Jason Segel is such a charming, funny and genuinely nice guy that it’s easy to like him, as a person and as an actor. The fact that he has the talent to back all that up makes it impossible not to be a fan. In the new raunchy comedy Bad Teacher, starring Cameron Diaz as the inappropriately foul-mouthed and ruthless middle school teacher Elizabeth Halsey, Segel plays happy-go-lucky gym teacher Russell Gettis. Unfazed by rejection, he keeps flirting with and pursuing Elizabeth, even though she has told him that it’s never going to happen because he’s just not rich enough for her.

At the film’s press day, Jason Segel spoke to Collider for this exclusive interview, in which he talked about working non-stop while juggling films with his television series How I Met Your Mother, his relationship with Rush since shooting I Love You, Man, how much fun he had working opposite Cameron Diaz for Bad Teacher, and the tremendous respect he has for Justin Timberlake. He also talked about what attracted him to Jeff Who Lives at Home (he’s seen the film and says it’s fantastic), The Muppets being a dream project, how great the Freaks & Geeks / Undeclared reunion was at PaleyFest earlier this year, how much he’s been enjoying shooting The Five-Year Engagement with Nic Stoller, and that he’d really like to eat a Reuben, once he’s done playing a leading man for that film. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

March is a great month for people who like things en masse. There's March Madness, of course, for fans of college basketball. There's SXSW for lovers of movies and/or music. And for the TV geek, there's PaleyFest. This year's line-up features a metric ton of panels for The Walking Dead, True Blood, White Collar, Hot in Cleveland, Parks & Recreation, Eastbound & Down, Supernatural, American Idol, Community, Glee, and Raising Hope. But the big draw has to be "An Evening with Jimmy Fallon." Wait -- that can't be right.

Oh, no it's the combined Freaks & Geeks/Undeclared panel moderated by Judd Apatow. Those shows launched more than their share of careers, including Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, and Jason Segel -- all official guests. Freak James Franco isn't listed, but given how busy he likes to keep, my fingers are crossed for a surprise appearance as one of the "additional members of the casts & creative teams."

PaleyFest 2011 unfolds March 4-17 at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles. Hit the jump to see the full list of panelists.

Buy your tickets here.

Opening Night: The Walking Dead (Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m.)

We previously heard that there was likely going to be a reunion of the cast and producers of Judd Apatow's coming-of-age high school series Freaks and Geeks, but this is even better. Today Variety revealed some of the panels for the Paley Festival which will take place in March of 2011, and not only will the panel feature Freaks and Geeks alumni, but it will also have the cast of the pseudo-sequel college comedy Undeclared. No specific names are mentioned as for the attendees, but that panel is going to be amazing.

But if that's not your cup of tea, the Paley Festival will also feature the casts of True Blood and The Walking Dead (they also mention the "cast" of American Idol, but we don't really care). Next year the Paley Festival takes place from March 4th-18th and the rest of the line-up will be announced on January 19th which is also when ticket packages will be available. Individual panel tickets go on sale to Paley Center members January 21st and to the general public on January 23rd. For more information on getting tickets or to become a member of the Paley Center, head on over to their official website.

I've been a fan of Jason Segel's work for a long time. While some of you still haven't seen Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, if you haven't, you're missing out on great television and some fantastic work by Segel. But even though both of those shows died well before their time, Segel's landed on his feet, as he's one of the stars of the very popular CBS show How I Met Your Mother, and he's even been the leading man in a big Hollywood movie - Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Anyway, with the 3D CGI movie Despicable Me opening tomorrow, I was able to talk with Segel as a reporter for our partners at Omelete. During the almost 6 minute interview, we talked about Brazil, the World Cup, what got him involved in Despicable Me, his next film Jeff Who Lives at Home (directed by The Duplass Brothers), and he gave me updates on The Muppet Movie and Nicholas Stoller's Five-Year Engagement - which he said is about the fluidity of relationships in your 20's. He also said he hopes to shoot this next spring as his hiatus movie. It's a great interview, so hit the jump to check it out:

Finally, you can watch 10 clips from Despicable Me by clicking here.

IFC has announced via press release that they've acquired the syndication rights for two Judd Apatow-produced series, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. The notice is short (Freaks reruns start airing Friday July 2 at 11/10c), but the news is fantastic. Created by Paul Feig in 1999, the high school dramedy Freaks and Geeks was cancelled after one season but helped launch the careers of Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Jason Segel. The college sitcom Undeclared launched shortly after in 2001 with Jay Baruchel at the center, and likewise lasted only one season; Undeclared will debut on IFC in the fall.

After the jump, check out the fall premiere dates for such CW shows as The Vampire Diaries, Smallville, and Supernatural, as well as details on the Comic-Con visit of NBC conspiracy thriller The Event.

ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox typically kick off the fall season toward the end of September, but as always The CW will get started a bit earlier:

Wednesday, Sept. 8
8:00-9:00 p.m. “AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL” (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 p.m. “HELLCATS” (Series Premiere)

Thursday, Sept. 9
8:00-9:00 p.m. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 p.m. “NIKITA” (Series Premiere)

Monday, Sept. 13
8:00-9:00 p.m. “90210” (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 p.m. “GOSSIP GIRL” (Season Premiere)

Tuesday, Sept. 14
8:00-9:00 p.m. “ONE TREE HILL” (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 p.m. “LIFE UNEXPECTED” (Season Premiere)

Friday, September 24
8:00-9:00 p.m. “SMALLVILLE” (Season Premiere)

I first noticed Jay Baruchel in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, as he was Led Zeppelin's most fervent fan. A few years later, he was the lead on Judd Apatow's short lived - but still awesome - Undeclared. He played a character named Steven Karp and he was the one that constantly struggled with how to get the girl. After the show ended, he appeared in films like Million Dollar Baby, Fanboys, Knocked Up, and Tropic Thunder. But since Undeclared, he hasn't been the lead....until now.

That's because opening this weekend is She's Out of My League and it's the first big Hollywood movie where Jay is the lead. As a big fan of his work, I couldn't be more excited for this very talented actor. The premise is Baruchel plays an average Joe - with not much going for him - when out of the blue a successful and gorgeous woman falls for him. He's stunned. So are his friends. He then starts to wonder, how can he keep the girl?

To help promote the film, I recently got to speak with Baruchel in New York City. Check out our conversation after the jump. It's a good one.

Finally, here's 4 clips from the movie, here's the red band trailer, and a big thank you to our partners at Omelete for making this interview happen.
