He’s remained mostly off the grid since The X-Files was on the air (aside from the two feature film adaptations that happened 10 years apart), but now series creator Chris Carter is coming back to television with a new show. THR has word that Carter is writing and executive producing a mystery police thriller called Unique with a female lead character and supernatural elements. The project is set up at Media Rights Capital, but no network is involved yet. It remains to be seen if Carter can rake in the same number of fans who tuned into the popular sci-fi series which aired on Fox from 1993 to 2002 (especially since the 2008 sequel film The X-Files: I Want to Believe was truly a disappointment on almost every level), but I’m sure networks will be paying attention since Carter has been in demand despite being off the radar.

Comic book publishing company Platinum Studios, not to be confused with Platinum Dunes, will be joining forces with producer Tony Krantz (“Mulholland Dr.”) to develop a live-action adaptation of the graphic novel “Mal Chance” with Scott Murphy (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, “Angel”) writing the screenplay. The graphic novel which tells the story of an assassin named Lola who has been targeted for death by a powerful gangster will be joining the recently announced “Cowboys and Aliens” as one of the new Platinum Studious properties which aim to make it to the big screen soon.
