With his latest film, Flight, now in theaters, director Robert Zemeckis reflected on his past movies in a recent interview. Among the pictures discussed was Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a 1988 classic that starred Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd opposite a cavalcade of cartoon critters. Not only did Zemeckis entertain the idea of re-releasing Who Framed Roger Rabbit in post-converted 3D, but he also gave an update on the state of the sequel. Penned by the original writers Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman, Zemeckis said he was happy with the script and that it was quite good. Hit the jump for more, including whether or not Zemeckis thinks any of his other films are due for the 3D treatment or a reboot.

Opening this weekend is writer/director Tony Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy.  For those unfamiliar with the franchise reboot, this time around, a government task force led by Edward Norton‘s character is assassinating all their genetically-modified assets to prevent another Bourne situation.  However, one member of the program, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), manages to escape with a scientist (Rachel Weisz), and the two go on the run for their lives.  The film also stars Oscar Isaac, Joan Allen, David Strathairn, Albert Finney, Stacy Keach, Scott Glenn, Corey Stoll, and Donna Murphy.  For more on the film, here’s five clips.

At the recent Los Angeles press day, I landed an exclusive interview with producer Frank Marshall (insane resume here).  During our wide ranging conversation, we talked about  making The Bourne Legacy, deleted scenes, extended cuts, test screenings, and more.  In addition, since Marshall has produced so many awesome movies, we also talked about how close Who Framed Roger Rabbit came to getting a sequel, the likelihood of Indiana Jones 5 happening, Jurassic Park 3D and Jurassic Park 4, whether anyone has talked about rebooting the Back to the Future movies, the amazing Nike Back to the Future sneakers, The Secret Life of Houdini, the remake of Tell No One, and so much more.  Hit the jump for what he had to say.

THE LION KING Going 3D and ROGER RABBIT 2 Move Forward, but THE SNOW QUEEN Goes into Cold Storage

Disney will follow up Beauty and the Beast 3D with The Lion King 3D.  Speaking with producer Don Hahn in London, Empire got some quick info about upcoming Disney projects.  While there’s still no release date for the 3D version of 1991′s Beauty and the Beast (it was originally slated to open in February before it was pulled from the schedule; it’s now projected to open sometime in 2011), the studio is already working on giving the 3D treatment to The Lion King.  Said Hahn, “I’m actually trying to work out a 3D conversion of The Lion King. I’ll be doing that when I go back to the States in a couple of weeks.”  However, he added that we shouldn’t expect to see the final product any time soon.

He also provided a brief update on Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2—which hired the original writers to pen a script back in November—saying that while there hasn’t been much news on the project, it’s still moving forward.  “If you’re a fan, pretty soon you’re going to be very, very, very happy.”  Roger Rabbit 2 will be, unsurprisingly, in 3D.  Hahn also provided an update on the adaptation of a classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Snow Queen.  Hit the jump for what he had to say on that project.
