When Disney took the stage for their CinemaCon 2012 presentation yesterday afternoon, they didn’t mess around.  Loaded with footage, movie stars, filmmakers and information, the presentation was definitely aimed at letting exhibitors around the world know that the Disney umbrella (which now includes Pixar, Marvel, Walt Disney films, and distributing DreamWorks live-action films) is loaded with a lot of big properties and they have no intention of slowing down.  While some of the upcoming properties just had the stars and filmmakers talking about the movie (The Lone Ranger), others like Frankenweenie had Tim Burton on stage with Sean Bailey (President of Production at Disney) talking about why he wanted to make a stop-motion black and white movie, followed by the screening of a full scene.

In addition to what I just mentioned, Kevin Fiege from Marvel talked about Iron Man 3, Captain America 2, Thor 2, and The Avengers.  Pixar’s John Lasseter talked about their next four years of movies including director Lee Unkrich‘s untitled Dia de los Muertos movie, Bob Peterson‘s The Good Dinosaur, Pete Docter‘s untitled movie, Monsters University (including world premieriing the teaser trailer) and a clip of Finding Nemo in 3D and the first 30 minutes of Brave.  More after the jump.

Poster Roundup: WRECK-IT RALPH, THE HOST, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, HYSTERIA, and COSMOPOLIS

We’ve got a few new posters to share with you today.  Briefly:

• Wreck-It Ralph – The teaser poster for Disney’s new animated film which takes place in the world of video games and centers on an 8-bit arcade villain voiced by John C. Reilly.
• The Host – The first poster for director Andrew Niccol’s adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi novel The Host.  Saoirse Ronan stars as a young girl whose body has become host to an alien invader.
• Safety Not Guaranteed – A new poster for this indie based on a real-life classified ad calling for a time-travel companion.  Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, and Jake Johnson star.
• Hysteria – The US poster for this romantic comedy based on the invention of the vibrator.  The film stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy, and Felicity Jones.
• Cosmopolis – The French poster for director David Cronenberg’s financial crisis-centered thriller starring Robert Pattinson.

Jane Lynch Talks THE THREE STOOGES, WRECK-IT RALPH, A.C.O.D., the PARTY DOWN Movie, and GLEE

In the all-new contemporary take on The Three Stooges, from Peter and Bobby Farrelly, actress Jane Lynch plays Mother Superior, the head nun at the orphanage where newborns Moe, Larry and Curly were left on the doorstep.  Now adults (and played by Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso), they set out to help out the nuns, which also include Sister Mary-Mengele (Larry David) and Sister Rosemary (Jennifer Hudson), and raise enough money to save their childhood home, with all of the pratfalls and slapstick comedy that they’re famous for.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, the always funny and charming Jane Lynch talked about talked about her first exposure to The Three Stooges, how blown away she was to see them brought back to life so meticulously, how she got involved with the film, her most memorable moment with Larry David, working with Jennifer Hudson as a singing nun, wearing a nun’s habit in Atlanta in the summer, and what made Peter and Bobby Farrelly the right filmmakers to bring The Three Stooges back to life.  She also talked about voicing a character for the Disney animated feature Wreck-It Ralph, about a character from a 1980s video game who wants to get out of his game and into a more high-tech one, her role in A.C.O.D. (which stands for Adult Children of Divorce), the status of the Party Down movie, and what she’s looking forward to on her Fox TV series Glee.  Check out what she had to say after the jump:

First Look at Disney’s Video Game-Inspired Movie, WRECK-IT RALPH

This November, Disney Animation Studios will release the video game-inspired Wreck-It Ralph.  The film centers on an 8-bit arcade villain named Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) who grows sick of constantly being viewed as the bad guy, and decides to prove he can be a hero by traveling into other video game worlds.  I love the concept and now some early images from the movie have gone online.  The image with the bug-zapping soldiers is “Hero’s Bounty” and has Ralph meeting Sgt. Calhoun (Jane Lynch).  All of the images look a little simple and untextured, but keep in mind that the movie is still ten months away.

One of the films that seemed to impress everyone at this weekend’s D23 (Disney’s Comic-Con) was Wreck-it Ralph. The upcoming animated Disney film is about a 8-bit arcade villain named Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) who grows sick of constantly being viewed as the bad guy.  Desperate to prove his worth as a hero, Ralph decides to leave his 8-bit world and journey into other arcade games.  I’ve heard from everyone that the footage looked great and I think the concept sounds cool. Here’s Tommy’s recap of the panel.

After the presentation, I got to speak with director Rich Moore, Sarah Silverman and Jack McBrayer (they voice two of the characters).  Since the movie takes place in the video game world and since Disney also owns Tron, I asked Moore if Tron would make an appearance.  He told me:

“We might see a walk on by Mr. Tron himself…the great Bruce Boxleitner.  We’re talking with him.”

At the D23 Expo, Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar previewed their upcoming slate of animated films, showing exclusive footage with select cast and crew present. Among the highlights of the jam-packed panel: Pixar’s Brave and Monsters University, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, and Disney’s November 2012 release Wreck-It Ralph (about an arcade video game bad guy) all screened exclusive new footage. Presentations for D23 2011 Announced; Includes THE AVENGERS, THE MUPPETS, JOHN CARTER, BRAVE, FRANKENWEENIE, and More

Disney is probably done with Comic-Con for good.  The studio now has its own convention, the D23 Expo, and they’re using it to promote their upcoming films.  This year, D23 will have presentations for The Avengers, The Muppets, John Carter, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, Frankenweenie, Oz the Great and Powerful, and more.  The presentations will include appearances from Jason Segel, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Macdonald, Jennifer Garner, Jack McBrayer, unnamed cast members from The Avengers, “and other surprise guests.”

Disney’s Animated Film REBOOT RALPH Re-Titled to WRECK-IT RALPH; John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch to Star

Disney has sent out a press release announcing that their upcoming animated film, Reboot Ralph, has been re-titled to Wreck-It Ralph and will feature the voice talents of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.  Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) will direct the story of a video game bad guy who sets out to prove he can be the hero.  Sure, it’s a little Megamind, but there’s plenty of room to make inside jokes about video games and the comical devotion bad-guy bosses have to destroying the player.
