With Welcome to The Rileys, director Jake Scott has created a quiet, thoughtful, very watchable drama, a film where James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo (up for an Oscar this year for her work in The Fighter), and Kristen Stewart play a trio of damaged people all looking for someone to fix them. The film didn’t set the box office on fire, but now that it’s on Blu-ray and DVD, should you pick up a copy? Find out after the jump:

The first theatrical trailer for Jake Scott’s Welcome to the Rileys has gone online. An official selection at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the drama stars James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo as a husband and wife whose relationship struggles stem from the death of their daughter which leads to Gandolfini moving out and befriending a stripper played by Kristen Stewart.
Early reviews from the festival circuit cite the three leads as being particularly strong in their respective roles and, while perhaps a touch heavy on the melodrama, the first trailer does little to contrast that stance. This in mind, hit the jump to check out the trailer for yourself. Welcome to the Rileys hits theaters November 5th, 2010.

After running for 10 days and showing over 200 feature films, shorts, and music videos, this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival finally came to a close on Sunday. In my final write up you can read which films won the major prizes and my thoughts on the festival along with my mini-reviews on a couple of films including the Australian crime film Animal Kingdom, the documentary Freakonomics, the Chilean martial arts film Mandrill, the British comedy about suicide bombers Four Lions, the recently much buzzed about Monsters, and Welcome to the Rileys starring James Gandolfini and Kristen Stewart. My write up after the jump:

With the 2010 Sundance Film Festival a little over a month away, the first images from films playing at the festival have begun to come online. One of the more highly anticipated films at Sundance is Jake Scott’s Welcome to the Rileys starring Kristen Stewart, Melissa Leo, and James Gandolfini. We have the first three images from the film for after the jump. We’ve also included the full synopsis after the images but be warned that it gives you almost the entire plot.
The 2010 Sundance Film Festival will take place from January 21 to January 31, 2010.
