A new promo image for director Lars von Trier’s very curious new film Nymphomaniac has been released. The drama picked up considerable attention last year when we learned that the film’s actors will be performing unsimulated sex acts in the pic, which stars Charlotte Gainsbourgh as a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts her life story to Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), an old, charming bachelor who finds Gainsbourhough’s character beaten up in an alley. This promo image highlights the film’s cast—which includes Willem Dafoe, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, and Christian Slater—as they’re shown in various suggestive positions.
Von Trier is currently editing Part Two of the film, but Nymphomaniac is slated to debut on December 25th in Denmark, with a rollout in other territories (including the U.S.) to follow via Magnolia Pictures. Hit the jump to check out the image.

We have a few casting stories for you this afternoon. First up, Bruce Willis is set to lead the thriller Expiration. According to Variety, Willis plays “a hitman who is poisoned and has to find a cure before he expires.” So it’s like D.O.A. but probably with a lot more killing of other people. The film is currently in negotiations for a director, and the script is from Broken City scribe Brian Tucker. What’s slightly damning about this production is that it’s from producers Randall Emmett and George Furla. The duo previously produced the Willis films Setup and Fire with Fire. While Willis didn’t lead those movies, they still went direct-to-DVD. Then again, they also co-starred talking mannequin 50 Cent, so perhaps Expiration will be better if they leave him out of it.

The Peter Farrelly ensemble comedy stars everyone you’ve ever heard of in Hollywood and even some you haven’t. Movie 43 has released another red-band trailer previously, but the new one mostly focuses on a stream of improv from Jason Sudeikis who is admiring Kristen Bell’s crotch.

We’ve got a couple of interesting casting stories to share this afternoon. First up, a trio of fine actors has joined Liam Neeson in the airplane thriller Non-Stop, raising my interest in the project significantly. Variety reports that Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly), and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) have joined Non-Stop for director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) and producer Joel Silver. Neeson stars as a federal air marshal “who starts receiving text messages from someone claiming to be on the same flight, and who is threatening to kill its passengers.” Naturally, Neeson must discover the identity of the killer and stop him. Hit the jump for more, including casting news concerning Lars von Trier’s controversial Nymphomaniac.

The first trailer for Gabriele Muccino‘s (The Pursuit of Happyness) comedy-drama Playing for Keeps (formerly titled Playing the Field) has been released. Gerard Butler stars as a former soccer star who decides to coach his son’s little league soccer team, but ends up becoming the object of attraction for the local town’s women. The schmaltzy trailer is kind of all over the place, as Butler is seen alternatively cracking jokes and being depressed. The supporting cast is fine, with Jessica Biel playing Butler’s ex-wife and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing a love interest who could also revitalize Butler’s career, but the story seems to be covering the well-worn territory of a single dad who pines for the greatness of his earlier life at the expense of his relationship with his son/family. That said, the film might prove fairly enticing to families looking for a light, heartwarming story during the holidays that doesn’t involve short hairy half-lings or a singing Hugh Jackman.

After yesterday’s brief teaser, the full trailer for Oliver Stone‘s Savages has gone online. The film stars Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson as two Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins who encounter a world of trouble when their shared girlfriend (Blake Lively) is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. The movie looks like a fun change of pace for Stone, and a bit of a throwback to Natural Born Killers, but without the muddled message on violence and media. I wouldn’t be surprised if Stone has worked in a comment on America’s War on Drugs, but at least it looks like he’s surrounded it with a slam-bang action flick.

Earlier this week, we showed you the first poster for Oliver Stone‘s crime-thriller Savages. Today, teaser footage from the film has been released. The film stars Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson as two Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins who encounter a world of trouble when their shared girlfriend (Blake Lively) is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. You won’t gather any of that from the 15-seconds of footage, but you will pick up that Stone has taken a page from Tony Scott‘s playbook of sweaty characters and over-saturated cinematography.
Hit the jump to check out the footage. The film also stars Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Demian Bichir, Emile Hirsch, Uma Thurman, and John Travolta. Savages opens July 6th.

The domestic trailer for the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s 1886 novel Bel Ami has gone online. The film stars Robert Pattinson as an ambitious young journalist who works his way up the social and professional ranks through a series of affairs with influential women. The trailer basically highlights Pattinson getting his seduction on, then tries to shoehorn in a bit about his character being redeemable. Call me crazy, but I don’t really find the tale of a liar wooing a bevy of women to be that interesting. I’m sure Pattinson’s fans will get a kick out of watching his bedroom eyes for two hours, but I’m eager to see the actor stretch his dramatic chops on a project that isn’t focused entirely on sex (or the lack thereof).
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christina Ricci, and Colm Meaney. Bel Ami will be available VOD on May 4th and opens in theaters on June 8th.

Now that the film has a firm U.S. release date, the U.S. poster for the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel Bel Ami has gone online. It’s pretty terribly done, with Robert Pattinson front and center surrounded by the very photoshopped Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas against an ugly background. Furthermore, Pattison appears to be giving the viewer either his bedroom eyes or a death stare.
Hit the jump to check out the poster, and if you missed it be sure to watch Steve’s interview with Thurman about the film. Bel Ami will be available VOD on May 4th and opens in theaters on June 8th.

Don’t say I never did anything for you, Robert Pattinson fans. 19 new images and a TV spot have been released for the period drama Bel Ami. The film takes place in 1890s Paris and centers on an impoverished man (Pattinson) who discovers that he can climb the social ladder by having sex with rich women. Looking at the images and watching the TV spot, Bel Ami strikes me as Robert Pattinson porn. I don’t think there’s going to be graphic sex in the movie, but basically the story and characters are simply a pretext for Pattinson to seduce every single straight woman in the audience. If that’s why you want to see Bel Ami, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. If you want to see Bel Ami for its costume design, then you’ll also probably like what you see. So to recap: Bel Ami appeals to 1) fans of Robert Pattinson; 2) fans of 1890s Parisian couture.
Hit the jump to check out the images and TV spot. The film also stars Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas. Bel Ami opens in the UK on March 9th. Sony acquired the film at AFM but it’s currently without a US release date.

The film is an adaptation of the 1885 Guy de Maupassant novel and stars Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman, and Kristin Scott Thomas. This Bel Ami tease comes by way of a sizzle reel intended to pique interest at the Berlin Film Festival where the film is premiering.
