Humanistic Films has announced a summer 2011 start date for the high school movie The Science of Cool. Steve Guttenberg, Kiowa Gordon (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), and Eden Sher (The Middle) have joined the cast, which includes The O.C. co-stars Mischa Barton and Willa Holland, Drew Van Acker (Tower Prep), Guy Kent (The Day the Music Died), Matt Dallas (Kyle XY), and Rumer Willis (Sorority Row). The plot centers on “two high school nerds who discover a secret chemical formula when a science experiment goes terribly wrong that transforms them into the coolest kids in school; but with greatness comes great consequences.”
The film has been in development for a few years now — Eric and Patricia Goren first wrote the script in 2008. At one point Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) and Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights) were attached, but sadly both dropped out due to prior commitments. William Zabka is on board to direct.

Opening tomorrow is writer/director Scott Stewart‘s Legion. The movie stars Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Adrianne Palicki, Charles S. Dutton, Jon Tenney, Kevin Durand, Willa Holland, Kate Walsh and Dennis Quaid. Here’s the synopsis:
Legion find a dusty diner in the Mojave Desert becomes ground zero for earth’s final showdown, in this startlingly original and terrifying vision of the Apocalypse. As mankind destroys itself in a savage fury, a small group of people trapped on the edge of nowhere prepare to make a last stand with the help of a mysterious and powerful stranger.

During the interview, we talked about what got him involved in Legion, how many tweets is too many in one day, the Gladis scene, his thoughts on the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen reviews, and I tried to find out what’s up with Transformers 3. It’s a great interview so take a look:

To help promote the film, we’ve been given 6 clips and a featurette. You can watch everything after the jump:

A few weeks ago I got to see about twenty minutes from Screen Gems upcoming movie Legion. While I didn’t see enough footage to say if the final film is going to be worth our time, one of the clips they showed us was great, and it just so happens Screen Gems released a clip from the scene today. Since I’d rather not spoil it, hit the jump and check it out. But I will say it involves a grandma named Gladys…

Last week I went to Sony Studios for a set visit on Priest. While I’m embargoed from saying anything on that film, while I was there, we were shown around 20 minutes from Screen Gems upcoming Legion, and we were also provided a number of new images from the film.
If you’re not familiar with Legion, it’s a supernatural action thriller where an out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race. When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany). Legion also stars Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Kate Walsh, Adrianne Palicki, Charles S. Dutton and Willa Holland.
