Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: Yep, still pretty good. Mel Stuart’s 1971 musical adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic gets the Warner Bros. 1080p Blu-ray box set treatment for it’s 40th Anniversary. For a full review of the DVD/Blu-ray set, hit the jump.

If you’re a fan of mash up trailers, you’re going to want to check out WONKA: Legacy. That’s because ChiefBrodyRules on YouTube has cut together a trailer that features the visuals of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the audio of TRON: Legacy Trailer 3.
While some mash up trailers start strong and then sputter out, I think this one is solid throughout. I also like the way he brought in Johnny Depp towards the end as Klu. Hit the jump to check it out. I’ve also posted a bonus mash up of Toy Story and Fight Club.

I love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Partly because of nostalgia. It’s shot like a TV movie. Painfully so at times. But the moral play works well enough, and Gene Wilder gives a hell of a performance. On the edge of malice and crazy, he walks it. On that level, I prefer it to Tim Burton’s over-stylized and otherwise empty remake. My Review after the jump.
