing, and that he’s going to do a low-budget thriller with Radha Mitchell, called Evidence, before starting Season 5 of the HBO vampire series in December. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

On the HBO vampire series True Blood, actress Kristin Bauer van Straten plays fan favorite character Pam. As the offspring and primary aide of Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), her lethal instinct and keen fashion sense have made her a force to be reckoned with, and one of the most quoted characters on the show. With her Maker currently suffering from amnesia and her face rotting with no sign of repair, thanks to some nasty spells from a witch coven, Season 4 has had some crazy twists and turns for Pam, which are sure to get even crazier, as things head toward the season finale.
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Kristin Bauer van Straten talked about following her instincts when it comes to playing Pam, what it’s like to be remembered for her great one-liners rather than the nude scenes that much of the other cast has been known to do, how she still hasn’t gotten completely used to talking with the fangs, how much fun it’s been to explore a whole new side to Pam and her relationship with Eric, and how she can’t wait to get to work on Season 5 and learn about her character’s genesis in becoming a vampire. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

On Season 4 of the hit HBO vampire series True Blood, actress Courtney Ford plays Portia Bellefleur, sister of Andy (Chris Bauer) and granddaughter of Caroline (Katherine Helmond), who is a confident lawyer, very proud of her family heritage. Things were really shaken up this season, when Portia unexpectedly and rather shockingly found out that she was the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), but that didn’t deter her desire to get involved with him sexually. However, on account of the torch that he’s still carrying for Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), which proves insurmountable for him, he used vampire magic to ensure that Portia would lose interest.
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Courtney Ford talked about being a fan of the show and auditioning for two other roles before landing the role of Portia, learning to overcome her own anxieties of being nude on camera, how worried she was about the fan reaction to Portia coming between Bill and Sookie, the challenge of being so secretive about the show and her role, and how gracious the cast was to work with. She also talked about what she enjoys about working with her husband, actor Brandon Routh, with whom she co-stars in the upcoming drama film Missing William. Today the fine folks at No Shit Monthly published the completely unsurprising news that one of HBO’s most popular shows, True Blood, has been picked up for a fifth season. Like every previous season, the fifth season will have 12 episodes. Season 5 will premiere sometime in summer 2012. When asked about the renewal, frustrated Collider writer Matt Goldberg replied, “I see the last few minutes of True Blood as I wait for the following HBO program to come on. Nothing I’ve seen has ever made me want to watch the previous 55 minutes.” John K. Whyisthisnews provided additional reporting on this story.

Six episodes into Season 4 of True Blood, things are definitely heating up in the small, sexy town of Bon Temps, where vampires, werewolves, witches and all things supernatural are becoming more commonplace than the humans. Although everyone with the show is always very tight-lipped, when it comes to plot reveals, during the HBO portion of the TCA Press Tour, co-stars and real-life husband and wife, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, talked about Sookie’s stubborn streak, how they enjoys the tension in the relationship between Bill and Sookie because it makes for interesting television, the ability to pitch possible storylines, how the cast is always trying to get tidbits about the story and their characters out of the writers, and how incredibly talented the entire cast is.
